  1. The 'he plays for Barcelona' argument is valid. Not only is he playing for what would probably the best team in the world without him anyway, but in Iniesta, Xavi and Fabregas he's got some of the best providers in the world supporting him. Add to that he's playing in a league that is entirely set up to ensure Real-Barca hegemony and of course he fucking looks the best there's ever been ever ever ever zomgmessimaryme [/itvwankfest] Is he the best player in the world? Damn right he is. Is he the best player ever? No. Is he one of the best ever? I'd say wait until his career's finished but unless he declines very rapidly he'd definitely be on a list of the top 20 greatest ever today.
  2. The problem is, metalman, your point is wrong. Right, so because Zola and Bergkamp weren't fulfilling their main role, which is to score goals apparently, they aren't actually great players but had a "clear problem that needs addressing". Clearly I said that if they aren't scoring great players. Clearly. Oh wait, no I didn't. A striker's primary job has always been to score goals. If you have the players around you who score a lot of goals, like Wright and later Henry at Arsenal with Bergkamp, and Hasselbaink at Chelsea, then yes, you can get away with not scoring as many goals, and can still be a great player. But scoring goals is what a striker is expected to do.

  4. Yes, exactly! I mean just look at Dennis Bergkamp, Arsenal hero. Only scored a goal every four games or so. Despite that, he's an Arsenal hero and arguably the best foreign player ever to play in England! or, perhaps look to Gianfranco Zola, Chelsea hero. Only scored a goal every four games or so. Despite that, he's a Chelsea hero and arguably the best foreign player ever to play in England! That's a similar strike rate to Emile Heskey. Or maybe they're just shit because they weren't fulfilling their primary job, which is to score goals, apparently. Zola: Cost 4.5 million. Bergkamp: Cost 7.5 million. Carrol: Cost 35 million. Torres: Cost 50 million. You'll forgive me if I expect better than 1 goal in 6 games and 1 goal in 11 games from the two biggest transfers between British clubs in history.
  5. A striker's primary job is to score goals. If a striker is failing to do that then there's a clear problem that needs addressing. Spending 50 million, or even 35 million, on a striker who doesn't score goals is a big waste of money, no matter how many assists they make or excuses other people make.
  6. No he's not the best player ever. Probably not even top 10.
  7. It's a working relationship, TNA doesn't own OVW as WWE does with FCW. Keep it in the game imo.
  8. Playing Med 2 mostly at the moment, but have Empire, Napoleon and Rome. The Pope's a complete bastard.
  9. FIFA 12 and Pro Evo 12 on PS3, probably going to get back into Saint's Row 2 this week as well. Football Manager 12 on PC, as well as an oodle of mods for Medieval 2 Total War: Stainless Steel, Westeros, Extended Grand Campaign Map, and the Retrofit mod too. Might dl some others that take me fancy too.
  10. Heh, went 12 games unbeaten and unconceded as Hearts of Oak until I faced Kotoko and lost 4-1 :[
  11. Ahhh. Thanks. Might have to pick Red Dead Redemption at some point now.
  12. Is there any actual link in story between Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption or do they just share the shame series name? Never played the latter and whenever people talk about it all I hear about is zombies or some such thing...

    Servers have always been garbage.
  14. So why announce an investigation if it's "routine"....
  15. Something like 53, 54 million. Player went from Newport to Madrid. Transfer that beat it was a Colwyn to Portsmouth one iirc.
  16. It's not that absurd if he's only simming the English leagues as England would then get more regens and therefore more world class regens than any other nation. And rereading the SI Community thread on it.. that's what he's done, and only with the PL too.
  17. Indeed, although by about 2700, Colwyn Bay and Newport Co (who held the highest transfer fee from over 400 years) have both been Premiership Champions, Met Police have been in the Prem and Leeds end 2600 in the same place they finished 2400, relegated from the Blue Square North. England, in what could be the most absurd thing from the game, have won the World Cup more times than anyway, and Germany just a solitary times in the mid 2400s. How's it feel to be 2.5 weeks behind MPH? It er.. um.. *something witty about feeling* Tbh, i found it because of that post. So there.

  19. Why are we assuming that Gerrard, who hasn't exactly been stellar for in the England in the past... well half a decade at least, would've been a good captain for England? England isn't Liverpool and he's obviously more committed to the latter than the former.
  20. I saw Wales win the world cup twice in 12 years... of course it was in like the 25th century (some guy has simmed to like 3200 for some reason or another...) And Scotland have won 3 European Championships by 3100!
  21. In a 2020 save I downloaded the England job's swapped between Ricardo Carvallho (sp?), Mancini and Jose for the last 10 years or so (although both Roy Hodgeson and 'Arry have had the job.)
