  1. Fuck yeah. One more time, fuck yeah. We doubted our Lions this week. We the fans doubted out Lions, a vast majority of the media outlets doubted our Lions, but maybe we're getting to a point to stop doubting the Lions? They are winning close games, they are causing turnovers, they are simply finding ways to win. The running game continued off of it's momentum from last week, and Kitna played an efficient game this week. I really think the Lions should have blown the Bears out of the water because we outplayed them from start to finish. The score doesn't indicate that. My one complaint this week is that the play calling was questionable more than a few times. Still, 5-2 feels good. Only for now though, we can't be comfortable at 5-2. We can't become complacent, we have to go out week after week and continue to play like warriors. We need to kill, conquer, destroy, and mutilate all that oppose our team. Go Lions!
  2. I always dug Wrestlefest quite a bit, Terminator 2: The Arcade Game with the Uzi's rocked, hell any game where you hold a gun is usually awesome. Even though I never liked racing games, I did like Cruising World, that was fun. There's probably a ton more, but I haven't been in an arcade in years. I know of one right by my house, but haven't actually gone in it in some years. Ska, you're from the same area, are there any decent arcades around anymore? I know of Dave and Busters, and then CJ Barrymore by my house, otherwise anything like a classic arcade around?
  3. Sort of agree with Be, but I do have a soft spot for Wu Tang Clan. Wu Tang is probably one of the better rap/hip hop groups I've heard, so I can say that it's cool to see them make the list. The other groups? Who the fuck are they? I know of the Counting Crows, but the others are totally foreign to me.
  4. I'm bummed out that I wasn't able to get Motorhead on the list, or so I think. I seem to have been the only person to have voted for them, giving them ten points. Shame really. Sabbath making it is a good thing, though I'd bet a lot of money on them being the only band I voted for making this list. As for Rob Zombie, I always preferred White Zombie much more than Rob Zombie alone. His solo stuff just never did anything for me, but White Zombie was fucking rocking.
  5. I always liked the Doors for sleeping, they worked out pretty well, having music that isn't too rough around the edges. Also the song "Desperado" by Alice Cooper was always helpful.
  6. Fuck me, how did I forget about Inepsy? They're easily one of my favorite bands going as of the present day. They remind me a lot of Motorhead, except with more of a punk edge to them. This video doesn't necessarily reflect that their sound is similar to Motorhead, but I think people would see the comparison through their studio stuff.
  7. I'll sign up later today, and I'll go ahead and make fighters for each weight class. Hell, maybe I'll even make two for each weight class. I'll probably get my shit ruined, but it'll be fun none the less. You guys are lucky this isn't Fight Night Round 3 though, because I'd be making orphans of your children.
  8. I love my Detroit Lions, and think they should have a much improved year over the past few years (not hard now is it?). Unfortunately, I do not see us winning this game Sunday. I don't know why, it's not like I don't think we're capable, because we are, with the running game finding life and Calvin Johnson being at full strength (opening up a ton of options for the passing game). There is just this gut feeling that says Chicago will find a way to beat us, being in Soldier Field, and Griese has found some sort of a rhythm. I'm hoping for a win, but I'm not going to be overly shocked at a loss this week.
  9. You warmed my heart there Gabe. God Bless D.O.A. And Canada has had many great bands, Subhumans being one of my favorites, who were founded by the same guy that founded D.O.A., Joey Shithead. I believe he was actually an active member of Subhumans before he formed D.O.A. And for the record, Subhumans from Canada bear no relation to the Subhumans of the UK, and I might say, are much better than the Subhumans of the U.K. Nomeansno deserve a mention, considering they were a top band of mine for quite some time. I don't listen to them as much as I used to, but they're still an incredibly amazing band, great song writers, great musicians, and very diverse in their style. Oh, and don't let me forget my new favorite punk band, Personality Crisis. I can't really place my finger on what it is about these guys, but I really love what they did in their era. They had a real style to their music, and a vocalist with a pretty interesting sounding voice. Then there is also one of my favorite thrash bands, Aggression. They hit heavy and don't stop from start to finish. If anybody is interested in a listing of notable Canadian punk bands...Kill from the heart: Canada Edit - "Pretty sounding voice"...whoops.
  10. I think most sports games had the save feature, well, as far as I know the NBA Live and Tecmo Super Bowl games did. By the way, I saw Flashback mentioned, and I remember playing that game. I could never figure out what I was supposed to do in that first level. It seemed like fun, the game gave you a decent amount of movement, and the graphics were absolutely solid for the era. Does anybody remember Two Crude Dudes? It was a fun side scrolling beat em' up, a bit tough though. Oh yeah, and Rambo 3 was kind of fun as well.
  11. Reverse being when the RB hands the ball to the WR? I tend to just lump the two together as the "play when the WR is used as the running back" so to speak. So chances are I'd call a reverse a reverse, an end around an end around, a reverse an end around, and an end around a reverse.
  12. No order here, just all around favorites. 1. Taxi Driver 2. A Clockwork Orange 3. Trainspotting 4. Pulp Fiction 5. Romper Stomper 6. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 7. Raging Bull 8. Suburbia 9. Sid and Nancy 10. American Psycho 11. The Road Warrior 12. Gangs of New York 13. Rob Roy 14. Last of the Mohicans 15. Goodfellas
  13. The Detroit Lions improve to 4-2, winning a game that was largely controlled (clockwise) by the Tampa Bay Bucs. Tampa looked good on their drives, but costly turn overs proved to be the difference in the game. The Lions did well in capitalizing off of the turn overs and scoring when necessary. The offense wasn't necessarily explosive, but it was efficient and we seem to have found a running game with Kevin Jones (and T.J. Duckett providing solid runs). Also, the Lions ran one of my favorite plays, the end to end reverse. I've always had a fondness for this play, it's probably one of my favorite gadget plays in football. Calvin Johnson was the recipient of the play and took it home for a 32 yard touchdown run, which just goes to show you why you need to put the ball in the hands of a playmaker. Prior to this, I thought the Lions had been under utilizing Calvin. So, at 4-2, I'm pleased thus far. The aberrations that were Washington and Philadelphia still astound me because I'm not impressed with either team in their other outings. That's life in the NFL. The defense still worries me because the Bucs moved at will, and the Lions still were not able to generate a sustained pass rush throughout the day. Still, our big free agent signing, Dewayne White managed 3 sacks against his former team.
  14. Honestly, if my friends don't approve, they can kiss my ass. But I get the point of the thread, and about the only guilty pleasure (if you can call it that) that I can think of is Duran Duran's Rio. I doubt any of my crowd or friends would suspect me getting down to that. But as I said, I don't think I feel like I'd be ashamed of anything I listen to. It's all a matter of personal taste, and no amount of chastising or heckling will ever get me to change my mind or opinion.
  15. Dig it. I agree with you here, it seems that my love of the Dead Kennedys has been waning over the last year or so. Not because they suck, but because I continue to explore other avenues in music. It seems a lot of my attention to the Dead Kennedys goes to the Plastic Surgery Disasters and Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables albums. Pull My Strings is probably one of the best live songs I've ever heard on any album from any band, really a fantastic song with witty lyrics. And since you mentioned the Dead Kennedys, Frankenchrist is really a fucking amazing album. It's probably the best example of the Dead Kennedys infusing surf with punk, and they do it so well. If there was a genre called "Demented Surf", I think this album would personify it.
  16. Circle Jerks - Group Sex Vic Goodard and the Subway Sect - What's the Matter Boy? Billy Childish and thee Headcoats - Beached Earls Zero Boys - Vicious Circle The Plugz - Electrify Me Oi Polloi - Total Anarchoi Kraut - Complete Studio Recordings The Modern Lovers - The Modern Lovers That's it for now, I've forgot the rest.
  17. If I'm the Pistons, I could see dealing Rip and either Sheed or McDyess...don't they still have Jason Maxiell? He seemed ready to start at times. I'd clear the PF spot for him if possible. I'm somewhat horrified by the nagging thought that Bird's gonna try to offer up Jermaine O'Neal and half the roster for Kobe. Don't get me wrong, I'm sort of convinced that it might be time to blow up the Pacers, anyway, but Kobe'll just be in the same situation he's in now and bitch about it endlessly. Yeah, Maxiell is slated to be our sixth man this year, with McDyess starting. I'd imagine they'll want to keep Dice's minutes limited, even for a starter, due to his injury history. This will be his first year starting in quite some time. Trading Rasheed or Dice is risky, I'd prefer to not either of them in a trade. Losing one of them leaves us with Maxiell, Amir Johnson, and Nazr Mohammed beyond the guy not traded. Max will be very good, but is only 6'7, so might not be effective as a starter when going against bigger power forwards and centers. Amir is young, and raw, but he's still going to see a good amount of action as they have a lot of faith in him. Nazr's not bad, but is best served on the bench and not in a starting position. Though I've heard rumors that Chris Webber wants to be a Piston again, I have to say thanks but no thanks to that.
  18. Honestly, I'd give up anybody on our team right now. It wont happen, but I'd say Chauncey would be one that I'd try to hang onto, but maybe Rip and Prince, a draft pick, and one of our young guys. Then you get Sheed, Dyess, Kobe, Billups, and Jarvis Hayes or I guess at small forward. It'd be interesting anyway.
  19. That's a funny point you make Monsoon, because I was just thinking about how good Ladainian Tomlinson's career passer rating is. His career passer rating is 154.4 which is damn near perfect, and has probably frustrated fantasy owners that had either Drew Brees or Phillip Rivers in the past few years. I know my brother has been annoyed by it.
  20. They didn't have the Simpsons or T2 the Arcade Game there? I loved that Sega Genesis as a kid. Pit Fighter (I badly want a remake of this on next gen consoles), NBA Live 95, the Streets of Rage series, Golden Axe, Tecmo Super Bowl, and Captain American and the Avengers stand out as some of my favorites. Ya know, I never did get into that game Strider, and it seems everybody was shitting their pants over it at the time. The graphics were cool and all, but fuck did it frustrate me. That game was a royal pain in the ass for me.
  21. I have to say that I'm very impressed with Adrian Peterson right now, and worried at the same time. Worried because he's in the same division as my time. Anyway, I think he's going to be great in the long run, he had a hell of a performance tonight. The dude is strong, and quick when running, and doesn't go down easy. He'll be fun to watch over the course of his career, even if some his great games may come at my the expense of my happiness.
  22. Rock and roll is very mature, and should always be taken seriously, good point. By the way, by saying the Butthole Surfers are the exception because they don't suck, are you implying that you have actually heard Puke? They're nothing like the name would imply, and are actually a pretty damn good band.
  23. Yeah I get ya, it's all up everybody's own perception and personalities really. I'm just a bit bizarre in my humor, and for whatever have a fondness for things that are crass (speaking of good band names.. ). It translates into some of the band names that I enjoy. I'll be honest, never was a fan of the name Dying Fetus myself. That one is a bit over the top, even for me.
  24. It's Jack Tragic and the Unfortunates actually. I think you misread that one. And again, I like stuff that is simple. Stuff like Puke, the Meatmen, and that sort of shit, I get a kick out of it. It's silly, and the Meatmen's is especially neat to me because of the way they were on stage. They should have been called the Meatmen with the type of music they played, and the themes of their songs.
  25. Not to be an elitist prick, but christ do I agree. 1. Motorhead 2. Dead Boys 3. Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers 4. The Controllers 5. Iggy and the Stooges 6. No Alternative 7. Black Sabbath 8. Reagan Youth 9. Chuck Berry 10. The Mentors I like this list. There might be some omissions, but I don't think any of those bands should be knocked off of my list, as I'd say these are a good representation of what my top ten would be. I'd say the top three are easily my top three of all-time, Motorhead being a sort of new love. I've always enjoyed them quite a bit, but it's recent that I've really began to think that they are the ultimate rock and roll band. I'd say my list exemplifies what I feel about rock and roll, and how I like it to be performed. I almost feel bad putting Chuck Berry so low, but it's no slight on him, he should be on everybody's list really. This might also mark the first list that I have omitted Nomeansno. It's strange because I had been in love with the band for a few years, but my interest in them has since waned, and I can't really explain why.
