  1. "This other group Lordi"? I hope that was tongue-in-cheek As for metal bands that sing... Edguy! Eh....it wasn't. It was my first exposure. I checked out the studio shit they did, and it was disappointing, but they do kick ass live. Well, I feel the need to go on a quick little diatribe regarding my unabashed love for thrash metal. It's been building up, but today is the day that I realized I have a hard on for thrashing riffs. Ya see, I've always been something of a head banger, and I've always loved heavy music. Unfortunately, I never did quite find a love for heavy metal until I had been exposed to thrash. With it's shredding guitar, powerful drums, and vocals that make children cry, it's quickly won me over as a fan. It's everything I've ever wanted from heavy metal, it has balls, and it doesn't relegate itself to pussified nonsense. I have been listening to a plethora of thrash bands lately, and I can't get enough of it. I think a large reason I've grown fond of it is that much of it is punk influenced, especially in the drum cadences. I've come to the conclusion that thrash bands with the name "Witch" in them are awesome (for example: Skeletonwitch, Witchery, Witches Hammer, Hellwitch). I admit to enjoying the epic nature of the lyrics, and of course the satanic themes. You know what you're getting with thrash metal. If somebody suggests you a thrash metal band, chances are you wont be listening to the album thinking "What the fuck is this pretentious shit? Where is the rock?". You can keep your gutless indie rock, give me a healthy dose of thrashing death please.
  2. While I appreciate a fan of Husker Du, I don't think they'd fit in this sort of category. Their earliest stages were very hardcore influenced, and even as they evolved they never had too much of a poppy sound. Unless I missed something after New Day Rising.
  3. Good pop punk... Exploding Hearts, The Dickies, The Boys, and UK Squeeze. Not exactly my forte, but it should do.
  4. Get some Zolar-X, they kick ass, a proto punk group from L.A. that inspired the Germs. Everything about their music was spacey, from the music, the lyrics, vocals, and the way they dressed on stage. Hell, they even created their own martian language that they'd communicate to each other with. They were a very good rock and roll band that don't get nearly enough credit. Their best songs are Timeless, Rocket Roll, and Parallel Galaxy. Bal-Sagoth kicks ass by the way.
  5. Yeah, and out of that group, it's the tag teams that I miss the most. It makes me wonder which characters will be holding the tag team titles from the start of the game.
  6. Yeah, strange that those three wouldn't make it, but Marcus Cor Von would make it. Although, I admit that I'd rather use Cor Von then any of those three. I'm not too annoyed, but it seems illogical that they can't make these rosters as accurate and full as possible. I understand that they can't add every single guy, or cut out every single guy that is released, but they could do much better than this (this statement being directed toward the powers that be in making the decision for the roster).
  7. God damn disappointing to see London and Kendrick snubbed again this year. I probably wouldn't have used them a lot, but it would have been nice to have had them for a fleshed out tag team and lightweight division. Besides, as chincy as they were with the legends, why couldn't they have added those two? Still, Rick Rude and Terry Funk are fucking awesome additions as legends. And once more, Tommy Dreamer finally making it almost makes up for the snub of Londrick.
  8. Ghost Rider by Suicide immediately came to mind. Great song, great music. "Ghost Rider motorcycle hero". Do you want comic book super hero's specifically? If not, there is also Gigantor by the Dickies. Dr. Know does a song titled Mr. Freeze, a fantastic hardcore punk song from one of the better "Nardcore" bands. Oh yeah, I forgot the obvious one, Iron Man by Black Sabbath. That's the best I can come up with for now.
  9. I concur with The General on his recommendation of Motorhead. In my humble opinion, Motorhead is the epitome of rock and roll. Fast, loud, gritty, and all-around punishing to listen to. I've always thought Johnny Thunders personified rock and roll to me as well, get his album L.A.M.F. for proof of this. The Ramones are always a favorite for the rock and roll fan.
  10. You're right about Detroit, they need a quality back up behind Jon Kitna. I'm not so sure J.T. O'Sullivan or Dan Orlovsky will be able to win ball games if Kitna goes down. I wouldn't mind landing Byron for the year just as an insurance policy for Kitna.
  11. I was at Ozzfest this year, most of the bands sucked. I did like this black/thrash metal band from Taiwan, and this other group Lordi were fun. Otherwise the rest of the line up was a snooze fest, other than Ozzy of course. I've been listening to a lot of thrash lately, shit like Skeletonwitch, Destruction, Venom, Ambulance, and Sodom. Thrash is wonderful stuff, easily my favorite kind of metal.
  12. I'm really impressed with how good these mods are. I'll probably never play it, but that's pretty damn good work they did. And Ska, who are those chicks in your avatar? I want to take them home.
  13. Absolutely, give me Doug, Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, Welcome Freshmen, Fifteen, Clarissa Explains it All, and a host of other great shows from Nickelodeon's glory days.
  14. I just remembered how much I hated that Ramones tribute album. I can't think of one song on that album that I thought was performed well. The Chilli Peppers (them again) and Marilyn Manson's covers were the worst offenders.
  15. Speaking of Canada, Charles Rogers is apparently going to try and resurrect his career over there. Good luck to him I say, here's hoping he joins Mike McMahon and they flourish. This whole case about Michael Vick is fucking wild though. I'm just glad that celebrity status isn't going to save him from the heinous crimes he's committed. That's about all I've got to add, everybody's pretty much stated what needs to be stated.
  16. I don't like Guns and Roses cover of the Dead Boys "Aint It Fun" at all. It doesn't ruin the song for me because nothing could possibly ruin the Dead Boys. The cover is just not for me. Speaking of Dead Boys covers, Pearl Jam should never have done "Sonic Reducer". That Britney Spears cover of the Rolling Stones "Satisfaction" was really fucking bad. (I put that "fucking" in there for you Cloudy)
  17. What do you mean by being the Sheed' of his generation? Constant bitching? Just curious, Sheed seemed kind of a strange comparison to me.
  18. Fourth Reich Fighting Men from Romper Stomper is an excellent song. All of the music from the soundtrack is great really, good marching anthems and good oi. I also like the work done in the original Suburbia, though I forget the name of the guy that wrote most of the songs. The movie also features live tracks from D.I., T.S.O.L., and The Vandals.
  19. I'm just glad that Tommy Dreamer finally made it into a Smackdown game after being snubbed in previous additions when he was an active member of the roster.
  20. True. It is nice buying a six pack of some wonderfully brewed Michigan beer after I'm with my banking. Saturdays rock.

    But..youth. It's fun.

  21. You want to be 21? Don't bother, it's overrated. I'm 22. Been there, done that. Youth rules. Keep it.

  22. Well, there is a large Russian population in Maine, so she could technically be from Russia, but living in Maine now. Still, it's probably all a big hoax. That doesn't explain two names though. She almost covered all of her bases.
  23. Rentals at my local blockbuster are $7.50 for five days when pertaining to X-Box 360 games. Unfortunately, this is a waste of money for the casual gamer such as myself, seeing as I only have two days to play the game (Saturday and Sunday) seeing as my work schedule doesn't permit much of anything on the weekdays. It's also unfortunate when you drop $7.50 on a game that blows and you don't touch it again. Free demo's are always a good thing, no matter when they are released. I could buy a good six pack of beer for $7.50, something I know I'll enjoy.
  24. That is true, it's a bit more convenient than a Walkman (lol, remember those ancient things?) or a portable disc player. If you're out at the gym, then you're in a case of beggars can't be choosers if you want to listen to your own music. I do most of my exercise at home so I have my turntable handy. I'm the same way though, I like having the cd/vinyl covers. They just add personality. Hell, I even keep my cd covers in front of my cd's when they are stashed in cd books, as opposed to just the disc. Though I don't think CD books are very good for the discs.
  25. I'm definitely sticking with vinyl, mp3's on my computer are simply for the convenience of listening to music at my computer. Besides, I'll probably never own an Ipod or download any MP3's from them. Edit - Them being Apple.
