  1. What's up with Rhodes? Is he still a useless hollywood diva, or what?
  2. Yeah, undoubtedly. Neither of them are worth the contracts they ended up getting.
  3. Oh, and the Giants have officially made Rolle the highest paid safety in the game. What a shitty day to be an AZ fan. lol. =(.
  4. AZ's been knocking just about every single one of their drafts out of the park since this FO (Graves, in particular) came into power. I have no doubt we'll come away with a great crop of rookies, but they won't pay dividends until a year or two down the line, anyways, and we certainly won't magically fill every one of the holes on our roster.
  5. Oh, and it's official. Peppers to the Bears on a 6-year, $72 million dollar. Again, what a low deal for Julius. I'm surprised he didn't try to crack $100 mil; he easily could have.
  6. Anquan Boldin & AZ's 5th round pick to Baltimore for their 3rd and 4th round picks, and he's signed a new 4-year $28 million deal. What a shitty deal for Boldin; AZ really just didn't seem interested in negotiating a good deal at all.
  7. They're definitely up there with the Saints, Pack and Bengals.
  8. Holy crap, Jared Gaither received ONLY a 1st round tender? What the hell is Ozzie smoking? If the Colts, Packers and Cards aren't on the phone with his agent right now, I'd be surprised. Poison pill time? I hope so (as a Cards fan)! And if I'm not mistaken, Marshal Yanda wasn't even tendered. What the hell is Ozzie thinking, seriously? They have one of the top, young o-lines in the business.. why let 2 of the most integrals parts of it (potentially) walk away? Also, apparently Peppers to Bears is a done deal. Chicago is throwing A LOT of money at him, which means they're out of the Rolle sweepstakes.. leaving the Giants, Dolphins and at a distant 3rd the Cardinals as his options right now. Karlos Dansby is flying to Miami tomorrow, though with Peppers-to-Chicago a done deal, Snyder might come calling (he was trying to get in on the Peppers sweepstakes, too). I think Dansby's only following the flow, so Washington's a logical option for him. Jim Schwartz is currently at Kyle Vanden Bosch's house trying to recruit him. For some reason. Dunta Robinson is rumoured to be headed to Atlanta, which if the deal goes through, should free them up to take Sean Weatherspoon in the 1st round. Nice. Corey Williams got traded to the Lions earlier, as well. Chester Taylor to visit Chicago tomorrow, as well. Per Roto, it sounds like the Seahawks are in play to land Aaron Kampman.
  9. Any Detroit fan that complains about the Lions taking Okung over either Suh or McCoy simply doesn't know football; the Lions are on the verge of having a very explosive, very dynamic offense, but they'll never get there if Stafford is getting nicked and hurt every other game. Riddle me this, riddle me that, I've got a hard one for you, EWBats: I describe an absence of the presence of beings, yet with space can describe the same beings' lack of absence. Backus isn't THAT terrible of an LT, but he isn't elite or a franchise-caliber protector, either. Okung looks like the real deal, and he would allow the Lions to shift Backus over to either of their guard positions, leaving only RT as a true, visible need on that line. Also, I think the Rams are stupid for letting it slip that they're interested in a QB if they really are interested in a QB. Tampa Bay would LOVE to trade up and get either Suh or McCoy first overall, which'll net the Rams an extra third most likely, and still allow them to pick up their QB of the future (assuming the Lions don't trade down with the Seahawks or Redskins or anything). And let me just say that I'm going to hate this upcoming free agency period. It's nothing but AZ's D getting gutted. (Antrel Rolle was released earlier today and is already rumored to be going to Chicago, and Dansby flew in to Miami earlier today.. don't be surprised if he has a contract in hand within an hour or two).
  10. No way are Anthony Davis and Pierre-Paul top 5 talents in this draft; they're not even the best prospects at their respective positions.
  11. Ryan Leaf is still king of the scrub QB's and, much like Manning (in terms of greatness), it will be a long time until somebody comes close to matching him.
  12. Ummm, Trent Edwards fucking sucks.
  13. That being said, Sons of Anarchy's the shit and it's easily the best drama show on TV right now. Pretty impressive considering it took the Shield 4-5 seasons to reach this level of quality.
  14. .. What does it say about me that I assumed this was talking about gambling?
  15. And how do you justify them going into full out hurry up mode in the final 2 minutes, timeouts and all when the score was already.. what, 38-0? Not saying the Titans weren't fucking terrible and didn't deserved to get humiliated or anything, but BB and Brady definitely dipped into some of their 2007 antics. Simply no reason for that, and no reason for Brady to still be out there to start the 3rd quarter.
  16. I'd definitely put Alabama over Florida, and (just like Florida), Texas seems to only be there based on reputation and pre-season hype. They haven't really done anything thus far, in my opinion, to put them in the top 3.
  17. Jaguars and Seahawks cost me some serious fucking money today. And, it looks like Eagles and Jets will, too. What a terrible day. But seriously, WTF Jacksonville? How the fuck do you NOT cover 10 against the fucking Rams? Especially going into a bye week? How the FUCK do you let them take you to OT?!
  18. So, Clausen's going to be the 1st QB taken next draft. And not just because Bradford (re)injured himself.
  19. Sure, but they also need young talent to build around, especially on defense. That's exactly what Gaines Adams was. Pretty bad move on TB's part, in my opinion. Especially for what will most likely end up being a high 2nd round pick, considering that Gaines himself was the 4th overall pick just a couple of years ago.
  20. By that same token, is Antwan Odom the second coming of LT? >_> Don't read too much into what defenses/pass rushers do against the Pack. Yeah, Vikes' D is good and all, but that line is abso-fucking-lutely horrendous..
  21. I wouldn't go as far as calling it a stupid move. I think they should have waited a little bit, or at least seen how Culpepper was doing. But, they have made some improvements to the team as a whole, and I don't think Stafford is going to just get hit and suddenly not realise what his potential would be. I typically like to have a QB sit and learn for a year if possible, but in this situation I'm fine with letting Stafford start, especially after seeing how things went in the pre-season for everyone. Yeah, the team has definitely improved in all areas with one major, obvious exception - the o-line. Stafford has all the potential in the world to be great, and I sure hope he reaches that potential, but by being placed behind that sieve of a line, they run the risk of getting another Harrington (or Carr) on their hands. Stafford's ceiling's a bit higher than Harrington's, in my opinion, but the risk is still there. Detroit isn't going to make much noise this year with or without Stafford, so what's the point? (outside of live reps, of course) I still think they were stupid for not selecting Oher with their second 1st round pick, but that's neither here nor there now. I think Schwartz may have been planning on starting off with Culpepper, but the dude's injury tipped the scales in Matt's favor.
  22. The IR thing is definitely retarded, and I honestly can't believe they haven't fixed that. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to write code so that the game doesn't count a player on injured reserve as a part of the active 53. Oh, and I'm loving Beanie in the game. He lacks the top-end speed to out run everybody, but his tackle breaking ability is insane. I broke out of a three-man tackle once, ran about 20, broke out of the safety's tackle, and went all the way for a score. Clearly the most badass thing ever.
  23. So his production goes down because he runs behind a terrible OLine and it's his fault? Parker's also had two injuries in his career: a freak leg break, and last year's shoulder problem. My apologies, I was under the impression that that (as well as a lack of production) is exactly what happens as players begin to break down. Sorry. Yes, the line is terrible, and it's a foregone conclusion that he would have a better chance behind a better line, but where is this greatness you're speaking of? To me, he simply seems timid or complacent. Or both. Bring up the "it's just pre-season" argument again if you want, but you just do not see that in 1st round running backs hoping to show off enough to justify an organization's belief in them to eventually turn into their future franchise running back, or at least vulture carries off of the man in front of him this season. Again, blame the o-line if you want to, but that just doesn't explain the fact that he looks like he lacks elusiveness, he lacks explosion, and he just looks very.. average. I'm not calling him a bust yet (and I never have), it'd be stupid to do so this soon, but if he does not turn it around, then he is well on his way to becoming one. Here's what he said - Tomlin isn't from the Belichick/Parcells tree-of-secrecy, he's christening Parker (coming off back-to-back injury riddled seasons, and who is already being hampered by a hamstring this pre-season) as the guy in Pittsburgh, with Mendenhall left to, as PFT put it, "pick up his scraps". Again, that is not a good sign for a running back taken in the first round with the intention of having him become the organization's franchise back. EDIT - And the Lions have named Stafford the starter. Stupid move. For their sake, I hope Stafford's a little bit tougher than Harrington, since he's going to get murdered this year.
  24. 1. How is Willie Parker overrated? He's had seasons of 1202, 1494, 1316, and 791 yards. He was on pace to win the rushing title two years ago when he broke his leg in a freak accident in St. Louis, I believe he's in the Top 5 in rushing yards for the entire NFL since he became a starter, and he did something Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis never could and he was actually a factor in the playoffs. If the Steelers had any kind of offensive line Parker would be a top 5 back in the league. His YPA has consistently gone down each and every season since he entered the league (5.8, 4.7, 4.4, 4.1, 3.8). Combined with his recent injuries, and his age (he'll be turning 29 during this upcoming season, which is usually around the time most running backs commence to break down), to think he'll come close to regaining his form from a few years ago is, at best, homerism and at worst, fucking retarded. The fact that a good amount of people still think of him as a great running back, or a running back with the potential to still be great, qualifies him for the "overrated" label. 1. When did Tomlin say this? 2. I doubt they re-sign Parker after this season unless he has a monster year and is willing to sign for cheap. Parker's the starter because he's a proven commodity. No one in their right mind would make Mendenhall the starter after he's yet to really play in the regular season. I don't care if he has the greatest camp/preseason of any RB in the history of the NFL, you don't do it. This speculation is stupid. I can't find whatever it was that led me believe Tomlin actually said those exact words, so for now we'll just strike that up to pulling it out of my own ass. However, there HAVE been mixed reviews regarding Mendenhall's performance during this pre-season from spectators who, obviously, were there, and that, combined with his lackluster performance during the exhibitions so far, as well as the fact that, despite Parker being old, hurting, and less effective than in years past (and Mendenhall having been selected 1st to work alongside him, not behind him), Tomlin has gone ahead and named Parker as the running back, as opposed to one of the two (or three, or however many) in a committee, certainly goes a long way in re-inforcing the notion that Mendenhall simply won't pan out as anything more than just an average running back; definitely not what you want out of your first round running backs. Which, getting back to how this whole conversation started, simply doesn't qualify the Pittsburgh backfield to be anywhere near close to one of the best in the league - not as a trio, not as a duo, and not even as a one man army.
