  1. Eat their first born first. And make them watch. ¬_¬
  2. Kids in America Billie Jean Two Tribes 99 Luftballons Come on feel the noise etc
  3. Though of course the whole deal with it being 4th place is because they alter them slightly every few years based on which are the better leagues at the time. Hence why England got a 4th one a couple of years back, Scotland got one taken away etc. All the '4th place' thing does is point out that, due to the overall quality of the league, the 4th placed team in England is likely to be as good or better than the champions or 2nd placed team from some other country. That way it's more realistic and provides for better football.
  4. Cynical reason: More teams = more matches = more money My reason: Because a tournament of only 8 or so teams (unless you took the champions of places like, say, Slovenia) would suck. And seriously, how much does it matter? Would you like them to change the name then? It is still the premier competition in Europe. I'd say it's far more enjoyable with the extra teams, because otherwise it would get so repetitive that it wouldn't evenb be funny.
  5. Just finished my first season - managed to get Chelsea to finish 4th in the Premiership after that atrocious start to the season. Spent most of the last third of the season chasing Liverpool who were originally 9pts ahead of me, but I finally managed to overtake them and knock them back into 5th. Then of course they went and won the Champions League, cheeky bastards (Liverpool verses Newcastle in the CL Final?? ) Got knocked out of the FA Cup in the 5th round by Arsenal, and out of the UEFA Cup in the Quarter Finals by the eventual winners Bayern Munich. In other news, Arsenal finished first, followed by Newcastle and then Man Utd. Fulham, Leeds and Southampton got relegated. Sunderland won the League Cup and Aston Villa won the FA Cup. Oh, and after being suspiciously displaced in the Chelsea job by me, Claudio Ranieri is now onto his third job (not inc. Chelsea) in only 10 months.
  6. A couple of Chelsea articles I picked up from the BBC website: 1. Shyeah right. 2. Goddamn, I like Gronkjaer. And £1.2m? If it actually happens, that's a real bargain for Birmingham.
  7. In case you're wondering, Yu-Gi-Oh is yet another of those 'lets base a TV show around merchandise' show, with the purpose of selling the playing cards etc. Still, at least it's not as bad as Beyblade. Yes Gundam Wing is a manga. If you like mecha (aka big feck-off robots) you'll love it. Not my sort of thing personally, but hey. Not sure about the crime thing at all. Closest thing I can think of off the top of my head is 'Noir', if only for the alley reference. But then I'm not sure Noir has ever been on in the UK. http://www.megatokyo.com Go there. Go there now. Go back to page #1 and start reading. Don't stop until you've finished. I don't care how many hours it takes.
  8. Time Gentlemen Please is set in a London pub. Two Pints is set, erm, somewhere random and urban, as far as I know. Never heard of one in a Liverpool hotel. In fact, the only hotel one I can think of is Fawlty Towers, which obviously isn't it.
  9. The majority of manga (or rather anime, to be pedantic) on UK TV sucks, especially on terrestrial. Sometimes there are some better shows on some of the satellite/digital channels, but they're few and far between, and nowhere near the best ones anyway. Unfortunately I don't know specifically when any of these are on, because I never watch them. Out of curiosity, do you remember the names of some of these shows your friends mentioned? (If they say Yu-Gi-Oh, slap them)
  10. Meh, those all required 7 days as well. I eventually went for GTO. Should provide more than adequate amusement...
  11. Poor guys... Except Ziege. Never liked Ziege. But, poor guys... I may just be a Chelsea nostagist, but Poyet's still The Man in my book.
  12. Table with Goal Differences, in case similar questions crop up: (Name - Games Played - Points - GD) 1. Arsenal 37 87 46 2. Chelsea 37 76 36 3. Man Utd 37 72 27 4. Liverpool 37 59 18 5. Aston Villa 37 56 6 6. Newcastle 36 54 12 7. Bolton 37 53 -6 8. Charlton 37 50 -1 9. Fulham 37 49 4 10. Birmingham 37 49 -5 11. Middlesbrough 37 48 -4 12. Southampton 36 46 0 13. Blackburn 37 43 -8 14. Portsmouth 37 42 -11 15. Tottenham 37 42 -12 16. Everton 37 39 -8 17. Man City 37 38 -3 18. Leicester 37 33 -16 19. Wolves 37 33 -37 20. Leeds 37 33 -38 If I knew how to get a better layout with that I would.
  13. Despite him also praising Terry and Lampard, there's something about Sven praising Claudio for the way he handled the speculation, that HE caused a significant portion of, that just makes me dislike him even more than I already did. Though knowing me, I'm probably just overreacting.
  14. 5. Aston Villa - Played 37 - 56pts (GD +6) 6. Newcastle - Played 36 - 54pts (GD +12) 7. Bolton - Played 37 - 53pts (GD - 6) Answer = Yes. But you'd have to be very, very lucky. Edit: To be more precise: - Aston Villa have to lose to Man Utd at home. (Preferably by about 12 goals...*cough*) - Bolton must, of course, beat Fulham, also at home. - Newcastle must not gain more than 1pt from their last two games - away to Southampton (tomorrow night), and at Anfield. If they got 2pts then their goal difference is far too better to contend with.
  15. Do these threads normally come up four days beforehand...? Chelsea are second regardless. What else matters?
  16. Meh, I wasn't thrilled about the prospect of Emerson back when we were poor, and I'm even less thrilled about it now.
  17. Treating myself for when I've finished my final exam in a couple of days, I'm ordering a few manga books from Amazon.co.uk, and need a fifth one to qualify for the Supersaver deal (if I only had four, the extra P&P would cost as much as a fifth book anyway). The four I've currently got are: Azumanga Daioh Vol. 1 Azumanga Daioh Vol. 3 (I already have #2 and 4) Love Hina Vol. 2 (got #1) Love Hina Vol. 3 I was going to get one of the new, cheaper Evangelion mangas, but it wants 7 days for delivery rather than 24hrs like everything else. Can't be doing with that. I could just get Love Hina Vol. 4, but that'd be kind of dull, so if anyone's got suggestions of any particularly good manga series for me to buy the first book of, please recommend them to me.
  18. I don't remember Melchiot ever playing Left Back? There is Babayaro though.
  19. *Waits in eager anticipation for the day that New Bradwell St. Peter get promoted 3 or 4 divisions up to the Conference* Wait, they're not even in the game? Way to spoil my dream...arsehole. Random update on my CM4 Chelsea game, which with the Official Enhanced Pack Update starts in the summer when they'd just got rich but hadn't bought anyone yet. But who cares, 'cos Zola is still there!! - Well after reaching mid-November and still not getting any kind of success (15th in table!) I did what I thought I would never do. The tactic that I banned myself from using ever since in won four Champions Leagues in a row with Glasgow Rangers on CM99/00...yes, I brought in the infamous, impossible in real life, but magnificent in the game - the 4-1-3-2 formation!! The next game I beat Fulham 6-1...I feel so dirty. Luckily I lost at Anfield a week later which soothed my guilt. I hate Micky-bloody-Owen so much. - Hasselbaink requested transfer. Fine, he never scores anyway. Nobody wants him either, so there. - My only signing so far this season was Joe Cole, who's quickly becoming crucial to the squad with 9 ratings aplenty. Young Player of the Month for October too. Got Harry Kewell and Ronaldinho signed and coming in at the January transfer window. Sweet. Especially since Zenden has been injured for a couple of months now. - Forssell is king. Seriously. - Got knocked out of the League Cup 4th Round 1-0 away to Plymouth. - Currently in the UEFA Cup 3rd round against Galatasaray. Drew the away leg 1-1, so should be odds on to progress. - Cudicini has taken on six penalties so far this season, and saved all of them. The Man. - Favourite moment thus far: Second leg of the UEFA Cup 2nd round against some team from Sweden. I am already 3-1 up from the home leg, so I change the tactics from my usual attacking posture to help prevent the guys from tiring themselves out. "Ease up lads," I say, "you don't need to go all out on this one. Just sit back a bit for the first half hour or so and see how it goes." Exactly 23 seconds into the game, Eidur Gudjohnson scores. If there's one thing you can say about Gudjohnson, he knows how to take the piss. - Current position: 10th in the league with 23pts after 15 games played (see how much I suck at CM4?). Currently Man Utd are leading with 36pts, and there's only 3pts separating me and 5th place. Slowly-slowly...I'm on the way back up.
  20. That would explain why I didn't know it was on. And Coupling minus Geoff = automatic death of the series
  21. Didn't even realise it was on last night. However if they did have an episode without Geoff (or however it's spelt) it would be a travesty, yes.
  22. I tried watching 'I'm not an Animal' last night. Couldn't stand it. Coupling is better than Two Pints, by a significant margin. I still laugh at the thought of the 'Captain Subtext' episode.
  23. I don't usually watch it, but I enjoy it when I do. The 'biscuits' rap was frickin' hilarious.
  24. *I* haven't got CM03/04, because I bought CM4 back when I had my old computer only to realise that the machine was too shit for it. I do now have a laptop that is far superior, but buying CM03/04 at this stage in the year would just be silly. However...in CM4 I've started a game as Chelsea and am realising how much I suck at this game (having not played it in 18 months...and being too used to CM3), as I currently having only 13pts from 11 games. I ruled all from CM99/00 up to 01/02 I swear.
