  1. Despite his best efforts in this stage... "Drat! Double Drat! And Triple Drat!"
  2. Well Ajax did their job with a 3-0 win over PSV. Arjen Robben, however, in the final match of his career got sent off and we lost 1-4. It has been fun, Feyenoord.
  3. Since then Ajax have fallen away, and PSV have won six on the trot. We drew 0-0 at Amsterdam, and have won our past five. We got past Porto 3-1 on aggregate and then were caned 1-8 by Bayern Munich. Well I feel dirty - I have to support Ajax. Comes down to the last fixture: we play 12th placed Roda JC away in a match we should win. We need PSV to either lose or draw away at Ajax, though, just days after they play Ajax at De Kuip in the KNVB Cup final. Hopefully some of our local fans can hamstring a few of their players. If we can't win this, I might seek a job in Germany or something. If we do, I have some thinking to do.
  4. She apparently lost that match against Frazier 1-6, 6-0, 6-0, too!
  5. Coming up to the pointiest time of the season in my quest to remain in the Champions League. Top two play CL football, and after that it is Europa League stuff. Not where I want to be. The title is still a slight possibility, but six points in seven games could be too far. Our next week is going to be a fucking balltearer. vs. Ajax @ Amsterdam Arena vs. Porto @ De Kuip We've won our last five against Ajax including a 7-0 thrashing earlier in the year, but they are a far better team than that now. We managed to salvage a 1-1 draw away at Porto in the first leg of the knock out round, but it'll be very tough. The good news is that after the Ajax match, we don't play a top six side again for the rest of the season and don't have to worry about the KNVB Beker after being shocked by De Graafschap in the fourth round.
  6. Got greedy and said to the board we'd retain the title this season. In deep poo by November in 10th place and twelve points behind league leaders Vitesse. Thought we'd turned a corner with a 7-0 win over Ajax (!!) and a 1-0 win over defending Champions League winners Marseille, but no. Should make it through the group stage of the CL, though. Sitting second after four with 7 points - three ahead of Køpenhavn and five ahead of Benfica. Had a 0-4 shocker at Marseille, though. Might be looking for a new a job before the season is through at this rate. EDIT: Also can't help but thinking I've overloaded on the old timers. My best XI includes Dirk Kuyt, Demy de Zeeuw, Ron Vlaar and now Arjen Robben...
  7. As far as strikers go, I loaned a guy from Dortmund for the season and he just wouldn't stop scoring. All up scored 47 from 46 appearances, and also managed 19 assists and 15 MoMs. He's valued at around 4 million Euro, and I'm trying to stump up 8 million to get him for good. Was immense.
  8. Feel for the NEC goalkeeper. He conceded 10 to us in the KNVB Cup earlier in the year, and now goes and concedes a lazy eight to PSV. Massive chance to win the league I feel. Six games to play and we are six points clear of Ajax with a game in hand and 13 from PSV. Won a massive Klassieker showdown at home 3-1 to pull six clear of the Ajax. EDIT: 2-0 win at PSV means it'll take a colossal choke from here.
  9. Only if you request that they change their name by deed poll in the player interaction section.
  10. As in Scott Brown, Darren Green, Peter Blue and Alvin Purple?
  11. Through to the group stage of the Europa League with a 6-3 aggregate win over Roma. We have Olympiakos, Club Brugge and Torino in our group which is doable. Elsewhere, Fulham seem to have been taken over by a fairly rich guy and have finished third and second in their last two years.
  12. I really couldn't give a fuck. I'd much rather they spent their time cracking down on supporters who, in the 21st century, think it's acceptable to single people out because of the colour of their skin. But no, lets make sure Paddy Power don't get a cheap advert during a game. But it isn't as if they are doing one at the expense of the other - they have the ability to do both things effectively. It is fine to say that they should be fining clubs more for racist fans or whatever, but fining players who find ways to flog products against the rules isn't a waste of time because they aren't doing more about racism. The two things aren't linked. The federation is within their rights to protect their interests by stopping players from advertising brands where they probably have some sort of lucrative sponsorship deal with a competitor. That being said, there's an argument that them actually issuing a fine gives the company far more exposure than they ever would have had in the first place which is probably why the company did it in the first place.
  13. After a massive win away at PSV, we're still a real sniff at winning the title with six games to play. Also into the final four of the Dutch Cup - play non-league side Veendam in the semis and could play the winner of Helmond Sport and Utrecht. Gotta be favourites to win from here. As you can see, we score goals for fun but the defence is very leaky. Won't get any better with captain Ron Vlaar set to miss two months with a torn groin. He's a great player, but that's eight injuries he's suffered during matches this season. Getting very annoying. Bit shit for my old side who looked destined for playoffs, but they aren't as bad as GAE at least! Kuyt meanwhile has been very good and worth the €15,000 a week he's being paid. We stopped Arsenal from snatching him in the summer transfer window, but he's been so good splitting his time between the right and up front. Scored 14 in 31 matches and has laid off another 12. Was enough to earn him a Dutch recall, and he's now represented Holland 105 times all up.
  14. Yeah, I think I'll go the way of resigned from my club if I get offered a job. Oh, and fuck off these late goals I'm conceding. Reckon I've given away about ten points now through late winners and equalisers in the first ten games. It is ridiculous. Also, my old side's top half run has come to a thundering halt with a 0-7 loss to Ajax. A lazy six of those from Sigþórsson.
  15. How would it work in real life? I'm playing this game on the basis that I'll accept job offers that I reckon my good would if the money and prestige actually meant something (hence the move to Feyenoord), but do most international managers only manage a national team or just those in charge of the bigger nations?
  16. Out of interest, when you guys accept a national job do you resign from your club post?
  17. The good work of my board springing Inter as my parent club is slightly undone by the two-year deal I gave to 33-year old Dirk Kuyt to return to Feyenoord...
  18. First match against my old side... Talk about a kick in the nuts. Sums up where we are, tbh. Don't think I'll make it through next season in charge. Dunno where I'll get the money to make a change, either.
  19. Don't let me down! Sorry man, it is a struggle early. Sitting seventh with eight games left - four points behind fourth, but we've played an extra game. Underestimated the fucking debt they are in - about 30 million euros in loans so bleeding money. Does anyone have advice how to deal with that sort of thing? I'm under the wage budget, but they are shedding like 3 million a month. Is it a case of there's nothing I can do?
  20. Well, despite the success of last season it has been a bit tougher for Zwolle this season and after seventeen games we sat 13th - four points clear of the relegation playoffs. The team hasn't been able to buy a goal, and despite thinking I could go a bit further with them I couldn't turn down a new job offer: After finishing fifth last season, Feyenoord sit in ninth - actually only two points ahead of Zwolle - and that was enough to get rid of Ronald Koeman. It is without doubt a far stronger team, though, and hopefully I can return them to their past success!
  21. gagf. Actually cannot believe this cup run. The game shitting itself when it did probably helped, as we scored inside the first minute. I feel a little bit cheated by that, but not complaining with the €2 million we won. We also won our first round of the promotion/relegation play-offs 5-0 on aggregate against Dordrecht. Coming up against 17th placed Eredivisie side Volendam next who we struggled against in the Eerste Divisie last season.
  22. Oh, oh, oh. Second last matchday of the season and we're at home to Telstar with league leaders NEC at home to Sparta. NEC are five points ahead going into the fixture, but manage to lose 1-2 meaning a victory would be fucking epic for us. 28 minutes in we are 3-0 up and absolutely coasting - nearly level on goal difference with NEC. Then we fucking well concede three goals, and were lucky not to concede another. I throw everything at them, and Maceo Rigters comes up with the winner in the 88th minute! It has basically fucked us still, because even if NEC draw the last match and we win our goal difference is +35 and they sit at +38. So we basically need them to lose to Telstar, who we just edged. EDIT: Telstar drew 2-2 despite going up twice. We won 2-1. Second on goal difference, and now have to play play-offs to earn promotion. EDIT AGAIN: Unfortunately my game pooed itself inside the first five minutes of my KNVB Cup final (it was 0-0, I swear!) and I hadn't saved before the match against Telstar. I went on holiday for the last two games this time, and the title race was much less exciting as NEC won it with a game to spare. In the game against Den Bosch, we ended up winning 5-3. Depressingly, my Congolese striker who had gone 18 appearances without a goal scored four, and I didn't get to witness it.
  23. umm what Winner scored by the guy who had gone ten hours without scoring.
