Yeessss this is a pretty big result on my fourth Champions League attempt. Five of those conceded goals came in our final match against Chelsea where I experimented a little bit (with little success) en route to a 5-0 rout at Stamford Bridge. We clearly took advantage of a pretty generous group draw, but I'm not complaining because it is a huge boost to the coefficient of our little all-Nordic side. In the round of 16 we've been drawn against... Sevilla - a winnable tie after they finished second in a soft group including Anderlecht and Steaua.

After being drawn a Champions League group including Barcelona, Liverpool and AC Milan, I dare to dream... If we somehow manage to pull this off, it'll be my first time outside of the CL group stages with this squad. We have just one non-Scandinavian player on our books - Claudemir who started the game with the club.

Where did you get this from?!

I've only ever played four - VII, VIII, X and XII. From those I only finished VII and X. From what I remember, VIII was pretty fun, but I only got as far as the second disc before losing the third disc when I moved house when I was younger, so I never finished it. I eventually found that disc and tried re-starting the game, but wasn't feeling it. XII wasn't my favourite. The story lacked a big bad guy to go up against, and I just felt like playing it was a chore. I hated the lack of random encounters, too, which means the series is essentially ruined for me. IIRC, XII involved a lot of walking back-and-forth from place-to-place, which got extremely tiresome. X was the first game I've played and I actually finished it twice. I think it is a pretty awesome game, really. The story is good, there's some cool characters, and Seymour is a wicked bad guy. The Aeons were the best summon characters of the four games I've played, too. The only real downside is the end of the game where the final bosses were pretty awful. I played VII a couple of years ago and had a great time with it. I can only imagine how awesome it would have been for people when it first came out without the benefit of subsequent graphic improvements, because it is a heap of fun with a great story and a really solid main cast of characters. I mean realistically most of the main characters in these games are the same, but the supporting characters in VII were great and completely different to subsequent games. I found XII took itself too seriously, and we'll never see people like Vincent, Red XIII and Cait again which is a real shame.

The heartbreak of going ahead 4-3 on aggregate away at Valencia only to bottle it and concede two goals in the Champions League play-offs has been put behind me as we somehow hammered Atletico Madrid 4-0 at home in the Europa League Second Knockout Round. We have Bayer Leverkusen next, and then either Chelsea or Galatasaray in the semis if we make it that far. Really enjoying this game with København. I've made a rule of only signing Scandinavian players so far, I'll eventually allow myself a couple of non-Scandis at the club. The ultimate aim, though, is to win the CL with a starting Scandinavian XI. The transfer system seems to work a lot better in this game than in the past, too - i.e. I can actually sell players for a decent value instead of having to ship them off at below market price. Incredibly sad to hear that Tony Greig passed away today from a heart attack. I don't normally take celebrity deaths to heart, but feeling incredibly flat about this. Greigy was a huge part of my childhood and has basically been a fixture of my summers for all of my cricket watching life. It is really a bit of a shock that it came so quickly after the announcement of his lung cancer earlier in the summer, and I don't think cricket watching will ever be the same without Tony and Bill in the box together.

After filling our boots 1-0 at home to Galatasarary and then 2-2 away at Juve, I felt confident for our Stamford Bridge trip. The 8-3 loss didn't help our confidence - but can we say we won the last hour having gone behind 6-0 after half an hour? That's basically a win, right?

The New Europe database is so exciting. Was handed my first Champions League group with København - Chelsea, Juventus and Galatasaray. Could have been worse - poor old BATE landed Barcelona, PSG and Borussia Dortmund.

I find that difficult to believe. I mean there's no way Sydney FC would have got the crowds they have got this year (being as bad as they've been) with Sturridge instead of Del Piero. Wait, was it even a thing?

Four years running, finals campaign finishes against Melbourne Fucking Victory. This time thanks to a 112th minute own goal in the Grand Final. Oh, we also had an equaliser questionably ruled offside. Fuck I hate them so much.

You know, fuck Melbourne Victory. Three years in a row we've gone out to them in the finals. This time, in the semis again, we were leading 1-0 for basically all of the match until, of course, we conceded from a corner with the last kick of the game and then lost in extra time. This is the worst.

Well, less fun now. Again won the Minor Premiership easily, and this time met the Victory (again) at the semi-final stage. They were of course shit all season, but had won their last five. 21 shots on goal to 3, two disallowed goals for 1-1. Lost 6-7 on penalties. GAGFC
