Why would Atlanta and Columbus go? They both have promising young players and a couple stars or stars in the making (Heater, Kovy, ATL and Nash, CBS), and they haven't been in the league long. And the way the Thrashers played the first half of the year is showing things are looking bright. Plus Atlanta still has a couple of pretty good prospects coming in going by the names of Lehtonen and Colburn. And Columbus has Zherdev who could also turn out to be a very good player.

Because they hemorrage cash and nobody really cares about them in their market

They have enough money to last throughout the strike. They made sure of it by cutting payroll.

Currently Pittsburgh is losing money and if there is no hockey season then Pittsburgh loses more money due to no revenue being generated from ticket and merchandise sales therefore forcing Lemieux to either sell the team or close it down

Yes, I know that. But they have cut payroll enough that they will not go bankrupt.

They are losing the LEAST amount of money in the NHL. Therefore, logic would state that they are in the best position out of the 19 teams losing money to remain a viable franchise after the strike.

<_< bastard

btw, Damshow. Why exactaly would Buffalo and/or Ottawa need financial assistance if they just got new owners who are willing to spill out money. Isn't Eugine Melnuk (Sens Owner) a billioniare?

Yeah, I wasn't sure on if both of those things were true or not... so I listed them.

Why are they losing money when there's a lockout/no hockey played? As far as I know, when the CBA expires in September the contracts between players and clubs don't mean a thing. So players are not getting payed and the Penguins - or any other team - won't lose money. At least not as much as before, because they don't have to spent money for salaries.
