Animated Files

I dunno how to phrase the question exactly, but what file formats support animation? If that makes sense.. I have an animated icon that I want to use on my LiveJournal, but it's 3 KB over the 40 KB limit on LiveJournal. It's in .gif format and I was wondering if there's any other format I can change it to.

.GIF is the only one I know of. I don't think you can do animation on .PNG and I know for sure you can't one .JPG. You could do a .WMV but that'd be a huge file.

Yeah, as far as I know GIF is the only file format that supports animation. That's why they call them animated GIFs.

That blows. I need to find some way to chop off those 3 kb so I can use the avatar on LJ.
