Just about anything from Duran Duran, Weird Al Yankovic, Prince, Van Halen, Depeche Mode, the Cure, Billy Idol and Blondie.

on top of that:

The Knack - My Sharona (although that may have been 1979, but close enough)

The Cars - Moving In Stereo (again, late 70s, but Fast Times at Ridgemont High... Phoebe Cates... Boing)

Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra

Prince - just about anything

Johnny Hates Jazz - Shattered Dreams

Corey Hart - Sunglasses at Night

Ray Parker Jr. - Ghostbusters

Huey Lewis & The News - The Heart of Rock & Roll (I'm so lame)

so much stuff, just off the top of my head.

Any song made by AC/DC during the 80s. Otherwise the entire Back in Black album and three tracks on Who Made Who.

Metallica had some awesome shit in the 80s, too.

As for the 80s new wave/hair metal shit, all I've listened to has pretty much been mentioned.

Wait, so I don't forget, Ozzy's solo stuff ruled in the 80s. I believe that was during the hey day when tracks like Crazy train, Flying High Again, and Bark at the Moon.

Not counting metal (because we'd be here all day) like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Metallica, etc, my favorites from the 80's would be....

Bryan Adams - Summer Of 69

REO Speedwagon - Keep On Loving You

Cutting Crew - Died In Your Arms Tonight

Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer

Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget About Me)

Toto - Africa

Journey - Don't Stop Believing

Lionel Richie - Running With The Night

Run DMC - Rock Box

Squeeze - Tempted

Rush - Tom Sawyer

Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

Michael Jackson - Billie Jean

Public Enemy - Rebel Without A Pause

That's a quick list off the top of my head, but I'm sure I'll think of many more as I read other posts. A lot of guilty pleasures on that list, but my favorite type of music from the 80's is of the metal variety.

The 80s were a great decade for music. There was a lot of shite, but so much quality stuff, like every decade, I suppose.

The Smiths, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cult, Sisters Of Mercy, Killing Joke, All About Eve....my list goes on for miles, and it's all incredible.
