Music

(aka, the category where my opinion counts for shit ¬_¬)

Best Band: Edguy

Best Solo Artist: *shrugs* Justin Hawkins, since he's the only solo artist I've liked anything by this year.

Best Album: Battlelore - The Third Age of the Sun

Best Single: Singles are a waste of money.

Best Live Act: Dragonforce

Best Newcomer: James Blunt. Anyone who can get that popular with that little talent deserves an award. Besides, he didn't have to buy this one.

Worst Band: My Chemical fucking Romance.

Worst Single: Greenday - Wake Me Up When September Ends (How long, drawn out and monotous can a song be? Surely this pushes the boundaries past even SOAD levels?)

Next Big Thing: I would've given this to Nightwish before Tarja left. But without her...hmm... Caliban? They're not big yet... I don't think. Don't really pay much attention to who likes what.

Hall of Fame Entrant: Wouldn't this require, ya know, a Hall of Fame? How are we supposed to know who's in it already? My vote would go to Judas Priest.

Film

(Bearing in mind I've only seen a handful).

Best Overall Film: Kingdom of Heaven

Best Horror/Thriller Film: Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Wererabbit ¬_¬

Best Comedy: Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Wererabbit ¬_¬

Best Drama: Kingdom of Heaven

Best Non-Fiction/Fact Based Film: Haven't seen any (I'm assuming Kingdom of Heaven doesn't quite count? ¬_¬)

Best Actor: David Tennant (also wins the award for "Person Who Looks Most Like Chris Barrie". Beating Chris Barrie himself).

Best Actress: No vote. Haven't seen enough movies with standout performances from female stars to nominate.

Best Plot Line (Regardless of film quality): Doom ¬_¬ Err..seriously, Kingdom of Heaven. Again. You can tell I liked that movie can't you.

Best Director: Ridley Scott (¬_¬ I have seen more than two movies. Honest).

Worst Film: The Brothers Grimm (see...)

Most Anticipated Release: I'm going to be crucified for saying this, but... Narnia.

Best Soundtrack: No vote.

Hall Of Fame Entrant (Actor, Actress or Director): Again..there needs to actually be a hall of fame to add people TO, but Christopher Lee deserves to be in any HoF.

Television

Best Comedy Show: Mock the Week

Best Drama: Lost! Lost Lost Lost Lost Lost!

Best Sitcom: Scrubs

Best Storyline: The whole of the main Lost storyline.

Best Channel: BBC3

Best Reality Show: Bit of an oxymoron there, as Ringy said...

Best Quiz/Gameshow: QI!

Worst Show: Little Britain. It's just not funny :/ It has it's moments with Lou and Andy, but even they're few and far between because every show is exactly the same.

Games

Best Game: Since World of Warcraft was released in 2004, I'm guessing it doesn't count? If it does, then that. If not, Chaos League: Sudden Death.

(For those saying GTA:SA...what are you ON? That was released last OCTOBER! It's nowhere near 2005... Unlike WoW which was early December and therefore almost makes it. Besides which, they're still releasing content patches, some of which most games companies would try to pass off as expansion packs and make you pay for, so...)

Worst Game: Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without A Pulse. It's an ok game, but you can finish it before you can finish saying the title, and it's replay value is...limited.

Best Game Character: There aren't any good characters anymore :( Bring back the old days. Or the new Metal Gear game. Seriously, what the hell happened to a good story? Nowadays it's all first-person shooters, War games, or MMORPG's. Or games like Fable that try to be offline MMORPG's because it's easier than actually trying.

Best System: PSP, because it's better than the DS and I don't own any others.

Most Anticipated Release: The Burning Crusade expansion for World of Warcraft. Even though Blizzard are slowly destroying the WoW universe in the persuit of more money, it's still the most exciting thing on the horizon. Which says a lot.

Best Soundtrack: World of Warcraft. Mainly because I haven't played many others that had decent soundtracks at all this year.

Best Developer: Blizzard, although their crown is slipping.

Sports

Best Team: Chelsea

Best Sportsperson: Frank Lampard

Best Sporting Event: England's Ashes win.

Best/Favourite Match: Chelsea vs Bolton, October 2005.

Most Overrated: Team: Arsenal. Player: Peter Crouch.

Hall Of Fame: Again, you can't put people in a hall of fame that's not there. But if we're assuming nobody is there, then you can't go wrong with Muhammed Ali.

(YI - a 'Comedy Show' is any show which is supposed to be funny, such as Not the Nine O'Clock News, Little Britain, Mock The Week, the Fast Show, etc. A Sitcom is a more soap-like show, which is funny. Like Friends, Two Guys and a Girl, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps (by far the best sitcom EVAR!), Only Fools And Horses, etc). A show that has storylines and characters and stuff, rather than just sketches or comedians being funny).

Music

Best Band: Broken Social Scene

Best Solo Artist: Martha Wainwright

Best Album: Martha Wainwright - I Will Internalize

Best Single: K-os - "Love Song" Go 2004 songs getting released as singles in 2005 and thus being eligible!

Best Live Act: Ack, tough. I've seen about 100 concerts this year. Bob Dylan, Sigur Ros, and Martha Wainwright all rank high, but I'll go with Keren Ann.

Best Newcomer: Hrm. Martha has been in the "business" for some years now, and I don't really want her sweeping the awards. So, I'll go with Wolf Parade.

Worst Band: My Chemical Romance/Green Day/Simple Plan/The Killers/Coheed and Cambria/Death Cab for Cutie/etc...

Worst Single: Green Day - "Wake Me Up When September Ends."

Next Big Thing: Uh... hrm. Tough. I'll say Black Mountain, but I don't really see them "exploding" like other Canadian artists of late. I really wish Les George Leningrad would get more recognition, though.

EDIT:

Ah, I thought it was the next next big thing. Probably The Arcade Fire, as they've gone from playing clubs with a capacity of 800-ish to selling out 4000 seaters, sharing a stage with David Bowie, and opening with U2. But if you're looking for a break-through artist who released their album this year (The Arcade Fire, while releasing Funeral last year, got much if their press this year) I'll go with one of the following: Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Sufjan Stevens, The New Pornographers, Art Brut, Bloc Party, or Martha Wainwright. With the big winner being M.I.A.

Hall of Fame Entrant: Bob Dylan.

Film

Best Overall Film: Water.

Best Comedy: It's All Gone, Pete Tong.

Best Drama: You, Me, and Everyone We Know.

Best Non-Fiction/Fact Based Film: Born into Brothels, although I think that's 2004. So, I'll go with Good Night... and Good Luck, because I can't think of the name of the name for that grizzly bear movie.

Best Actor: Matt Murphy (The Life and Hard Times of Guy Terrifico)

Best Actress: Agnieszka Grochowska (Warsaw)

Best Plot Line (Regardless of film quality): Water

Best Director: Deepa Mehta (Water)

Worst Film: Uh. Jarhead, I guess. I'd like to say Brokeback Mountain, but it's not bad, just incredibly overrated.

Most Anticipated Release: The Man With the Screaming Brain.

Best Soundtrack: Drawing Restraint 9/No Direction Home: Bob Dylan

Hall Of Fame Entrant (Actor, Actress or Director): Ray Liota, just because.

Television

Best Comedy Show: The Tournament

Best Drama: Gilmore Girls

Best Sitcom: Arrested Development

Best Storyline: Doctor Who/Rescue Me

Best Channel: CBC

Best Reality Show: The Apprentice

Worst Show: Prison Break

Games

Best Game: Shadow of the Colossus

Worst Game: Fable: The Lost Chapters

Best Game Character: The King of All Cosmos

Best System: Nintendo DS, hands down.

Most Anticipated Release: Shadow of the Colossus/NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2005

Best Soundtrack: We <3 Katamari

Best Developer: Namco

Sports

Best Team: The Vancouver Whitecaps

Best Sportsperson: Don Taylor

Best Sporting Event: 2005 World Junior Hockey Championship

Best/Favourite Match: Edmonton Eskimos vs. Montreal Als in the 93rd Annual Grey Cup

Most Overrated: Overrated what? I'll go A-Rod.

Hall Of Fame: Mark Messier
