Hardy After WWE Heavyweight Title

Edge mad his first appearance on Smackdown! as WWE Heavyweight Champion and he wishes that it turned out a bit different as the night came to a close though. Smackdown! got kicked off with Edge coming down to the ring with the WWE Heavyweight Championship around his waist with Lita right behind him. They got in the ring and Edge grabbed a mic. Edge started everything off by saying that he came to Smackdown! for one reason and that was that he can do what he wants when he wants as he makes the rules as he is now known as the Rated R Superstar so he made the rules to switch brands. Edge then went on saying that now he has finished off Matt Hardy, he is old news as he is still on RAW. Then all of a sudden out came former WWE Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton. Orton got in the ring and was handed a mic. Orton got in Edge’s face and told him that he has a problem on Smackdown! and that was him. Orton said that Edge got lucky last Sunday at Summerslam. He said that he fought the match of this life against The Game and then Edge was just lucky to be in the right spot at the right time. Orton went on saying that tonight the title will be back where it belongs as Edge has his four days of fame as Champion. Edge didn’t like Orton’s comments and just told Orton that everyone will see who the better man is tonight. Finally, it was time for the main event and it was time for Edge to make his first title defense. The match began with Edge jumping Orton from behind to gain the early advantage. The match moved on with both men staying very even. The finish was then coming very close and Lita tried to get in the action. She got in the ring, but the ref quickly got her out. But when the ref turned his back, Edge nailed a low blow on Orton and then hit him with the Edgecution! All Edge needed to do was cover Orton, but all of a sudden Matt Hardy’s music hits! Edge called Lita in the ring and put her in front of him. They looked at the ramp, but Hardy was nowhere to be found. But then he came running through the crowd and slipped in the ring behind Edge. He then took Edge and tossed him out of the ring. The ref called for a DQ right away on Orton making Edge get the DQ victory. Hardy then locked his eyes on Lita as Hardy was after her. Before Hardy could do anything to Lita, Edge pulled her right out of the ring. The show ended with Hardy screaming on the mic that at No Mercy he wants his shot at the WWE Heavyweight Title! He then screamed, “I WILL NOT DIE ADAM!!!” as Smackdown! ended.

Before this huge match happened, the match that kicked off the show was the returning Eddie Guerrero in an easy match up against cruiserweight, Funaki. Eddie Guerrero made quick work of Funaki and quickly pinned him following the Frog Splash. After the match ended though, Eddie got on the mic and said that it is great to be back especially since now he can kick Undertaker’s ass. He said that it felt great screwing Taker at Summerslam in the 20 Man Battle Royal and he can’t wait until he can do something like that again. Then all of a sudden you heard the gong and the arena turned into dark purple lights. Eddie was shaking a bit and down came Undertaker. He stopped halfway on the ramp. He put his arms up and struck them down making a bolt of lighting strike down right next to Eddie. Undertaker then had a mic and said that Eddie will soon enough rest in peace.

Following this was Carlito’s first title defense back as US Champion. Carlito came down to the ring and got on the mic. He said that at the last Smackdown! he defeated an un-cool superstar of Orlando Jordan to once again become Champion. Carlito then said that he is done with Orlando Jordan though as already stated he isn’t cool and doesn’t deserve another title shot. So Carlito made an open challenge putting his title on the line for anyone besides Jordan. So down came the monster Bobby Lashley with The Coach not to far behind him. The Coach said that Lashley will accept Carlito’s challenge and as well take the US Title. Well, the second part didn’t happen as Carlito remained US Champion. It wasn’t easy for nor did he do it on his own. The match ended with Orlando Jordan coming down to the ring and distracting Bobby Lashley because he made it like Lashley took his spot. So Lashley was distracted and this allowed Carlito to roll up Lashley and retain the title giving Lashley his first loss in the WWE.

At Summerslam the new Cabinet of JBL and Mr. Andy Anderson worked together with Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle who defeated Chris Benoit and HBK earlier in the night at Summerslam. So Benoit and HBK didn’t like that so challenged the new Cabinet and that was a big mistake as it was mainly an impossible match to win. During the match the ref got knocked down when JBL missed Benoit with a Clothesline From Hell. This allowed Angle and Joe run down to the ring and make it a 4 on 2 attack on Benoit and HBK. Joe hit the Muscle Buster on HBK three times and Angle almost broke Benoit’s ankle. Joe and Angle then woke the ref back up and the ref counted the three as Anderson covered HBK for the victory.

Also on this edition of Smackdown! was Triple H complaining to Teddy Long about getting a title shot. Triple H first told Teddy that he wants a title shot as he got screwed at Summerslam and JBL better have not asked for one because he told him that he would. Long said that JBL has asked and Long said that if he won the tag match he could get a shot and Long said that Triple H deserved another shot too. So Long said that at No Mercy it will be a Triple Threat Match with the winner becoming the Number One Contender! It will be Triple H vs. JBL vs. the losing man of tonight’s title match, so either Randy Orton or Edge! Triple H liked what he heard and said that soon enough he will become the WWE Heavyweight Champion!

The Rock’s First Match Back

August 29, 2005

Last week on RAW, it was Batista’s turn for surprises as he surprised everyone including Goldberg and the rest of the nWo by bringing back The Rock! The Rock is currently not staring in another movie until past WrestleMania so that means The Rock could be here for sometime as of now. But with The Rock returning, this made it a little bit even, but it is still a 3 on 2 between nWo and Batista and The Rock.

This week on RAW Goldberg will have the chance to once again be able to face The Animal, Batista for the World Heavyweight Title at Unforgiven. All Goldberg has to do is beat an old rival and once again a new rival of his, The Rock. It isn’t just only as it won’t be easy for Goldberg, but Goldberg does have Scott Hall and Kevin Nash behind him and Goldberg also promised if he really needs backup, he has it covered.

Also on RAW, Chris Jericho will be confronting John Cena, Booker T will be confronting Christian and Big Show will be confronting Kane. The first two matches are the two newest signed for Unforgiven with the last one already signed, but what will all these guys have to say as Unforgiven gets closer.

Tonight, the Television Title Tournament continues. Last week we saw Rob Conway, Kid Kash, Paul Burchill, and Muhammad Hassan all advance to the second round. Tonight is the last night for the first round. The matches for the night will be: Rey Mysterio facing off against Maven, Chris Punk taking on Simon Dean, Chris Masters going one on one with Snitsky, and Hurricane facing Psicosis. All of these matches could steal the show, but with The Rock vs. Goldberg as the main event it might be tough.

Will Goldberg be able to defeat The Rock and get another Title Shot? What is Goldberg’s backup if needed? What do the six men who all have a match at Unforgiven have to say? Who will be the last four guys advancing to the second round?

nWo Gets Larger

Last week on RAW, Batista introduced his surprise to the nWo as The Rock and then tonight on RAW, The Rock had his first match back against Goldberg! Before the match actually happened though there was a big altercation between the nWo and Batista and The Rock when RAW started. The show got kicked off with the World Heavyweight Champion coming down to the ring and calling down The Rock. The Great One then got on the mic and said his famous catchphrase, “Finally! The Rock has come back to the W-W-E!!!” The Rock then went on saying that he returned for one reason and one reason only and that was to go after the nWo once again! He said that he was watching Summerslam relaxing at home and then all of a sudden he saw the washed up Kevin Nash and Scott Hall come out to form the newest nWo. So then Batista called him later in the night and asked for some help and he said he will be at RAW the next night as he will bring the whooping and just make sure nWo brings the ass! The Rock then said that now since he is back he is ready for action and ready to defeat Goldberg once and for all so he could leave Batista alone! Finally, the nWo came out and it brewed up some trouble. Goldberg got in The Rock’s face and said that Nash and Hall weren’t washed up, but he was. The Rock then got pissed off and took Goldberg to the mat! They started punching away and then Hall and Nash attacked Batista. Batista quickly threw both guys out of the ring and then made the save for The Rock! Batista threw Goldberg out of the ring and told him he won’t be getting another Title Shot! It was then time for the main event and The Rock came out first with the World Heavyweight Champion right behind him. Goldberg came out, but he had more of an advantage behind him as he had two guys in the rest of the nWo. This was a great match with a lot of interference going on without the ref calling anything. After a long fifteen minutes, the match was coming to a close. Goldberg was in control, but then Batista tried to distract Goldberg. Goldberg didn’t like that and came to the outside and nailed Batista with a huge Spear right into the barricade! Goldberg then got in the ring and charged at The Rock with a Spear, but he dodged it and Goldberg hit the ref! Right then and there in came Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. The Rock fought both guys off though and then even fought off Goldberg. The Rock was the only man standing until down came running two guys who looks exactly alike. They came in and attacked The Rock and quickly enough hit him with a huge Double Powerbomb! Goldberg then got up and when The Rock did, Goldberg nailed him with a Spear. Goldberg then got the cover on The Rock and the ref slowly recovered and counted the three count! Goldberg got up after the match with Batista down on the outside and The Rock down in the ring! Goldberg then got on the mic and said he will see Batista at Unforgiven as The Rock will see both Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, a match he can’t back out of. Goldberg then said that he would like to welcome the monstrous tag team of Mike and Todd Shane to the nWo who will be soon taking over the tag team division!

During RAW, Chris Jericho held the Highlight Reel once again and he had five guests, the most he has ever had on the talk show. Everyone was in the ring waiting for the host of the show, Chris Jericho though as the wrestlers were starting to get impatient. Finally, down came Jericho and he got in the ring. Jericho started talking by saying that everyone has a match at Unforgiven in this ring. They all agreed with a yes. Then he said that one guy is facing another guy who is standing in the ring. Again they all agreed with a yes. Jericho then said that wouldn’t it be nice if they all had a shot at the World Heavyweight Title? For a third time everyman agreed with a yes. Jericho said that it is possible as the three matches happening at Unforgiven which are Big Show vs. Kane, Booker T vs. Christian and himself vs. John Cena, the winners of each match will possibly get a shot at the Title. Possibly because all three men will be put in a vote for Taboo Tuesday and the man with the most votes will be going on to face the World Heavyweight Champion at Unforgiven! All the other men in the ring liked what they heard, but then Booker T started talking trash. They lead to a huge brawl with the setup of the Highlight Reel getting destroyed. After the short brawl there were three men standing and they were Big Show, Chris Jericho and Booker T, the three heels in the three different matches!

Also on RAW was the continuation of the first round matches of the Television Title Tournament. The first two matches that happened in the night were the two worst matches of the night as Rey Mysterio had an easy victory over Maven who had no chance and the same with Chris Punk defeating Simon Dean. Mysterio quickly defeated Maven with a 619 followed up with a West Coast Pop. Chris Punk won his match quickly after nailing an Enziguri Kick on Dean following up with The Plunge. This means that next week in the second round it will be Chris Punk facing Rey Mysterio.

In the other two matches, they were the two better ones as Chris Masters faced Gene Snitsky with Hurricane facing Psicosis. First up was Masters against Snitsky and it was Snitsky dominating most of the match. A lot of people thought it would be an easy victory for Masters, but that wasn’t true as Snitsky put up a great fight, but he wound up falling short anyway as Masters was able to lock in the Master Lock. The other match was some great cruiserweight action with Psicosis coming up a little short as he missed his Flying Leg Drop which gave the advantage to Hurricane who nailed an Enziguri Kick on Psicosis for the victory. This made the final match in the second round to be Hurricane facing Chris Masters.
