DETROIT (Dec. 31) - Obie Trice, a protege of Eminem, was shot early Saturday while driving on a city highway, police said.

Someone in another car shot through the back window of 28-year-old Trice's vehicle as he drove along the Lodge Freeway around 1:10 a.m., said Michigan State Police Sgt. Mario Gonzales.

The Detroit native managed to continue driving and got off the freeway in the suburb of Southfield, where his girlfriend, also in the vehicle, flagged down police, Gonzales said. The girlfriend wasn't wounded.

Police didn't release where the bullet struck Trice. He was taken to Providence Hospital, where he was treated and released, said hospital spokesman Brian Taylor.

There were no suspects in the shooting, which was under investigation by state police detectives, Gonzales said.

Trice contributed to the song "Drips" on Eminem's 2002 album "The Eminem Show" and got more exposure by delivering the opening lines "Obie Trice-real name, no gimmicks" on the lead single "Without Me."

In addition to Eminem, Trice also has rapped with 50 Cent. Trice's 2003 debut album "Cheers" was produced by Eminem, and he also had a small part in the feature film "8 Mile," which starred Eminem.

Trice was signed to Eminem's label, Shady Records, a joint venture with Universal Music Group's Interscope Records. Messages seeking comment were left Saturday for UMG and Shady Records.

If he was just grazed then he would have been released. It really depends, and since they didn't release where he did then basically we're talking about nothing here. Anyways, glad he survived, he hasn't done anything recently though.

I guess he wants to sell more albums, only 8 more bullets to catch up to 50

50 only got shot three times, he lied about the rest to look good.

A rapper got shot. Is that still news, or is it just because this one didn't die?

Well, they say the survival rate for shot rappers is increasing...

Obie Trice recently revealed details about an incident that left the rapper with a bullet – in his head.

Obie Trice was shot last Saturday (Dec. 31, 2005) while driving on the Lodge Freeway in Detroit, Michigan.

He was treated and released, but the rapper the bullet has yet to be removed from the rapper’s head.

“They didn’t take the bullet out my head,” Obie Trice said. “It didn’t penetrate my skull or nothing, but they didn’t want to go inside my head and mess with the blood vessels.”

According to Trice, he was shot with a low caliber weapon, a 9 millimeter handgun.

Shortly, the rapper will return to a doctor seeking an expert opinion on whether or not they should operate to remove the bullet.

“I don’t know where it came from, you know what I’m saying? I really don’t have a take on that, a lot of people are jealous, and jealous, and envious and hateful.”

Michigan State Police have called on witnesses to come forward to help identify the shooter.

Someone shot from a car, into another car, through a blackened window, and hit Obie in the head without harming his girlfriend?

That guy deserves a medal, and a callup to the US Army :P

Makes you wonder though... if it didn't penetrate the skull, yet would need an operation to be removed, where the fuck is it?
