Gorilla Monsoon: "Welcome everyone to Dayton, Ohio! Welcome everyone to a sold out Nutter Center! Welcome everyone to King of the Ring! Hi everyone, welcome to the first ever broadcasted King of the Ring tournament. Tonight 8 men will battle each other in a grueling 8-man elimination tournament to determine the number one contender for the WWF championship, a title which will also be decided tonight when Hulk Hogan takes on an International Force member! I'm Gorilla Monsoon, along side Bobby Heenan."

Bobby Heenan: "Monsoon, this is going to be the International Force's night! They will capture the WWF championship, The Dynamite Kid will win the tournament and of course, Owen Hart will get rid of that Darren Malenko once and for all."

Monsoon: "Of course Darren Malenko and Owen Hart going one on one for the vacant TV championship. Also tonight, the much anticipated WWF Intercontinental championship match between champion Shawn Michaels and challenger The Kamikaze Kid, who could make history tonight by becoming the youngest champion ever."

Heenan: "We're also going to see new WWF Tag Team champions as Damage Inc. beat those Steiner Brothers!"

Monsoon: "We'll just see about that (Jeff Patriot's music starts) and listen to this ovation for Jeff Patriot! King of the Ring 1993, here we go!"

By the way, I'm Tony Atkin and here is the WWF 1993 King of the Ring report.

King of the Ring quarter-finals #1: Jeff Patriot vs. Razor Ramon

Patriot starts the match with a few right hands to Razor as The Bad Guy enters. Patriot runs to the ropes and gets a shoulder block. Patriot continues to control the match and a running knee lift gets him a close 2 count. Patriot tried to go for the Figure Four Leglock, but Razor kicked him away and Patriot met the turnbuckle chest first. The momentum then shifted to Razor's side, who got a very close 2 count after a fallaway slam. Razor tried to go for the Razor's Edge, but Patriot countered it into a backslide for 2. Razor took him down with an open right hand and went to the top rope. Patriot got up immediately and hit Razor with a right hand to the gut. He tried to go for the Superplex, but Razor pushed him off. Razor went for an elbow drop, but Patriot moved out of the way. The momentum kept shifting until the end of the match, when Razor was in control. He signaled for the end and put Patriot in the Razor's Edge position. Patriot once again tried to counter into the backslide, but Razor saw it coming and countered Patriot's counter into a backslide of his own. 1...2...3! Razor pins Jeff Patriot at 10:48! After the match, Razor rolled to the outside and started walking to the back, when Jeff Patriot took a mic and called him back. Razor returned to the ring and Patriot congratulated him. He then said Razor was just as an American as he was and it will be an honor for him to take the American flag to the next round. Razor thought about it for a second and then shook Patriot's hand to a pop. He then waved the flag.

Razor Ramon's turn is completed and he is now a face.

Gorilla: "Razor Ramon advancing to the next round and I'm glad he finally saw the light."

Heenan: "I can't believe it, Monsoon! Razor was such a promising athlete when I brought him in here last year, and he turned into such a wimp! This is a guy who pinned The Undertaker at Wrestlemania for crying out loud! I can't believe it. This is a dark time for the WWF. I need that International Force win to cheer me up."

Gorilla: "You're despicable."

Heenan: "Don't go all Daffy Duck on me. You're supposed to be a gorilla. Don't confuse the fans, Monsoon!"

Gorilla: "Folks, let's go to a very interesting thing our cameras caught earlier today."

Very interesting

Macho Man Randy Savage is standing in the back with Brother Love. They whisper and then the camera gets closer. Savage takes out some money when the two heels notice the cameras. Love yells at them as Savage chases him until the picture disappears and the shot goes back to the announce table.

Gorilla: "I wonder what those two are up to."

Heenan: "Savage must have wanted to donate money to The International Force. He always thinks of other people, who need that money in order to make the world a better place."

Gorilla: "Oh, you are so full of it. (The Dynamite Kid's music starts) Well, it's time for the International Force's night to begin with The Dynamite Kid!

King of the Ring quarter-finals #2: The Dynamite Kid (w/ Brother Love) vs. Bob Backlund

The two locked up and The Dynamite Kid backed Backlund into the corner. He hit about 10 chops in a row and Backlund crashed to the mat. The Kid went to the top rope and went for The Swandive Headbutt, but Backlund moved out of the way. Backlund took control and after a couple of minutes locked The Crossface Chickenwing, but Brother Love distracted the referee on the apron. Backlund went over to him and grabbed him, but The Dynamite Kid got up and hit Backlund with forearms to the back. The Kid controlled the match for a couple of minutes and after a tornado DDT went to the top rope again. The Swandive Headbutt...missed for the second time. Backlund covered and got a close 2 count. He then went for The Chicken Wing, but The Dynamite Kid got out of the hold quickly and rolled to the outside. The momentum kept shifting from side to side until Backlund hit The Kid with a suplex and signaled for the end. Brother Love got on the apron and Backlund grabbed him. He threw him into the ring and locked the Crossface Chicken Wing! Love screamed in pain, but in the meantime The Dynamite Kid climbed to the top rope and hit The Swandive Headbutt! Backlund was out! 1...2...3! Love and Backlund are out, but The Dynamite Kid gets the win at 10:06! He helps his manager to the back and the crowd responds with jeers.

The Dynamite Kid gained overness from this feud ending.

Bob Backlund gained overness from this feud ending.

Gorilla: "The Dynamite Kid steals one! But in any case, he's advanced to the semi-finals."

Heenan: "One down, two to go for The Dynamite Kid, and four to go for The International Force."

Gorilla: "That's what you think (PJ Walker's music starts) and listen to this ovation for the youngster!"

King of the Ring quarter-finals #3: PJ Walker vs. Rick Martel (w/ Jerry Lawler)

Walker started the match excitingly and attacked Martel with rights before The Model could even get his jacket off. Walker then took The Model's jacket off and choked him with it until the referee broke it and called for the bell (beginning of the match). Walker continued to control the match and a series of headbutts almost got him the win, but Martel kicked out. Walker impressed throughout the match and got another near fall after a fallaway slam. Martel took the advantage after blocking a Walker attempted back suplex with a thumb to the eye. A Martel suplex followed by a bulldog got him a near fall. At one point, Martel locked The Boston Crab, but after fighting the move Walker got to the ropes. Martel went for a back suplex, but Walker landed on his feet. The momentum shifted a couple of more times until Martel went for a slow spinning neckbreaker, but Walker blocked it with a kick to the gut and The Implant DDT! Walker covered and as the crowd counted with the referee, he got the 3 count at 8:06. Lawler went in the ring and immediately got DDT'd as well. Walker rolled out of the ring and went to the back, hi-fiving fans on his way out. A poor performance by Martel, but Walker gave it his all and I'm glad he's the one who went on to the semi-finals.

Rick Martel gained overness from this feud ending.

PJ Walker gained overness from this feud ending.

Gorilla: "PJ Walker does it! What an upset! PJ Walker advances and he'll meet The Dynamite Kid later on tonight (The arena goes dark to a huge pop) but I guess it's time for The Dead Man to make his presence felt."

King of the Ring quarter-finals #4: The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) vs. Randy Savage

Surprisingly, Savage was the one with the advantage early on. He manhandled The Undertaker a bit and then slammed him. Savage went to the top rope, but The Undertaker sat up and Savage missed The Savage elbow. The Undertaker then had control and after a flying clothesline, and the rope-walk, went for The Tombstone Piledriver. Savage managed to get out of the Tombstone position and roll to the outside. Taker went after him and hit an uppercut. He rolled Savage back in, where the live one took control. He slammed The Undertaker three times in a row and went to the top rope. The Savage Elbow connected, but The Undertaker kicked out of a cover and sat up. He grabbed Savage by the throat and Choke Slammed him! Savage rolled to the outside where he laid motionless. The Undertaker went after him and Irish whipped him into the steel steps. The Undertaker rolled Savage back in and went after him. He then signaled for the Tombstone Piledriver! UT picked Savage up, but Savage's leg hit the referee. The Undertaker still hit The Tombstone and covered. The crowd counted the three count, but MT Ninja suddenly came to the ring and pulled The Undertaker out of the ring. The Undertaker responded with an uppercut, but Ninja fought back with right hands of his own. They fought all the way to the back and the referee woke up. He had no choice, but to count The Undertaker out. Your winner, at 7:11 - Macho Man Randy Savage. Savage barely walks to the back.

Gorilla: "I can't believe it! Macho Man Randy Savage beats The Undertaker! What business was that of MT Ninja...wait a minute, that must have been what Love and Savage talked about earlier on!"

Heenan: "We got off to a rocky start, Monsoon, but this night just keeps getting better and better!"

Gorilla: "Oh, give me a brake."

Heenan: "Okay, take five."

Gorilla: "You're going to have a black-eye when this night is over. (Mr. Perfect's music starts) Listen to this ovation for who might very well be the next WWF TV champion!"

Darren Malenko (w/ Mr. Perfect) vs. Owen Hart (For The WWF TV Title)

Malenko started the match very aggressively with kicks and right hands. He dropped Owen and went for The Texas Cloverleaf, but Owen kicked him away. Owen got a headlock, which Malenko countered into a head scissors, which Owen kicked out of. They locked up and Malenko got a headlock, which Owen turned into a back suplex. He went for The Sharpshooter, but Malenko kicked him away. The momentum kept shifting and at one point Malenko went for The Perfect Plex, but Owen countered it into a snap suplex. Owen took control and after working on Malenko's leg for a couple of minutes, locked The Sharpshooter! Malenko fought it and eventually managed to grab the bottom rope. Owen went for another try, but Malenko countered it and locked The Texas Cloverleaf! Owen tried to fight it, and eventually managed to grab the bottom rope. Malenko continued to control the match but Owen poked him in the eye to break his momentum. Owen went for the Tiger Driver, but Malenko countered it by grabbing Owen's legs and jumping over for a 2 count. Owen countered it into a sunset flip-like pinning combination, which also got 2. They got up and Owen held Malenko in a Perfect Plex position! He went for the move, but Malenko blocked it. The crowd popped as Owen went for it again. Malenko blocked it again and kicked Owen in the gut. He then grabbed Owen's leg...and hit The Perfect Plex! 1...2...3!!! Darren Malenko wins the TV title at 6:58! Perfect got into the ring and celebrated with Malenko. Owen rolled to the outside and looked very frustrated as he walked to the back.

Gorilla: "Darren Malenko is the new TV champion! And this place is going bananas!"

Heenan: "No! No! How could this happen?! Calm down, Brain, the important matches are still to come."

Gorilla: "You call yourself Brain?"

Heenan: "Yeah. And you should call me Brain too!"

Gorilla: "You're one sick individual."

Damage Inc. vs. The Steiner Brothers © (For The WWF Tag Team Titles)

Rick Steiner and Al Snow started the match. A Brainbuster suplex by Rick got a close 2 count. Rick went to the top rope, but Snow punched him in the stomach and slammed him off. Snow then locked the Beast Choker, but Scott came in and broke the hold. The momentum kept shifting until Rick and Snow collided. Scott got the hot tag and cleaned house. After taking it to Snow and Christopher, he signaled for the Frankensteiner. He sent Snow for the ride, but Snow countered it beautifully into a sit-out powerbomb, which got a close 2 count. Snow then went for the Snow Plow, but Scott countered it into a Snow Plow of his own. Both men got the tag and Rick controlled the match for a bit until he went for a Steinerline from the top rope and Christopher moved out of the way. Christopher then went to the top rope and tried the Alabama Jam, but Rick moved out of the way. Scott got the hot tag and attacked both Christopher and Snow. Snow got into the ring and all 4 men brawled. Snow went to the outside and got one of the tag team belts. He went back in and the referee took it from his hands. The Steiner Brothers used the opening to Steinerline Snow to the outside. Scott then got Christopher on his shoulders and Rick hit The Steiner Bulldog. Scott covered. 1...2...3! The Steiner Brothers retain their titles at 10:06! Rick then got Snow back in and The Steiners asked the fans. The crowd responded with a pop and Scott got Snow on his shoulders. Rick went to the top rope...and hit The Steiner Bulldog on him as well! The Steiner Brothers celebrated in the ring.

Heenan: "No! No! This night is just getting worse! (The Dynamite Kid's music starts) Well, at least I get to see Pee Wee Walker getting his butt kicked all over the place by some quality British talent."

Gorilla: "We'll just see about that!"

King of the Ring semi-finals #1: The Dynamite Kid vs. PJ Walker

The Kid controlled most of this one's beginning, but missed The Swandive Headbutt. Walker signaled for The Implant DDT, but The Dynamite Kid countered it into the northern lights suplex for 2. He went to the top again, but missed The Swandive Headbutt again. Walker controlled the match for a bit, but then went for the Super Kick. The Kid grabbed his leg, grabbed the other one and slignshoted him into the post and to the outside. The Kid rolled him back in and went for the Implant DDT! Walker kicked him in the gut to reverse it and hit a neckbreaker. Walker went to the top and went for the Swandive Headbutt! But The Kid moved out of the way. The Kid warmed his leg up and went for the Super Kick, but Walker grabbed his leg and cradled him! For a 2 count only. Walker got up and ran at The Kid, only to be Super Kicked right in the jaw. The Kid climbed to the top rope...and The Swandive Headbutt connected! 1...2...3! The Dynamite Kid pinned PJ Walker at 9:06! The Kid wasn't in a celebrating mood and seemed a bit knocked up. He rolled to the outside and walked to the back, obviously hurt.

Gorilla: "Well, a hard fought victory for The Dynamite Kid, I have to give him that."

Heenan: "Your next King of the Ring, ladies and gentlemen."

Gorilla: "We'll just see about that (Macho Man Randy Savage's music starts) and here is another man who doesn't but The Dynamite Kid as King of the Ring - Macho Man Randy Savage!"

King of the Ring semi-finals #2: Randy Savage vs. Razor Ramon

Razor, who started getting nice face heat in this match, started the match rather aggressively, but Savage countered a slam attempt into an inside cradle for a 2 count. They got up and locked up. Savage got a hammerlock, which Razor reversed. Razor shoved Savage to the ropes and rolled him up for a 2 count. The momentum kept shifting until Savage went for The Savage Elbow, but Razor moved out of the way. Razor covered and got a close 2 count. Razor then signaled for the end and went for the Razor's Edge, but Savage countered it into a backdrop. Savage went to the top rope, but Razor went right after him. Razor hit him with a couple of forearms to the gut...and hit a back suplex from the second rope! Razor covered! 1...2...3! Razor pinned The Macho Man at 9 minutes exactly! Razor rolled to the outside and hi-fived some fans on his way out.

Gorilla: "What a match we're going to have! The Dynamite Kid and Razor Ramon in the King of the Ring finals!"

Heenan: "It's going to be great! The International Force win King of the Ring AND Razor getting kicked around all in the same match!"

Gorilla: (The Kamikaze Kid's music starts to a huge pop) And listen to this ovation! They're on their feet here in Dayton for The Kamikaze Kid!"

The Kamikaze Kid (w/ Jim Cornette)vs. Shawn Michaels © (For The WWF Intercontinental Title)

Michaels was in control for the first parts of the match. A quick powerbomb of his almost finished the match really early, but The Kid managed to kick out. Michaels continued to control the match until he went for the Back Suplex and The Kid landed on his feet. The Kid hit the Back Suplex! But he couldn't capitalize due to the affects of the powerbomb earlier in the match. He finally got the cover, but Michaels kicked out after a 2 count. The Kamikaze Kid went to the top rope and waited for Michaels to get up. Michaels got up...and got hit with a flying high cross body! But Michaels rolled through! 1...2...no! The Kid kicked out, but Michaels went right into him and inflicted some more punishment for a couple of minutes until Michaels picked him up and decided to taunt the crowd. The Kid responded with right hands to the gut and a dropkick. The Kid got a second wind! He hit Michaels with consecutive right hands and hyped the crowd up. He signaled for The Kamikaze Kick...but Ric Flair suddenly appeared. He went out and The Kid was distracted by him. Cornette tried to get The Kid back in the game...but it was too late. Michaels already poked him in the eye and hooked him up in a Back Suplex position. Back Suplex...doesn't connect! The Kid lands on his feet! The Kid went for a Back Suplex of his own! But Michaels landed on his feet as well! Michaels shoved The Kid into the ropes and rolled him up for a 2 count! The Kid rolled through! 1...2...no! They got up and Michaels poked him in the eye again. Michaels signaled to the crowd the same way The Kid signals when he goes for The Kamikaze Kick! Michaels sent The Kid to the ropes...and The Kid ducked the Kamikaze Kick attempt! The Kid rolled Michaels in a school boy! 1...2...3!!!!!!!!! The Kamikaze Kid pinned Shawn Michaels at 11:21! The camera got a shot of Flair frustrated and then Michaels tried to get revenge, but The Kid hit him with The Kamikaze Kick all the way to the outside. Cornette got into the ring and raised The Kid's hand. The Kid burst into tears as the camera got a close up of him.

Heenan: "What?! I can't hear you!"

The camera got another couple of shots of The Kid, Cornette and the title, and then, when things calm down a bit, went back to the announce tables.

Gorilla: "Certainly one of many unforgettable moments here at King of the Ring. The Kamikaze Kid finally showed the world what he's made of by pinning Shawn Michaels and winning the Intercontinental champion."

Heenan: "We'll see what kind of champion he is tomorrow night, when he'll have to defend that title against the former 3-time WWF champion, Nature Boy, Ric Flair."

Gorilla: "Oh, you will see indeed. But right now, it's time for the most important title in the WWF. It's not about the TV championship, it's not about the Intercontinental championship, it's not even about the WWF championship anymore. It's about a man defending his country's honor. In just a few short moments, the WWF champion, Hulk Hogan, will walk out here and this place will erupt. The WWF championship on the line between Hulk Hogan and an International Force member. (Gorilla stops talking and after about 10 seconds Real American starts to a huge pop) Listen to these people! Here he is! The immortal one! The Hulkster!"

??? vs. Hulk Hogan © (For The WWF World Title)

Hulk Hogan did something he probably last did a long time ago and entered first. The Hart Brothers' music then started and out came...Owen Hart?!?!? Bret walked out?? Owen walks slowly, pointing at Hogan and yelling some stuff. Then, Bret Hart appeared from the crowd and started attacking Hogan. That's more like it. Now the question is whether this is Bret's last match or last match without the belt. Bret had the advantage for the early stages of the match. He got a very close 2 count after an impressing snap suplex, but Hogan kicked out. The Hitman went for the Sharpshooter, but Hogan used his leg strength to prevent the hold being locked. The momentum shifted to Hogan's side. Hogan controlled the match for the next couple of minutes and gets a near fall of his own after a backdrop. Hogan appeared to have the win at one point after hitting the big boot, but the Legdrop missed. Bret took control after this. A Bret backbreaker almost got the win, but Hogan kicked out again. Bret went for a slam, but Hogan countered it with forearms to the back and controlled the match from then on. Hogan went to the top rope, but got slammed. Bret went to the top instead and hit the big elbow. He didn't go for the cover, but started taunting the crowd. Behind him, Hogan got his second wind and Hulked up. He did the "you" routine and then hit Bret with a couple of right hands. He then went for an Irish whip, but it was reversed and Hogan almost collided with the referee. Bret went for a clothesline behind him, but Hogan moved and the referee got it. Hogan and Bret yelled at each other for the ref getting knocked out. Bret turned around and went for the cheap shot, but Hogan blocked it and hit a couple of right hands. He then sent Bret to the ropes and hit the big boot. Hogan ran to the ropes and hit the Legdrop! Hogan went to the cover, but then realized the referee was out. He went to revive him, but suddenly an unknown Japanese figure came running down the aisle. He seems to be about 6' high and weighs about 230-240 lbs.. He kicks Hogan in the gut and hits him with some uppercuts. Hogan tries to respond with right hands of his own but the Japanese guy kicks him in the nuts and DDT's him! Hogan seems to be out! The Japanese guy pulls Bret, who covers Hogan with just his arm. Amazingly, just then the referee starts to come to. The crowd is in shock, Monsoon keeps yelling "no" and Heenan "yes". 1.............2.............3! Here is your winner and the NEW WWF champion, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart! Bret wins a very weak, yet historic match at 13:15. Owen Hart and MT Ninja come out and help Bret to the back. Hogan wakes up and seems to be very upset. He walks to the back very slowly, with his head in the ground.

73

86

54

Bret Hart was sluggish and didn't put much effort in.

Gorilla: "(In a very upset voice) I can't believe it. I just can't believe it. We don't know who that was. Obviously he has some connection to the International Force, but...I just...A lot of folks crying here. And I don't blame them. (Heenan smiles) And you're happy about that."

Heenan: "Don't be ridiculous. I'm not happy about that. I'm absolutely D-E-L-I-G-H-T-E-D! This is the greatest moment in WWF history! Finally, Hulkamania is dead!!! Long live The International Force!"

Gorilla: "(Still upset) Hulkamania is not dead. I promise you, Hulkamania will live forever. (Razor Ramon's music starts) Well, I guess the show must go on and it's time to determine who the 1993 King of the Ring will be."

King of the Ring finals: Razor Ramon vs. The Dynamite Kid

A very short match, and you will know why shortly. Razor controlled the match early on and a neckbreaker by him almost got him the three count and the win, but The Kid kicked out. Razor got an abdominal stretch, but The Kid quickly countered it with a hip toss. The Kid controlled the match until the end. Then, a couple of right hands by him were blocked. Razor hit him with a couple of open right hands. The two were near the ropes, which is very important later on. Not much later on as Razor signaled for the Razor's Edge. The Kid countered it with a backdrop and Razor didn't land very well. In fact, he seemed in quite a lot of pain. The Kid went after him and hit him with a couple of right hands, but you could tell he asked him if he was okay. Razor answered whatever he answered and The Kid barely got him up and rolled him back into the ring. He hit Razor with a couple of right hands and kept talking to him. The Kid climbed to the top rope and taunted the crowd, probably in order to give Razor some time. Swandive Headbutt missed as Razor barely moved out of the way, but The Kid "misdirected his landing". Razor then got one arm on The Kid's chest. 1...2...3. Your winner and the 1993 King of the Ring - Razor Ramon. Razor pinned The Kid at 9:24. Obviously, this wasn't the planned finish as The Kid quickly rolls to the outside and walks frustrated to the back. EMT's come down to the ring and help Razor to the back. No coronation or ceremony here. A very sad final match.

Razor Ramon gained overness from this match.

They had about 10 minutes Pay-Per-View time left so we got replays of all matches. Then Monsoon apologized for no coronation ceremony and said goodbye.

Monday Night Anguish Report 6/14/93!

By Newsflash reporter, Tony Atkin.

Vince McMahon: "24 hours later and the WWF is still shaking after the King of the Ring extravaganza! Hi everyone, welcome to Monday Night Anguish. I'm Vince McMahon, alongside Bobby Heenan. Bobby, (Looks at him wearing a cap with a maple leaf on it) is that really necessary?"

Bobby Heenan: "Yes, it is, McMahon! It's time to replace the Hulk Hogan bandanas with maple leaf caps! It's time to move to Canada! Hulkamania is dead, McMahon!"

McMahon: "Fans, if you joined us last night we want to thank you and if not, you missed a hell of a show. (With discomfort) We have a new WWF champion in Bret 'The Hitman' Hart, who won the championship with the help of an unknown Japanese man, we'll try to get an update about that later on. We also know that the 1993 King of the Ring, Razor Ramon, was injured during his match with The Dynamite Kid. Razor showed great courage and determination by still managing to win the match, but he was injured and will not be able to face the WWF champion at Summerslam. More on that later on as well. Anyway, we've got a brand new WWF Intercontinental champion, the youngest ever in face, The Kamikaze Kid, who upset Shawn Michaels last night for the title. Tonight he will face Ric Flair for that title. Also tonight PJ Walker and Beau Beverly in action! (Bret Hart's music starts) What do they want?"

Winning Speech

The International Force members, minus The Mountie and plus the Japanese guy from last night, come out to the ring. Brother Love is leading the stable, Bret after him with the WWF title on his shoulder, then Owen with an angry face, then MT Ninja, then the Japanese guy and then The Dynamite Kid. They enter the ring one by one and Love smiles. He takes a mic: "Ladies and gentlemen, in a short time I will give you the honors of hearing pearls of wisdom from your WWF champion (Jeers), but first let me introduce to you the newest member of this elite force. He is from Mitaka city, Tokyo. He is a lean 240 and his DDT is the most lethal move you'll ever see in a WWF ring. Ladies and gentlemen, Masahiro Chono!!! (Jeers) Ya see, we already had The Hart Brothers with the most lethal submission move, The Dynamite Kid and MT Ninja mastering the top rope and now we also have the lethal DDT man - Masahiro Chono. And now, your brand new WWF champion - Bret 'The Hitman' Hart!!! (Jeers)

Bret Hart: "Well, I guess I showed you. (Jeers) I didn't need to show you, but I did. Just for this poor federation to have a good foundation. And now, once again, the WWF is built over the Hart foundation. Ever since we targeted Hulk Hogan as a target we heard only one word: Hulkamania. (Pop) Well, Hulkamania is dead! (Jeers) There is no Hulkamania without the WWF championship around that aging grandpa's big fat waist! Last night a new era has begun for the World Wrestling Federation - The International Force era. You're welcome. (His music starts again to jeers as all of them exit.)

74

Vince: "I still can't believe that this is the WWF champion, the man who represents the WWF and all its workers."

Heenan: "Well, you better get used to it, McMahon. No more will we hear that stupid Real American music in Pay-per-View main events. Long live Bret Hart's theme music!"

Vince: "Yes, Bobby Heenan, ever the music-expert. Anyway, here is a message from Captain Lou Albano!"

Weekly Announcement

Captain Lou Albano is sitting in a steel chair in the middle of the ring in the empty arena. He is talking to camera, giving the formal announcement that Razor Ramon was injured and will not compete at Summerslam. He says a new number one contender will be determined tonight, in a 20-man over the top rope battle royal.

81

Vince: "Wow! A battle royal to determine the new number one contender! What a match it should be."

Heenan: "That's not fair, McMahon! In any sport, or in life generally, every time a number one contender is unable to do his job, the former number one contender takes his place!"

Vince: "But the former number one contender was Bret Hart!"

Heenan: "You're point being..."

Vince: "My point being (The Kamikaze Kid's music starts to a huge pop) Well, my point being that here comes the new Intercontinental champion!"

Ric Flair vs. The Kamikaze Kid (w/ Jim Cornette) © (For the WWF Intercontinental championship)

This was a better match than their previous one. Flair had control early on and used a couple of knee drops to ware the champion out. He then used the ropes and choked The Kid with his knees to a 4 count a couple of times. Flair covered and got a 2 count. He then started working on The Kid's leg. He tried to go for the Figure Four, but The Kid kicked him into the turnbuckle. The Kid then took control and started stomping at Flair. The Kid picked Flair up and sent him into the turnbuckle. He drove a shoulder into Flair's gut and flipped back. He then drove another shoulder and sent Flair into the opposite turnbuckle. Flair flipped over the turnbuckle and The Kid dropkicked Flair to the outside. Flair confronted some fans and rolled back in. The Kid started kicking Flair and Flair did his walk-collapse routine. Flair got up and begged The Kid for mercy. He then gave him a thumb to the eye. Flair hit a few knife-edged chops and sent The Kid to the turnbuckle. He hit some chops in the corner and put The Kid on the top rope. Flair went to the second rope, but The Kid pounded him with forearms and got a sunset flip from the top rope! 1...2...no! Flair kicked out. The Kid told the ref that it was three, but Flair attacked him from behind with clubbing blows to the back. Flair went for a back suplex, but The Kid landed on his feet and hit an enzuguiri to the back of Flair's head. The Kid covered and got only a 2 count. The Kid signaled for the end and climbed to the second rope. Knee drop...doesn't connect! Flair moved out of the way and locked the Figure Four! The Kid tried to fight it and eventually managed to reverse it into a modified Indian death lock. Flair got to the ropes, but the damage to The Kid's knees was done. Even Vince said so! Flair looked confident and went over to The Kid, who rolled him up in an inside cradle! 1...2...no! Flair kicked out. Flair went for a clothesline, but The Kid reversed it into a backslide for another 2 count. They got up and started exchanging right hands. The Kid got the advantage and sent Flair to the turnbuckle. The Kid went for a bulldog, but Flair reversed it and sent The Kid crotch first into the opposite turnbuckle. The Kid's head was up and Flair quickly got a neckbreaker in. He untangled The Kid and covered, but The Kid got his leg on the bottom rope. Flair grabbed that leg and went for the Figure Four, but The Kid kicked Flair's behind and Flair collided with the referee. Flair turned around...into The Kamikaze Kick! The Kid covered, but there was no one to count. Another referee entered the ring and counted...only 2. The Kid signaled for one more and sent Flair to the ropes. Flair ducked and the second referee got The Kamikaze Kick! The Kid checked how the referee was doing as Flair put his hand in his tights...and took out a foreign object! Flair clocked The Kid with it right in the knee! The first referee started waking up and Jim Cornette started yelling and pointing at Flair's hand. Flair through the object to the outside and the ref saw nothing in his hand. The ref told Cornette to go to the back as Flair locked the Figure Four Leglock! The Kid screamed in pain and agony, but didn't give up. He tried to reverse it, but couldn't. Flair continued to put pressure and The Kid showed signs of passing out. The bell was rung and no one knew for sure what happened, but a lot of jeers were heard. Finkel finally announced: Ladies and gentlemen, the referee has decided to stop this match as The Kamikaze Kick was no longer able to defend himself. Therefore, your winner...and the NEW WWF Intercontinental champion - 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair! Flair celebrated with the belts and Anguish wasted a lot of air time on this. But hell, it was worth it.

[Commercial brake]

Vince: "Welcome back to Monday Night Anguish, everybody. Um...before the brake the Ric Flair - Kamikaze Kid match came to a conclusion and I guess...I guess we have a new Intercontinental champion. Let's see the footage (Footage of the last moments of the match are shown). Here you can see Ric Flair obviously using a foreign object to injure The Kid's knee. The referee can't see that and the pain is too much for The Kid, who did not give up, but it was decided that he...that he could not defend himself and so the match was awarded to Ric Flair and it is official - he is the new WWF Intercontinental champion."

Heenan: "McMahon, I have one word to say: woo! The Nature Boy has done it again! Back in March, when he lost the WWF championship to Hulk Hogan, I said he will win more gold and he did. And you were right too, McMahon. Last week you said that at that time the following week there will be a different Intercontinental champion and there is and his name is Ric Flair. Woo!"

Vince: "Right now let's go to Tony Chimel backstage with the Repo Man."

Chimel Time

Tony Chimel is standing backstage with Repo Man: "Repo Man, we haven't heard from you in a long time, but obviously you have something to say."

Repo Man: "You're damn right, I've got something to say. I sat at home in a repossessed couch, watching King of the Ring in my repossessed TV. And you know what I saw, Chimel?"

Chimel: "A repossessed crown?"

Repo Man: "Don't get smart with me, Chimel or I'll knock the lights out of ya. I saw Darren Malenko winning the WWF Television championship. And I remembered that Malenko cheated to beat me in the semi-finals. He cheated! He stole the TV championship! A title that belongs to me, The Repo Man! Darren Malenko is a thief! And I WILL get back what's mine. Because Darren Malenko, what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine too!" (He starts walking out of the frame)

Chimel: "Wait, Repo, I'm just being informed that next week you're booked for a match against PJ Walker with the winner getting a TV championship shot at Summerslam. Darren Malenko might be the champion by then. I'm sure you're happy about that."

Repo Man: "Yeah, I'm happy about that. Finally, some justice will be served in the WWF, at Summerslam. But next week...you're going to witness...a crime!" (Laughs his squeaky voice and Repo-runs out of the frame.)

Chimel: "Back to you, Vince."

47

Vince: "Thank you, Tony. I wonder what Repo means when he says we're going to witness a crime."

Heenan: "What do you think it means? We're going to witness a crime! Gees, you're slow, McMahon."

Chris Chetti vs. PJ Walker

McMahon and Heenan spent most of the match, which was about two minutes, hyping the Repo Man-Walker match next week. Walker controlled the entire match, not going for the cover until the end. Walker dropped Chetti with a Death Valley Driver and set up in the corner. Chetti got up...and Walker hit the Super Kick. Cover. 1...2...3! Walker got the win.

63

43

83

Vince: "PJ Walker - victorious!"

Heenan: "Sure, Pee Wee looks good compared to a guy like Chris Chetti, but The Repo Man is a different story."

Vince: "Folks, we're going to take a quick commercial brake but still to come is the 20-man over the top rope battle royal for the chance to meet the WWF champion for the title at Summerslam! And up next we've got IRS in action! Stay tuned!

[Commercial brake]

SummerSlam Is Coming

Bret Hart is shown sitting with his shirt off next to a swimming pool. There is calm summer samba music in the background. A man comes holding a try with some sort of tropical drink on it. Bret takes it and drinks. He spits it out and the music turns into Bret Hart's theme music. The Summerslam logo appears. "The premier event of the summer is coming." We then see the man screaming in pain while being held in the Sharpshooter. "Summerslam, coming to you live on Pay-per-View August 15th. Check local listings."

83

Vince: "Summerslam will indeed come to you August 15th LIVE from Auburn Hills, Michigan. Right now, let's go to the ring.

IRS (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. Scott Taylor

IRS came out to a big heat, holding a mic: "It is very fitting that I am getting this kind of reaction in Dayton, Ohio, the heartland of America. Everybody knows that this entire country is filled with no-good tax-cheats who just wait for a chance to complain about the IRS. Well, you don't have the right to complain because just like your fellow Americans, you are also liars and cheats. This is..." He was interrupted by Jeff Patriot's music. Scott Taylor gets out of the ring, so we know we won't have a match tonight.

Patriot: "IRS, I'd be very careful if I were you. You're talking about my country here and I suggest you choose your words carefully."

IRS: "How typical (IRS turned around) of a man called Jeff Patriot, who claims to be a representative of America, to talk about the IRS like that. Just like you, he is a no good tax-cheat who thinks he deserves everything. Well.."

Patriot has had enough and he attacked IRS from behind with right hands. He sent IRS to the ropes and clotheslined him. He then picked IRS up and dropkicked him. IRS fell to the outside, onto Jimmy Hart. Patriot's music started again as he stood in the ring, finger-threatening IRS.

84

Vince: "Jeff Patriot, defending his country's honor!"

Heenan: "IRS finally made these people face the truth and yes, the truth hurts, but is that a reason to be attacked from behind by a guy who couldn't even afford a Spiderman mask?"

Vince: "Stop it, Bobby Heenan. I am being informed that Tony Chimel is backstage with one of the participants in tonight's battle royal. Tony?"

Chimel Time

There is a close-up on Tony Chimel. Yikes. "Yes, Vince, I'm here with the All-American Bob Backlund." A pop is heard as the camera zooms out and we get to see Backlund. "First of all, Bob, how are you doing after your match last night with The Dynamite Kid?"

Bob Backlund: "Well, Tony, I'm a little banged up but it's nothing that can keep me away from the battle royal tonight."

Chimel: "Indeed, Bob, tonight you go into that battle royal with 19 other WWF superstars for the chance to meet the WWF champion at Summerslam."

Backlund: "First of all, I'd like to say how much I respect the King of the Ring Razor Ramon. Razor, if you're watching this, get well soon, buddy. Last week on Monday Night Anguish when he pinned me I had a feeling he's going to win this. I think it's only fair he gets a WWF title shot when he returns. He saw the light last night and I am proud to say that he's joined folks like myself, Jeff Patriot and Hulk Hogan who have decided to defend this country's honor against The International Force. Second of all, I hope I win tonight and I hope Bret Hart is the champion come Summerslam because if there's something sweeter than winning the WWF championship is winning it while making a no-good anti-American scream he gives up. Now I'm sorry, Tony, but I have to go prepare."

Backlund walks out.

Chimel: "Back to you, Vince."

74

Vince: "Thanks, Tony. Bob Backlund could be a great number one contender and I think he's got a hell of a shot."

Heenan: "You're confusing a hell of shot with no chance in hell."

Vince: "We'll just see about that. Right now let's go to the ring."

Devon Storm vs. Beau Beverly

No Genius tonight. They kept this one short as well. So instead of on-going squashes we got two short squashes, a quality match and an everything on the line battle royal. Nothing to complain here. Beau used a lot of slams and right hands. Beau got a chinlock in and Storm started fighting back. He hit a couple of elbows and sent Beau to the ropes. Storm went for a clothesline, but Beau ducked and got The Flying Clothesline on the rebound. Beau covered. 1...2...3. Beau won the match.

55

42

68

Vince: "Beau Beverly victorious tonight and there is just one match left tonight - the battle royal."

Heenan: "Who decided Bob Backlund is in the battle royal and Beau Beverly isn't?"

Vince: "Captain Lou Albano!"

Heenan: "Oh, that explains it..."

Vince: "Stop it, Bobby Heenan. I understand Tony Chimel is with another participant of tonight's battle royal. Tony?"

Chimel Time

Tony Chimel is backstage with a rare interview with The Undertaker which isn't in that dark basement: "Paul Bearer and The Undertaker, we are just moments away from the 20-man battle royal, in which The Undertaker is a major favorite. Your comments?"

Paul Bearer: "Ohh, Tony Chimel...tonight my Undertaker gets his chance to get revenge for last night. Tonight my Undertaker gets the chance to win that title shot at Summerslam. And most importantly, tonight my Undertaker gets the chance to avenge his loss last night. Not only will my Undertaker bury Macho Man Randy Savage and prevent him from going to Summerslam, but the same fate awaits MT Ninja."

Chimel: "Are you saying The Undertaker seeks personal revenge? Don't you think that will throw him off his game tonight?"

Bearer: "Oh, it doesn't matter, Tony Chimel. First it will be Randy Savage and MT Ninja. Then two more. Then two more. One by one they will go flying over the top rope until my Undertaker stand alone in the ring - victorious! Ohhhh yes!!!"

The Undertaker: "Tonight...it will not only be MT Ninja and Randy Savage...17 other WWF superstars will stand in the way...of the Undertaker. And they will be eliminated...tonight, 19 WWF superstars will rest...in...peace."

Chimel: "Back to you, Vince."

78

Vince: "Thanks, Tony. The Undertaker - certainly another favorite in the battle royal, which is now."

20 Man Battle Royal (Winner gets a WWF title shot at Summerslam)

Howard Finkel went over the rules and then introduces the participants. First entered some jobbers and then Blake Beverly's music started. Still no Genius as we go to commercials. When we return from commercials, Owen Hart's music was near the end and Hulk Hogan's music hit to a monster pop. Let's go over the participants:

Al Snow

Blake Beverly

Booker T

Bob Backlund

Brian Christopher

Christian Cage

CW Anderson

Damien Stone

The Dynamite Kid

Hulk Hogan

Jeff Patriot

Macho Man Randy Savage

MT Ninja

Owen Hart

Repo Man

Rick The Model Martel

Scott Taylor

Tatanka

The Undertaker

I don't know about you, but I counted 19.

The bell was rung and the brawl starts. Hulk Hogan, who still had his shirt on, started his elimination streak, eliminating Scott Taylor, Booker T, Damien Stone, CW Anderson and Christian Cage (Eliminations #1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) within the first minute. Hogan tore off his shirt, but Masahiro Chono suddenly appeared. Vince said he apparently came from the crowd. Chono entered and DDT'd Hogan. He then threw him over the top rope and ran to the back (#6). Hogan was out cold. Damage Inc. hit Bob Backlund with a couple of double clotheslines, eventually eliminating him (#7). The Proud Americans then eliminated them both simultaneously with clotheslines (#8 and #9). The Undertaker hit Blake Beverly with a couple of uppercuts and eliminated him (#10). MT Ninja and Macho Man Randy Savage came from behind and eliminated him with a double clothesline (#11). The Undertaker landed on his feet and re-entered the ring. He hit Ninja with a Tombstone Piledriver and eliminated him to a huge pop (#12). The referees managed to restrain him before he got to Savage. The Dynamite Kid and Owen Hart brawled with The Proud Americans. Tatanka used some tomahawk chops to eliminate The Dynamite Kid (#13). Owen spinning heel kicked Tatanka to the outside (#14) and Patriot eliminated Owen with a hard right hand (#15). IRS then came out and yelled some trash at Patriot. That allowed Rick The Model Martel to eliminate him (#16). We're down to Macho Man Randy Savage, Rick The Model Martel and Repo Man. Something isn't right here - they're all heels! Anyway, Macho Man and Repo Man attacked The Model with right hands. Repo took Martel down by his feet and locked The Half Crab. Macho Man went to the top...and hit Martel with the Savage Elbow to the back of the head! Savage eliminated Martel (#17). Repo then quickly tried to eliminate Savage, but got hit with right hands and Savage eliminated him with a clothesline (#18). Finkel was about to announce Savage as the winner of the battle royal, but then The Kamikaze Kid's music started and Finkel announced him as the 20th man. The Kid came limping down the aisle while Cornette tried to talk him out of it. The Kid entered the ring and Savage attacked him with right hands to the knee. Savage worked on The Kid's knee for about 5 minutes. He then went to the top rope and taunted the fans. He then talked some trash to Cornette. The Kid got up, climbed to the second high-kicked Savage! Savage was dazed and The Kid kicked him a couple of more times. The Kid got down from the turnbuckle, limping. He was obviously still injured. Savage got it together and went for the double axe handle, but The Kid moved out of the way and Kamikaze Kicked Savage! Savage was eliminated! (#19) Your winner and the number one contender for the WWF championship at Summerslam: The Kamikaze Kid! Vince barely got to say goodbye as Anguish went off the air.

74

67

81

Good show. The Kid losing the title so early in his reign seemed a bit weird, and they were probably more deserving candidates for the title shot, but it was a hell of a surprise. Some new feuds are obviously starting, including Patriot-IRS, Chono-Hogan and Ninja-Taker. Some new ones will probably build up during the next few weeks and if they are built right - we're going to have a great Summerslam.

  • 4 weeks later...

Monday Night Anguish 6/21/93

Vince: "A new Intercontinental champion and a new number one contender were crowned last week! What awaits us tonight on Monday Night Anguish? Hi everybody, welcome to the first ever 2-hour edition of non-stop World Wrestling Federation right here on Monday Night Anguish. I'm Vince McMahon, alongside Bobby Heenan and tonight we have a great tag team main event."

Heenan : "Former 2-time WWF Tag Team champions, Money Inc. face a team that didn't do anything in the WWF but lose. You call that great, I call it a massacre."

Vince: "We'll just see about that. What led to this match between Money Inc. and The Proud Americans was a confrontation, well, in face two confrontations between IRS and Jeff Patriot last week, but we'll show you that a little bit later on. Also tonight, the new Intercontinental champion, Ric Flair..."

Heenan: "Woo!"

Vince: "Um, yeah, woo. Anyway, the new Intercontinental champion, Ric Flair..."

Heenan: "Woo!"

Vince: "Stop it, Bobby Heenan. Anyway (thinks for a second) Bob Backlund will face the Intercontinental champion in a non-title match. A win for Backlund may very well give him a big boost in the singles ranks."

Heenan: "And a cure for cancer may very well end all of the world's problems. So what? Bob Backlund will not beat Ric Flair."

Vince: "We'll just see about that. Tonight we're going to see who will face Darren Malenko for the WWF TV championship at Summerslam as Repo Man takes on PJ Walker in a match to determine the number on contender."

Heenan: "Last week Repo Man promised us we're going to witness a crime. Now, I don't know what he's talking about but I have a feeling Walker is going to get manhandled and I like it!"

Vince: "Also tonight, a huge 6-man tag team match between WWF Tag Team Champions The Steiner Brothers and The Undertaker and International Force members Owen Hart, The Dynamite Kid and MT Ninja. (The International Force's music starts to a big heat) And speaking of the devil...or rather, the devils."

A forceful segment.

The International Force comes out, minus The Mountie of course. Owen Hart takes the role of angering the crowd by taunting some fans. Bret is his nonchalant self, with the I'm-so-cool-with-my-cool-sunglasses-and-cool-leather-jacket look on his face. Love is smiling like he's just won the lottery. Chono and The Dynamite Kid's faces are frozen and MT Ninja's face is...well...under a mask. Brother Love takes a mic: "Welcome everyone to Monday Night Anguish! (Pop) And Anguish is indeed the main thing you're going to see over the next couple of months. The number one contender, The Kamikaze Kid (Pop). That's one kid you're going to see anguish on his face. Hulk Hogan (Huge pop). Another guy who's only expression, until he makes the correct decision of retiring that is, will be anguish. And of course tonight, you're going to see the unbearable anguish on the face of the dead man himself, The Undertaker. (Counts with his fingers until only two are left) Which leaves us with The Steiner Brothers (Pop). You see, the WWF championship is already in the safe hands of the International Force (Points at Bret's shoulder to a heat) and although the Intercontinental championship is not in our hands, but it's in the hands of Ric Flair, a man we deeply respect. And of course the TV championship will be ours once The Mountie returns. So what's left? I don't know. What's left? (Turns around and Owen Hart whispers something in his ear) Oh, right, the WWF Tag Team titles. And for that we want to have a little...chat...with The Steiner Brothers. So Rick, Scott, come out here! (10 seconds pass and The Steiner Brothers' music starts to a big pop. The Tag Team champions come out and hi-five some fans. They get into the ring and stand in front of Love.) Rick and Scott Steiner, the WWF Tag Team champions. Ya see, earlier on Owen and I did a little math and came to the conclusion that the most important two things the International Force need right now are this (Points at Rick's belt) and that (Points at Scott's belt). Of course you are just Americans so you can't join the International Force but I am willing..(Owen makes a motion of trying to stop him) No, Owen, it has to be done. I am willing (Looks to have a hard time) to let you hand your titles to the best combination of human wrestling abilities, the International Force."

The Steiner Brothers seem a bit confused. They look around and the fans are screaming their lungs out. Suddenly, Scott starts hammering Owen Hart. Rick goes after The Dynamite Kid. Soon, the International Force takes the advantage and manhandles the champions. Suddenly, the arena goes dark and The Undertaker's gongs are heard. The lights go back on and the ring is empty.

84

Vince: "The Undertaker, making his presence felt!"

Heenan: "By what? not appearing?"

Vince: "I'm sure you won't be saying that after The Undertaker manhandles The International Force later tonight. (Repo Man's music starts) Right now let's go to the ring!"

Repo Man vs. PJ Walker

They gave this match a lot of airtime, thus proving the 2-hour show is a good concept. Repo came out with a tow cable and put it on the turnbuckle. Walker came out running to a pop and started beating the crap out of Repo. Repo took the advantage and almost got the clean win early on with a nice-looking backbreaker, but Walker kicked out. Repo went to the top rope and tried to go for an elbow drop, but Walker moved out of the way. Walker controlled the match from then on and got the piledriver, but he couldn't capitalize. The referee reached a 9 count and Walker was up first. The momentum kept shifting until finally Walker went for the Implant DDT, but Repo pushed him away into the referee. The referee was a bit dazed, but the flying clothesline by Repo Man took him out. Repo turned around and Walker kicked him in the gut. Implant DDT...doesn't connect! Repo hit Walker with a low blow and set him up for the Brainbuster. He put him in the position, but Walker slid out the back door...and hit the Implant DDT! Walker covered, but there was no referee. Walker got up and tried to revive the official. Suddenly, a familiar figure appeared from the crowd and took the tow cable from the turnbuckle! Walker turned around...and got clobbered right in the head! The can't-put-my-finger-on-it character rolled out of the ring and disappeared in the crowd. Repo regained consciousness and covered Walker. The ref woke up. 1...2...3! Your winner and the challenger for the TV championship at Summerslam - Repo Man.

66

59

73

Repo Man gained overness from this match.

Vince: "What was that? Who was that?"

Heenan: "McMahon, we just witnessed a crime!"

Vince: "Not just any crime - a robbery! Repo Man has robbed PJ Walker of a TV championship shot at Summerslam."

Summer Clash

Hulk Hogan's music starts to a huge pop. He comes out with an angered look on his face, not posing for the fans or even giving hi-fives. He goes into the ring, takes a mic and starts the talking, with a very intense tone to his voice: "Last week the Hulkster was on his way to Summerslam. He was on his way to the main event. He was on his way to once again, win the WWF championship in front of all his Hulkamaniacs and getting revenge against Bret Hart (Pop). But that didn't happen, Brother. Ya see, what happened was The Hulkster started eliminating them, one by one and a Hulkster-Hitman rematch was closer than ever. But then came...(with a look of disgust) Masahiro Chono (Heat). Masahiro Chono and his DDT put the Hulkster out. Out of consciousness, out of the match, out of the Summerslam main event. And you know the Hulkster likes nothing more but to congratulate up and coming superstars, but with all due respect to The Kamikaze Kid, The Hulkster should have been the one raising his arms in victory last week. But that didn't happen. So The Hulkster is willing to settle for a consolation prize. The Hulkster is challenging Masahiro Chono to a match at Summerslam! (Pop) So Masahiro Chono, get your Japanese behind out here before The Hulkster will go to the back and bring it!"

Masahiro Chono and Brother Love appear on the TitanTron and Love has a big smile on his face: "Oh, Hogan, there's nothing sadder than an aging has-been not willing to admit he's not what he used to be (Heat), but if one final DDT is what you need, if that DDT will be your final clue, if that DDT will make you retire, you're on. Hogan, you've got your match. And not, it's not going to be a career vs. career match, because we don't need one. You'll see that once Masahiro hits you with that DDT, it will be the last time you ever feel that mat. Hogan, your days are numbered."

Hogan: "Well, you know something, Brother Love, Dude? You can say that my days are numbered but you don't get to the Hulkster. Andre The Giant, King Kong Bundy, Macho Man Randy Savage, Ric Flair, that's just a partial list of people who promised to end The Hulkster's career, but as you can see Hulkamania is still alive and well, and it's going to be the same after Summerslam. So, Masahiro Chono, whatcha gonna do when Hulk Hogan runs wild on you?"

Hogan's music starts again and he poses as Love is still on the TitanTron with an angry expression.

[Commercial brake]

The Brother Love Show

Brother Love is standing in the set of his show with a mic: "Yes, it's me again. After beating the hell out of The Steiner Brothers and booking the match that will end Hulk Hogan's career, it's now time for the icing on the cake - The Brother Love Show! (Heat) Tonight I have two guests. First, I would like to invite the greatest wrestler of all time! He is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Bret 'The Hitman' Hart! (Bret comes out to a mild heat and gets into the ring. He has his leather jacket and heel sunglasses on him.) And now, I would like to bring out the man who was humiliated by The Dynamite Kid in Wrestlemania and last week cheated his way to Summerslam. Ladies and gentlemen, if you must - The Kamikaze Kid. (The Kid and Jim Cornette come out to a pop and get in the ring. All 4 participants take their seats.) Bret, let's start with you. This is your second WWF title reign, and without a doubt the better one, after you saw the light. Many people, including me, believe you will never lose this belt and will stay the face of the World Wrestling Federation for years to come. How do you feel about that?"

Bret 'The Hitman' Hart: "I feel it's a dream come true. Finally, a good wrestler is the WWF champion. Not American trash like Hulk Hogan. Before King of the Ring I said it was time for a change for the better. And thanks to me, that change has come. At King of the Ring the WWF got out of the tunnel and into the light, and yes, it will stay this way until I decide it's time to pass the torch to a skillful superstar. Of course this superstar won't be American because American and skillful don't go together. And it sure as heck won't be a child like The Kamikaze Kid. I mean, look at you. You're what? 6 years old? And you've done nothing but lose match after match here in the WWF. You come out after a match has already ended and attack a wounded winner to cheat your way to Summerslam and you think you have what it takes to be WWF champion? Well, it doesn't work that way, kid. You have to earn it through blood, sweat and tears. Not milk, cookies and baby crying. This is the big league and come Summerslam your stupid name will fit perfectly, because going into that match against the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be will indeed be suicide."

Jim Cornette: "Well, you know somethi..."

The Kamikaze Kid: "No, Jim, I'll take this one. You know, Bret, that's what I've been hearing ever since I've come here. 'You're not good enough', 'You don't belong here', 'You're just a kid'. Well, I've proved them all wrong. I ended Shawn Michaels' Intercontinental title run, an 8-month run with the title. You couldn't even get 5 months last time you were WWF champion. Yes, this is the big league, Bret, but at Summerslam I'm going to show you just what I'm made of. You're talking about blood, sweat and tears. Well, I may bleed and I may sweat but at Summerslam, when it's all said and done - you'll be the one crying."

With that, Bret Hart stands up and so does The Kid. They stand face to face and The Kid signals with his fists that he wants a fight. Bret gives him a disrespecting look and turns around. He gets out of the ring and has a cocky smile on his face all the way to the back.

74

Vince: "Wow, I've never seen The Kamikaze Kid this tensed."

Heenan: "I did, when he heard there was a Chuck E. Cheese's opening near his house."

Vince: "Oh, stop it, Bobby Heenan. Right now let's go to Tony Chimel with our Intercontinental champion. Tony?"

Chimel Time

Tony Chimel: "Thanks, Vince. I'm here with Nature Boy Ric Flair, who tonight will face Bob Backlund in a non-title match. Nature Boy, both of you and Backlund are considered great technical wrestlers, are you pleased with this booking?"

Ric Flair: "Pleased? Pleased, Tony Chimel? The Nature Boy is pleased every time he gets out to that ring and gives these people what they want - see the master himself in action. It doesn't matter if it's Bob Backlund, The Kamikaze Kid or some chick named Judy. They're all the same for me. I go out there, I lock in that Figure Four Leglock and just wait a couple of seconds until they can't take it anymore."

Chimel: "But you must have some respect for Backlund."

Flair: "Respect? Respect?! I respect no one. What has Bob Backlund done to earn my respect? Has he dated 12 women at the same time? Has he worn top-designer robes worth millions of dollars? Is he a leer-jet-flying, caviar-eating, limousine-riding son-of-a-gun? I don't think so! You know who answers that description? Me! The Intercontinental champion! The Nature Boy Ric Flair! Woo!"

Chimel: "Let's go to the ring!"

MT Ninja, Owen Hart and The Dynamite Kid(w/ Brother Love) vs. Rick Steiner, Scott Steiner, and The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer)

They're really enjoying that 2-hour thing. The Steiners showed up a bit banged up. MT Ninja seemingly had control over The Undertaker in the beginning in the match and tagged in Owen Hart. Hart abused Taker and then tagged in The Dynamite Kid. McMahon and Heenan kept talking about whether this could be the end of The Undertaker. Then of course The Dynamite Kid made the mistake of going for the cover following a flying clothesline and The Undertaker sat up. He was sent to the ropes and Rick Steiner tagged himself in. Rick and The Kid worked well together and Rick almost got the win following a vertical suplex, but Owen broke the count. The International Force had the advantage from then on until The Dynamite Kid missed a Swandive Headbutt and Scott got the hot tag. He controlled the match against all three men until Love tripped him behind the referee's back. Steiner turned around and threatened love. The Kid used this to clothesline him to the outside. The Undertaker finally got the hot tag after Scott countered a DDT attempt by MT Ninja into a northern lights suplex. The Undertaker hit uppercuts all over the place until Ninja rolled him up from behind and held the tights for the 3 count. Just then The Steiners entered the ring and the heels ran away.

Vince: "The International Force steal a victory!"

Heenan: "The International Force earn another well-fought victory. I see great things in the future of all three men."

Vince: "Those six are like a virus spreading within the WWF. But the big question is: Who is the cure for that virus? Perhaps it's The Dynamite Kid. I guess we'll have to wait until Summerslam to find out. Anyway, we're going to take a quick commercial brake but still to come is the big tag match between Money Inc. and the Proud Americans."

Heenan: "And what about Damage Inc. in action?"

Vince: "That and much more is up next! Stay tuned!"

[Commercial brake]

CW Anderson and Damien Stone vs. Damage Inc.

God, this two-hour show thing is even turning squashes into long matches. Not that we have anything to complain about with Anderson and Stone's great bumps to Snow and Christopher's great moves. Anderson almost got the win and the upset after a fluke powerslam on Snow, but the should-have-been-half-of-the-tag-team-champions kicked out. Damage Inc. controlled the match from then on and Snow finally got the win after a Beast Choker on Stone. After the match, Snow hit Anderson with a Snow Plow and Christopher hit Anderson with the Alabama Jam.

Vince: "Damage Inc. - impressive as always."

Heenan: "You see, that's how a real tag team wins."

Vince: "Let me remind you that The Steiner Brothers defeated Damage Inc. for the titles at King of the Ring."

Heenan: "That's only because The Steiners wouldn't job"

Okay, so he didn't really say that. Sue me.

Vince: "Right now let's go to Tony Chimel in the back with The Television champion and Mr. Perfect."

Chimel Time

Tony Chimel: "I'm here with the current WWF Television champion, Darren Malenko, and his manager Mr. Perfect. Earlier today we saw Repo Man steal a victory from PJ Walker, thus becoming the number one contender for the TV champion. He used the assistance of an unknown figure. Do you fear that this figure will also help Repo Man in the TV title match at Summerslam?"

Mr. Perfect: "Let me tell you something about the Repo Man, Tony Chimel. As far as I'm concerned, Repo Man is just another nomad wrestler who is there simply for Malenko to show off his arsenal. You can't put Repo Man and fear in the same sentence, unless you're afraid he's going to end up at the hospital if he tries any of his little games at Summerslam."

Chimel: "Speaking of Summerslam, Summerslam don't associate with good things when it comes to you, Mr. Perfect. We all remember the epic battle you had with Bret Hart back at Summerslam 91, when you lost your Intercontinental title and the previous Summerslam, where another Intercontinental title reign of yours was ended, by Kerry Von Erich."

Perfect : "And what about Summerslam 89, when I won a match after 3 minutes? And don't you talk to me about Kerry Von Erich and Bret Hart, Chimel. Von Erich?! Do you see him here right now? And Bret Hart, well we've all seen what he's become. And besides, this Summerslam won't be about Mr. Perfect, it'll be about Darren Malenko."

Darren Malenko: "If I may, Tony Chimel, I just want to send a little message to the Repo Man: After Summerslam, the only thing you'll be stealing will be the breakfast of the guy laying next to you, because you're going to spend a lot of time eating hospital food. Summerslam is the venue and Repo Man, you'll be the victim."

Perfect: "And that's perfect."

Chimel: "Back to you, Vince."

Vince: "Thank you, Tony. Summerslam is certainly shaping up to be a great event (the crowd pops as Bob Backlund comes running out with his all-American jacket) and here comes Bob Backlund!"

Non-title match: Bob Backlund vs. Ric Flair

A good long match here, which went back and forth. Flair almost got the pin after a snap suplex, but Backlund kicked out. Backlund took the advantage after reversing a headlock into an Irish whip and a shoulder block. Backlund also had a near fall following a stomach breaker. Anguish went to commercial and when it came back Flair was in control and got a near fall. Flair continued to dominate the match and went for the Figure Four Leglock. Backlund kicked him in the rear into the ropes and rolled him up for 2. They got up and Backlund went for the Crossface Chicken Wing. Flair got out of it and went for a back suplex. Backlund landed on his feet and locked the Crossface Chicken Wing on Flair! Flair tried to battle it but Backlund got him to the floor and Flair eventually gave up. Backlund celebrated like he's just won the WWF championship, which Heenan mentioned. Vince responded by saying he just made a former 3-time WWF champion submit.

Bob Backlund gained overness from this match.

Vince: "We're just moments away from our big main event, so let's review some of the events that led up to the Money Inc. - Proud Americans match.

Review

Footage of the IRS speech last week is shown, followed by Patriot's attack. Then IRS' interference in the battle royal and Patriot chasing him to the back.

Money Inc. (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. The Proud Americans

A long decent match with a lot of tag team work from both sides. The first close near fall came after an IRS powerslam on Patriot. DiBiase then got a near fall of his own after a running knee lift. Money Inc. hit used their regular heel-team tactics. DiBiase later went for a piledriver and Patriot countered it into a backdrop. Tatanka got the hot tag and a near fall on DiBiase following a tomahawk chop off the top. IRS went in and shifted the momentum after a clothesline to the back of the head. That gave DiBiase a near fall. Money Inc. continued to control the match until DiBiase went for the Million Dollar Dream, but Patriot hit DiBiase from the back and both legal men were down. Both Patriot and IRS got the tags and their mini-match continued until Patriot signaled for the Figure Four, but DiBiase came in and distracted him. Patriot hit a right hand and Tatanka went in. The Proud Americans double clotheslined DiBiase to the outside and Tatanka went after him. While the referee was busy watching the DiBiase-Tatanka action, IRS hit Patriot with a low blow and covered him with his feet on the ropes. The referee turned around and counted the three count. Money Inc. and Jimmy Hart celebrated their victory as Anguish went off the air.

The 2-hour thing really brought out the best of most wrestlers (You can give him 5 hours but Tatanka will always star Tatanka). The good long matches actually reminded me that I'm watching a wrestling show, and that's always a good thing.
