Anyone got any favourites for me to check out?

I'm after the Bill Bailey style "songs that are funny", rather than parodies.

Like, standup comedians that use music a lot. Like Stephen Lynch.

But the musical Avenue Q is hilarious and many songs from it are hilarious minus the context of the play itself.

Billy Connolly does that sorta stuff sometimes as well. Not so much now I think, but in the 80's he did it a lot.

I really can't stand comedy songs. For me they're always the bit of an act that comes with the most boredom factor.

You could be watching a great performance then the comedian grabs a guitar and warbles away self-importantly and it's not funny.

Bill Bailey escapes this in part as he often incorporates music INTO the act without just singing a song in the middle of his act.

Anybody heard of Rodney Carrington or Tim Wilson? Rodney's songs are way better but Tim Wilson has his moments.

Heh, not stand up, but if you go searching for their not-so-popular stuff, Tenacious D are a treat.
