Didn't really care for this episode all that much as I don't care about Ryan's dad as a character. Just not that interesting. The stuff with Seth and Summer were decent and Summer trying to learn the Hebrew alphabet was good, but the majority of the episode was just not all that interesting. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come. Taylor wasn't even her usual great self here.

^^^^ I wouldn't say this is shooting the show in the leg, it's been on for 4 seasons and it's ratings have declined steadily since it first aired.

They shot the show in the leg when they moved it to Thursdays at 8pm after one season and without a decent timeslot partner. You notice they haven't made that mistake with 24, House or Prison Break, and it's because they realise it was a mistake.

This week's episode was the weakest of the season, but still better than arguably anything in the 2nd or 3rd season outside of "Rainy Day Women". I sure hope the Seth-Summer marriage avoidance thing isn't something that's a really long drawn out arc, but I can take it as a 2-3 episode thing. Sandy was particularly awesome this week; it's good to see Peter Gallagher finally having some material to work with this year.

In it's first season on Thursday nights though it did quite well against stiff competition. Against the same competition it went down almost 2 million viewers in season 3. This season the drop is likely due to Grey's Anatomy being added at 9 PM

I do agree with it not having a proper partner on Thursday nights(Til Death and War at Home are not good lead-ins as both are comedies likely to get cancelled at the end of this year) but FOX did try to give it one with Reunion last year, but The O.C.'s audience had dropped so much and not very many stuck around to watch Reunion.

The only time The O.C. did extremely well was when in the summer when there was no competition and when it was directly after American Idol, the top rated show in America. This is also how House started(post-Idol spot) but it has since become a program FOX can count on to do well even without the strong lead-in. It has no stable program to air with before Idol starts and it does perfectly fine by itself.

Where would you have moved/kept it? It doesn't fit on Saturday, Sunday or Monday, if it was moved to Friday it wouldn't have lasted this long. You would also want to avoid One Tree Hill, a similar show that is going for the same audience. Granted The O.C. would probably end up better then One Tree Hill given that FOX is a bigger network then The WB/CW but it's just not smart to put 2 similar shows against each other unless you are positive that it won't hurt your network

Even if you blame the move to Thursday as the reason ratings went down from Season 1 to Season 2(which it probably was a cause), this still doesn't explain how the ratings have went down almost 50% since season 2. The competition has not gotten much stronger on Thursdays(except for Grey's)

Now that Onrimichelle (or however it is spelled >_>) is gone, hopefully Ryan and Taylor can actually be good again as with him in the picture it just got boring watching them. I didn't like this love triangle deal at all. Seth going on a spiritual hick with Che was just awesome as was Seth finding his spiritual animal in an otter and later Che saying that he is in love with an otter. :o CHE IS GAY FOR SETH. :o Very odd indeed and should provide for some great stuff with Che as he is awesome.

Julie getting Spencer to trick Kirstin in believing that one of the man whores gave five women Chlamydia was a good storyline. Julie is great, too.

I finally got around to watching last week's episode. I liked the storyline of Che getting Seth to join him on his mission to free Chuck the Groundhog but they get locked on the roof and are arrested and later we find out that Che was not in love with an otter (Seth's inner animal), but instead a groundhog as he mets the girl who got locked up for helping Summer steal the groundhog.

Taylor stalking Ryan in the mall with her binoculars was just awesome as was her hiding in the car with the therapist and not talking to Ryan but instead to the therapist and she would relay the message to Ryan. And later she dressed up in a groundhog suit and stalked Ryan some more. She clearly is insane and I love it.

The stuff with Katlin and Luke's brothers and them keep telling her to "type that she likes his butt" was just so gay. Clearly they are gay. But Bullet and Julie are good together. Bullet is just great.

And Kirstin is having another baby at 40 years old.

Overall a good episode. I liked it.

This was one of the best episodes of the season so far. Deputy Leo as Young Sandy was awesome, Taylor was classic and Bullet was Bullet, which is awesome. Even Kaitlin has gotten awesome. Seth and Summer's storyline I assume is a set-up to some sort of Ross-Rachel ending when the show concludes, but it was okay. They finally revealed what everyone had already figured out 3 years ago about Kirsten's abortion. It's a sign of how the show has matured that they're not treating it like the ultimate conclusion to some huge melodramatic 3 episode arc. I'm gonna have a WAY harder time letting this show go than Veronica Mars.

I told you Deputy Leo as Young Sandy was great. And yeah, I agree about Kaitlin somehow become good. She was really horrible last season but this season they have made her interesting with the Bullet interaction. Maybe it is just how great Bullet is that anything involving him is great.

The OC was pretty good tonight. I liked how Kirstin couldn't escape the "hos and bitches" from the New Port women even with Spitz's wife doing it. Taylor getting excited for her own birthday because she pretty much never got invited to one ever was great as well. And Kaitlin continues to come into her own when it is pretty much too late. She was great these past couple of weeks and her bringing out the Clown Porn was awesome, especially hanging up the mug shot with "this guy loves clown porn" for Frank was great. I also thought Seth filming the blow up killer whale in the pool for his pretentious art film for Summer was funny. Oh, and Ryan said he loved Taylor. Twice. Awwww [/TGC]. :shifty:

But the only thing I wasn't really a fan of was the earthquake. I think it was a pretty dumb idea to do one of these to get rid of Kirstin's baby. I hope they don't go down that route as those are so cliche. Maybe someone will die in it?

Season 4 has made "The O.C." one of my favorite shows again, and this episode is one of the best. It's now definitely gonna suck to see it go. Loved the Seth/Ryan stuff, and the Julie/Kaitlin/Ice Cream Guy stuff continued Kaitlin's good streak. Sandy was classic the whole episode, and Taylor/Summer was indeed awesome. Only one more week. :crying:

So the series has official ended and it was a good show to end an awesome season. Kaitlin did a horrible impression of Sandy. :shifty: Seth and Summer in matching recliner chairs and acting like an old couple was funny. But it was a little weird having all this stuff change in just one episode, like Julie getting pregnant, Bullet living in the house and Frank out of the picture, the Cohen's all living together, Taylor moving out and Ryan and Taylor break up. So Julie is marrying the Bullet and we get to meet his 13 children and one of them is not like the others. >_> But they are all doing the "BANG" which is great. Taylor getting put on the most wanted list at the airport for going on her rant was great. Then the rest of the episode was focusing on the wedding of Julie and Bullet and Frank showing up at the original place and calling the cell phone to break it up, but Julie eventually choses neither Bullet or Frank.

The end with the fast forwarding to the many happenings like Julie graduating from college (and her son waving his arms like he is some autistic kid, seriously, that kid did not look normal), Sandy being a teacher instead of a lawyer, Seth and Summer end up marrying each other, and Ryan works as a contractor at what looks to be the same site that he worked at when he left the Cohen's to go live with his ex-girlfriend to raise their child together and then he notices a kid in the same position he was at the start of the series and asks if he needs help and we end there.
