Clerks. 2

One of the funniest movies I've ever seen in my life. One of the best Kevin Smith movies, I rank it just under Clerks. and Chasing Amy and above Dogma and 'Strikes Back. I loved the ending, and I couldnt imagine any better way to end it.

8.5/10

I've never seen Star Wars before in my life until yesterday. My friend brought over the original trilogy, so we watched them.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

A great movie. Loved the story and the acting. Great special effects. After seeing this, I can see how Star Wars has so many loyal hardcore fans.

8.8/10

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

I went into this movie expecting around the same quality from IV. This movie is an improvement over IV. Better special effects, better music, I loved the story in this game. And the last 30minutes was amazing.

9.3/10

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

This was a great ending to the original trilogy. Special effects once again were improved. However the story was slightly weaker than in the previous two. However, I loved those small cute creatures (sorry, I forgot their name).

8.8/10

Expect the following reviews from me soon:

-Star Wars Episode I: Phantom Menace

-Supersize Me

-Troy

-Kill Bill V.1

Supercross - 3/10

From director Steve Boyum (known notably as a stunt supervisor and direct-to-video film director) comes another formulaic trip that counts in the well known theory of “porn for…whoever is a huge fucking fan of this” films. First, it was breakdancing in You Got Served, skateboarding in Grind, and now motocross in Supercross. To its credit, the stunts are rather impressive, but the rest of the movie falls flat on its face, never getting the conflict between the two brothers played by Steve Howey and Mike Vogel quite right and other bit talents like Robert Patrick (obviously prepping for his next role in John Cena’s The Marine) and Robert Carradine are wasted in their generic roles. Boyum clearly knows how to do one whole thing, and that’s stunts and he should probably stick to that thing and let real directors do the other work.

Diary of a Mad Black Woman - 4/10

The biggest problem with the first film adaptation by famed black playwright Tyler Perry of one of his plays could be perhaps that the dramatic element seems so viscerally unrealistic and soap operatic that it is ridiculously hard to believe. Sure, Kimberly Elise is a solid talent, but she was much more able to be related to in Woman Thou Art Loosed. Then, the strange transitions make for awkward scenes, much like a man getting shot in a courtroom and then cutting to two people making out and showing love. This leaves Tyler Perry's fat suited Madea to try to guide the bit of humor the film has and I must say, Perry's stuff here works. Unfortunately, barring a lovely inspirational moment by Cicely Tyson, the movie falls flat.

BTW, factor in Diary's biggest problem....it preaches God's word like crazy and then features one of the good characters torturing and making fun of a crippled man in a bathtub. I guess God was "aight" with hurting people in the name of revenge.

Natural Born Killers - 4/10.

I'd never seen NBK in it's entirity before today. I liked small doses of the movie (The "Everybody Loves Mallory Segment" and "The Interview"), and I can see Tarantino's style just trying to break through from underneath Oliver Stone & David Veloz's gloss. It's just a whole lot of madness without alot of method. It reminded me of the 'video nasties' of the 1980's.

Star Wars Episode I: Phantom Menace

I wasn't expecting much going in, so I can't say I was really let down. The acting was alright. Special effects were great, and music was pretty good. However the plot/story didn't keep me interested all way through, and Jar Jar really pissed me off.

6.0/10

Super Size Me

I found this to be a funny and enjoyable documentary. I'm glad I watched it. Even though I only eat McDonalds like several times a year.

7.4/10

Ali

Probably Will Smith's best preformance in a movie. It had great action, lots of drama, and I just really liked this movie. I'm also a big fan of Muhammad Ali.

8.4/10

Kill Bill volume 1

I saw this movie once 2 years ago, and I'm glad I saw it again. I just forgot how awesome it was. Excellent story, excellent music, great acting, lots of action. One of the best movies I've ever seen. I also loved Go Go Yubari, she's my hero.

9.2/10

Expect a review for Troy around tomorrow.

Corpse Bride- ***1/4

-This was totally solid, but missing something at the same time. It seems like there was 2-3 really fun, memorable scenes that Tim Burton must have accidently took out right before it went to theatres. The characters were good (both major and minor) and the visuals were great, so it's a little frustrating that the film didn't do more. But maybe in the longrun this was the better choice.

Unbreakable- ***

-A little slow at times, but I like the pacing okay. I like M. Night but he is waaaay too overrated in some circles. Sometimes I think he tries to do too much, but in this case he kept it simple and it worked.

Troy

Troy was an alright movie. I felt that Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom did fairly solid preformances, and the sound and story was good. I just felt this movie dragged on, and it had several boring moments.

6.3/10

Fearless

A great martial arts movie by Jet Li. This movie has one of the best stories in any Jet Li film (close to the ranks of Hero). The fight scenes were very well done. I also found this movie very dramatic as well. The action and drama mixed well together. This is one of Jet Li's better movies. Even though, honestly I've never seen him in a bad movie.

8.2/10

Note: After much thinking, and looking back at the ratings I've given movies, some I was not satisfied with. Around tomorrow or the next day, I'll post the names of all the movies I've after reivewed with more acurate ratings.

The Break Up - *** 1/2 of *****. It's an okay film, the acting is rather sound, but they don't end up together again! Which is suspected continually throughout the film. Why do movies end this way now?

Miami Vice ** of ****. Dear Lord, the directing in this was terrible. I had no idea what was really going on, there were many completley unneeded camera shots, and little sections. If it didn't have an asian chick in, it would only get *1/2.

Michael Mann seems to be slowing turning into Tony Scott where it looks like he prefers style over substance.

I hope that's not the case, though. :( Heat is easily one of my favorite movies ever, and Collateral's up there, too.

I'd take True Romance over Man on Fire and Domino anyday, though. =P Although I guess both True Romance's and Top Gun's strengths/weaknesses come from their scripts moreso than the actual directing.

Man on Fire was great, though, while Domino was just.. I don't know. Annoying, I guess.
