Can MTV just come out and admit that this is nothing but advertising for new DVDs and this years Summer Blockbusters? And are they really that desperate to show how diverse they are that they actually nominated Stomp the Yard for multiple awards?

First I was gonna say that we should be used to this by now and that there is no reason to get up in arms every year when they released these nominations obviously catered towards teenage audiences. Then I was gonna say that we don't get up in arms when the Nickelodeon Awards and Teen Choice Awards do the same thing. Then I realised that the reason for that is our ability to remember a time when MTV was actually edgy and interesting. Now I'm just sad. :(

No, Stomp The Yard got good reviews initially. It just wained over time for some odd reason.

I think this years nominees are a better class then in previous MTV years. At least this time they actually have a wider variety and better choices.

And for everyone who complains about MTV every year when it comes to Movies Awards and VMA's, they're to the Grammy's, Oscars, Academy Awards, Golden Globes, ect. They've always carried a more mainstream focus, which is actually a good break from someone winning and half of the viewers asking "What movie was that again?".

I haven't even seen 300 and I know it has to be better than those two. I enjoyed Little Miss Sunshine, but it wasn't what it was made out to be. As for Borat, horrible. Cohen should be nominated for a best actor category because staying in that character and so forth is very impressive, but outside of just looking at that objectively... was a bad unfunny movie.

With that said.. he'll probably win and "Borat" will accept the award.

I understand it's MTV is just being MTV, I even think the list is pretty solid. But c'mon, it's so blatantly obvious that it's a giant advertising tool for movies that are in theaters now (Blades of Glory, 300), about to have a sequel (Pirates) or just got released on DVD (Dreamgirls, Stomp the Yard). And of course, as pointed out, that ridiculous "Best Movie You Haven't Seen Yet" - that one is really irritating. Oh and it's to further MTV's inexplicable hard-on for Will Smith, I guarantee his kid will win Breakthrough Performance.

I know all award shows are just advertising and something to slap on a trailer or DVD box, but MTV is just so blatant with it. And I think if anything, they're insulting their demographic - do you really think your average MTV viewer saw Little Miss Sunshine and the Departed or understood the point of Dreamgirls and Borat?

It's MTV, I thought everyone ignores them now. I can't think of anything on their programming that I would watch for more than 10 minutes. These award shows are all garbage anyways.

Sarah Silverman was wonderful...

"Our next three presenters names each sort of describe something about them. Like, Robin Williams is like the first robin of spring or like... Mandy Moore always leaves me wanting more... and John Krasinski is a dirty polak!" :D

I wanted more Sarah Silverman, she was hilarious, spotlight of the show, too bad the Academy would never let her host their show. Even though the nominees this year were as bad as every year, the show was more entertaining than it has any right to be (especially after the past shows) thanks to a great host.

I didn't see the awards, but I heard it was basically just a 2 hour long ad for the Transformers movie, leading up to it winning "best summer movie" award over the Simpsons...thats a bunch of BS...
