Youtube Covers Battle HYPER MEGA TURBO!

Yeah, so I added the HYPER MEGA TURBO to make it sound uber exciting, but the simple idea here is to use Youtube to list some of your favourite cover versions....the reason I say Youtube, is because I'm looking more at live ones that may not have actually been recorded by a band, but that gets whipped out at thier gigs and such.

I'll start you off with two obvious ones:

Mr Bungle 'What The World Needs Now'

Turisas 'Rasputin'

Chances are this won't get off the ground, but meh, might as well try :P

Love that. That whole show, from the Bizarre Festival, is worth picking up on DVD, it's an amazing gig, really showcases how diverse their influences are, and what a multi-talented vocalist Mike Patton is. It's interesting they went with a straight cover of a Bacharach song to open, only to totally fuck up several of their own songs later on; "My Ass Is On Fire" is barely recognisable.

I'm not a big YouTube user, so I'm not sure what is and isn't there, but here's a couple of great cover versions I've stumbled across in the past:

Nouvelle Vague performing "Sweet And Tender Hooligan", originally by The Smiths.

Peter Murphy, Trent Reznor et al performing "Nightclubbing" originally by Iggy Pop

Fantomas' awesome Slayer medley

Bjork and PJ Harvey perform "Satisfaction".
