I need music

Recommended Posts

I have an 80GB iPod now, which with all my music, podcasts and videos still leaves me with 70GB free, so I'd like some music recommendations based on what I already have, so here's a quick sample of the artists on my iPod now:

- Motion City Soundtrack

- Jason Mraz

- Panic! At The Disco

- Fall Out Boy

- Linkin Park

- Green Day

- Scouting For Girls

- Good Charlotte

- Utada Hikaru

- Eagle-Eye Cherry

So recommendations based on those artists would be much appreciated, so that all this spare space doesn't go to waste.

Let's go...I'm basically just going with the most recent album of some bands, even if it's not their best (eg. NUFAN...but given what you've listed, I think you're more likely to enjoy this than their older stuff);

'Pop-Punk'/'Power-Pop'

    • "Yes, Virginia" by The Dresdon Dolls
    • "North" by Something Corporate
    • "Like Vines" by The Hush Sound (not their newest release, but still recent, but I suggested this as it basically IS P!ATD, and I haven't heard the new one)
    • "Do You Feel" by The Rocket Summer

    Alt-Pop (Indie)

[*]"My Heart has A Wish That You Would Not Go" by Aereogramme ("Finding A Light" is one of the most beautiful tunes I've ever heard)

I'm working my way through the list, cheers for the Rickolus link, have downloaded those three and have Rise Or Die Trying going and some Reliant K, so your efforts are not in vain. My speakers are a little screwy though, so shall have to wait until I put it on iPod to give opinions.

Pretty sure it's Relient K, due to trademark issues. Still, I'd have suggested largely what YI has done, I'll throw in the obligatory Coheed recommendation, because if you don't like them, we can't be friends anymore, and The Jelous Sound, because no one seems to have heard of them, and they should be heard, they are ace.

Oh, and to counterbalance the amount of pussy-ass emo-pop you like (don't worry, I like it too >_>), listen to Reuben. Reuben are awesome.

EDIT: You may or may not like Flyleaf, post-hardcore with sexy female vocals (Y).

And Finch are one of the best emo-y type post-hardcore whatdyamacallit bands going.

KIGH are great, been to see them twice, really good stuff.

I like most of the stuff on your list so I'll just throw up some other stuff I listen to that could be linked to any of those bands.

Saosin, Funeral For a Friend, Taking Back Sunday, YouMeAtSix, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Academy Is..., New Found Glory & Blink-182.

Going with YI's genre classifications, I'll have some nice additions.

PUNK ROCK

- The Bronx - The Bronx (The second record, since both of their first two records are called The Bronx...that said, that's a bit more gritty than maybe you want.)

- Black Lips - Good Bad Not Evil (Same sort of thing, but I'd imagine a great record to booze it up.)

- Be Your Own Pet - any of their stuff, as both the self-titled and Get Awkward are fun punky records that don't take themselves seriously.

INDIE-POP/ELECTRO-POP

- Sons and Daughters - This Gift

- Islands - both Return to the Sea and Arm's Way

- Born Ruffians - Red Yellow and Blue

- Caribou - Andorra

- !!! - Louden Up Now and Myth Takes (though, I'd recommend listening to "Pardon My Freedom" from LUN and "Must Be The Moon" from MT first as the first tracks on both records are incredibly odd and tend to not reflect the dancey elements of the band.)

- Stereolab - any of their stuff, though, if you need a good starting point, Margerine Eclipse is their glossiest and easiest to get into being that it has more proper production and came from a major label.

Haha, Pitchfork Punk. >_< Well besides The Bronx. The Bronx are fucking harsh, although I'm all about their first record. I also like BYOP but they are the epitomy of indie-whores playing punk tunes. :shifty:

I'll add more later (I'm thinking Singer/Songwriter/Men, Alt-Rock and Indie-Rock), but I'm hungover as fuck and have work in 2 hours.

The new one isn't as good as Like Vines. It has more of the chick singing which is a good thing but it's not as catchy.
