For reference, among others, I like:

The Cribs

Death Cab For Cutie

The Decemberists

Idlewild

James Taylor

Jamiroquai

Malcolm Middleton

Miles Davis

Neil Young

The Postal Service

Prince

Ryan Adams

Scott Walker

Weather Report

I'd like recommendations based on some of those I listed but I wouldn't be totally averse to trying something new. Thanks!:)

Thanks for all these recommendations. There's a lot of things I don't know that I'll look into.

Those that I do know are:

The New Amsterdams - have a dozen or so odd songs

The School - have a couple of songs

The National - I have Boxer which I quite like

Aqualung - I have a few songs. Almost got the last album.

GCWCF - have a couple of songs

Iron & Wine - I have the Shepherd's Dog which I quite like

Architecture In Helsinki - never heard, but have heard good things.

Jakob Dylan - Heard a song somewhere. Plus is related to Bob Dylan.

So I'll begin with these and move into the unknown. Thanks again!

Yeah Animal Collective is the shit. Get Strawberry Jam. Also get Arch in Helsinki! Make sure you start with In Case We Die though.

Recommendations: Lucksmiths, Ballboy, Bon Iver, The Dodos, Magnetic Fields(some dislike, some love, the cool kids love <_<, get Distortion or 69 Love Songs.), Clap Your Hands! Say Yeah!(Assuming you haven't.), Wolf Parade(Apologies to Queen Mary, it's wonderful), Fleet Foxes, if you like Bob Dylan that much get The Tallest Man on Earth.

Also, of Montreal and Vampire Weekend. No one hates of Montreal(well, if you download Hissing Fauna).

Fuck, how could I forgot "Into It. Over It"? Especially seeing as I've been tagging and zipping up his stuff to upload for the 'Best Albums' thing. Basically it's a guy who recorded a song every week for a year, released them for free on his website (but the twat hasn't released them in one archive grrrr), and the vast majority of it is absolutely fucking AMAZING. I think it tails off a bit towards the end where he starts trying weirder stuff instead of writing the simple and catchy tunes where he's at his best. Basically he sounds near fucking identical to Ben Gibbard, but not in a weird forced way. His voice is amazing. A lot of his tracks sound DCFC'y, but he also has more Sunny Day Real Estate/Weatherbox big crunchy guitar style tracks.

But yeah, definite early DCFC vibe from a lot of his stuff. Here's some of his songs for you to get a feel, and get the archive when I up it;

Wk24: "Gear Isn't Expensive"

Wk02: "The Outcome Of All Our Lives" (sounds like its straight off "We Have The Facts...")

Wk04: "Anchor"

Wk26: "22 Syllables"

Wk45: "We Organised Your Life"

Wk44: "Southern California In The 80's"
