I have a few songs by them (glasvegas) and they aren't bad, but nothing I would go out of my way to listen to.

This is a playlist I threw together for one of my friends recently..

Sleepyhead by Passion Pit

Violent And Young by Iglu & Hartly

Dimmer by Bishop Allen

Glass Smash by The View

Tally Ho by The Clean

Right Moves by Josh Ritter

Adventures In Solitude by The New Pornographers

Heart it Races - As Played By Dr Dog by Architecture In Helsinki

Leader by Phantom Planet

Street Walkin' by Dan Auerbach

Gem Of A Bird by The View

Go by Sparklehorse with The Flaming Lips

Wooden Houses by Elsinore

Time Left For Love by Shout Out Louds

Oh My by Office

Exhausted by Joseph Arthur

polite dance song by the bird and the bee

Mr. Pitiful by Matt Costa

Lovesong Of The Buzzard by Iron And Wine

Travel in Time by Marching Band

Hide and Seek (Imogen Heap) by Dustin Kensrue

Any thoughts?

There was a string section? Haha.

I remember "Albion", as he did the thingy Squires stuff. And the "NEW-CAS-TLE!" bit was, as always EPIC!

Did he do "Lost Art Of Murder" too? I think I remember it, but I dunno.

Awesome show though. It went APESHIT during the encore, my mate lost his shoes and everything, nuts.

I specifically asked you if he did Lost Art of Murder and I'm fairly sure you said yes. <_<

What's the general opinion of Glasvegas? They're at T In The Park and I can't decide if I despise them or think they're alright :/

Metalman..was this the conversation we had when I was very, very drunk...said he started with "Music When THe Lights Go Out"...have just about no recollection of this conversation, or ANYTHING that was played the next morning, and slowly piecing things back together (rather badly) over time since then...if so...yeah, I probably wouldn't take what I said as gospel.

I hate Glasvegas, it doesn't help that the band (the singer especially) are seemingly absolute stuck up, pretentious cunts. I'm sure if I 'wanted' to like them, I probably could make myself, but I honestly don't 'want' to like them.

New Mike Hale tracks up on his myspace;

http://www.myspace.com/mikehalemusic

"Lives Like Mine" sounds far too familiar, like it's as though he's literally crossed "I'm In Need" and "Lose Is A Disappointment" from his debut, it's okay I guess, but not big on it. :/

"When She Loved Me" however is fucking AMAZING.

The new In The Red album is awesome too, very Nirvana 'grungy' feel to it. Plus there's an awesome tune on there called "Something Shocking" that if was stripped down to acoustic would fit right onto Hale's solo album.

Ooooh, info's up on the Suburban Home site...no release date yet, but they generally only put things up a couple of weeks/month or so before it's actually released.

Album's called "Lives Like Mine", tracklist and cover art and shizz;

SH136_lores_72.jpg

1. Lives Like Mine

2. Indigo Blues

3. When She Loved Me

4. Losing Ground

5. Red Tide

6. Your Heart Just May

7. Eager To Die

8. Making History Today

9. All For That Working Hour

10. If You Want To Know

11. Places Everyone

12. How To Walk Away

He also has a blog up on punknews.org about how he's becoming a 'full time' musician, it's a great read (often a little sad at times), the last couple have been lacking a bit, but he also records videos of random performances. He has one of Joey Cape doing "Minus" in his bedroom, Chris Wollard doing a song and the 'reunion' show of his old band Gunmoll.

My name is Mike Hale, I'm 34 years old, and today was the last day of my life. I packed up my tools with a little extra care at the end of my work day today. Who knows when they'll be used again?. Did I mention that I'm a carpenter? Was a carpenter?

That's kind of the problem. I've been wanting a different life for so long. I cant' remember a time when I wasn't wishing for it. I play guitar and sing a little too. That, also being part of the problem. it's all I've ever wanted to do. So much so, that everyday, I spend almost every minute day-dreaming about it.

About a year ago my wife decided she didn't want to be married anymore. A few months later i had to put my dog to sleep. Our economy went to shit and almost every job sight in America had to put the brakes on. This has left me in more than a crappy situation. I'm a world away from home, heartbroken, alone, dirt poor, sleeping on the floor in a friend's garage. None of which would be all that bad if I weren't so unhappy with my current role in the game of life. Being poor I can handle, being unhappy just sucks! I'm so tired. Tired of wishing it could all be different. Tired of wanting the things I'm too afraid to fight for. I'm tired of hearing "cut your hair, shave, cover those tattoos, go back to school, get an education, "Michael get a real life!" Mostly, I'm tired of waking up every morning feeling like another day has passed and I've done nothing to offer myself a change.

COME ON!!! How can you not want to just hug the guy? :( No wonder his songs are all so fucking heartbreaking. :(

And when the thought of Mike Hale's album soon wasn't erection worthy enough.....

Released later this month, no tracklist information yet. But I presume the likes of "ihnfsa", "No One Is Angry, Just Afraid", "The Lost Blood" and "Like She Said" will be on here. :D

Appears not...hmmm...this appears to be the tracklist;

Disc 1

1 Eyes Lose Their Fire (5:30)

2 Bridges In The Sky (4:39)

3 Solsbury Hill (5:55)

4 The Smoke Save Lives

5 The Lost Blood (4:53)

6 Designed For Damage

7 Two Sparks (7:43)

8 No-one Is Angry, Just Afraid (4:44)

9 Fake Handhakes, Earnest Smiles (5:49)

10 Strangest Words And Pictures

11 Creating Our Reality

Disc 2 (BONUS)

1 Fear From Death (3:43)

2 Light Outside Here (10:02)

3 Boundaries (3:54)

4 Eyes Lose Their Fire (The Joy Formidable Remix)

Really not sure about throwing the "Two Sparks, Two Stars" EP on there...and "Boundaries" again (as awesome as they are). :/ As "The Lost Blood" has a lot more in common with the other songs I mentioned at the top (I presumed it was from those sessions) that those, so I feel as though the flow of the album might be far from the best. At the end of the day, it will be 5 new Kyte songs for me and a new remix, so I can't complain. :)

Dear people;

You know, when there are 'TRENDWHORE INDIE BANDS' that are actually FUCKING GOOD!!! TELL ME!! Because I never check them out, because I generally just write them off as shit. But Cut Copy and Ratatat are awesome. People should tell me these things. :(

Cut Copy have been good for like two years. <_<

Nothing wrong with a bit off trendwhore indie. Most of it is actually good - friendly fires, cut copy, late of the pier blah blah blah. It's just Glasvegas and Vampire Weekend and that sort of thing that isn't that good.

everybody should listen to Let's Wrestle.

Any particular songs?

"Quazar Blues" is a particular favourite of mine right now, especially for the lyric "We all have girlfriends, we fuck and watch DVDs, oit mate you got 50p?", other than that I'd suggest "Song For Man With Pica Syndrome", "Song For ABBA Tribute Record", "I Want To Be In Husker Du" and "Joe Reddington, You'll Be The Death Of Me".
