Disturbed & Finch fight onstage at Rolling Rock.

You may know Finch more from their "Worms Of The Earth" single from "Underworld" and the song "What It Is To Burn", but I'll be damned if this won't nab them a bit of publicity.

Somewhat short form of the story: apparently, Finch guitarist Randy Strohmeyer made some very hostile comments towards Disturbed singer David Draiman during a 2002 interview with Mean Street magazine. During the show, Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan was watching Three Days Grace when the stage rotated to reveal the next band, Finch.

According to Donegan (who was there with his wife and eight-month old daughter), the band began to mock Donegan when Dan approached Randy (onstage, mind you) to ask him about the comments.

According to Strohmeyer, he approached Dan to explain the comments when he was attacked by Dan.

After the fists began to fly, Draiman and Disturbed's manager Jeff Battaglia jumped in on the action. When security finally pulled everyone apart, Finch resumed their set before being escorted to their tour bus and subsequently out of the premise.

One curious thing was that while Finch played, Disturbed rounded up their crew, as well as members of Sevendust and their crew, and waited for Finch to return from the stage.

So anyways, yeah, let's ignore the music they play and discuss.

This is the kind of shit I see from 12 year old kids. Somebody says something about somebody, that person attacks him, can't get on top. So he gets lots of his friends to come and help beat the guy up, it's fucking pathetic. I'm not trying to take sides, I like both bands. I'd need to know what was said about Dave before I can really make an oppinion, and how they were mocking Dan. Anybody got a transcript of the interview?

I don't think Disturbed went out looking for a fight though, it seems like they went to question them, okay, they should have waited until they were off stage but its not like he went on their and floored him.

But why did they go get Sevendust? Did they have some good Finch insults?

The article has the quote and actions in question. The "mocking", if true, seems rather...childish.

Disturbed and Sevendust are all long-time friends, since Sevendust has toured with Disturbed on numerous trips and generally helped Disturbed get on their feet when they first started.

As you mentioned, Finch was on stage, and they should've waited. I'd be pissed too, no one's going to come on up stage DURING a set and "talk calmly." The interview was in 2002, what's there to discuss? If he was that concerned he could've done it earlier.

That's funny because Finch has a different take on things. According to them the entire story is different from MTVNews'.

"To anyone who either witnessed or heard about today's incident at the Rolling Rock Town Fair. While we were setting up, one of the members of Disturbed, Dan Donegan, was harassing us from the side of the stage. Before we were to play, Randy (our guitarist) walked over to Dan to explain that the comments he made a few years ago were a joke, and to give him a friendly handshake. Dan proceeded to assault Randy and Disturbed's singer, David Draiman, attacked Mike Herrara (our drum tech) which caused a fight to ensue. We want everyone to know that Finch did not start this fight. However, we do not take kindly to being assaulted or having our lives threatened. We would like this little conflict to be resolved as soon as possible, but we will not give in to bullying bands threatening us or our fans."

^ from Finch's official site. :ohwell:

I like Disturbed, never heard Finch, but this is all kind've stupid. When you're threatening someone's life things have gotten out of hand and this is just as an example of how the "rock n'roll" business can be so fucked up sometimes.

This quote can also be found in the article. Fourth-to-last paragraph.

Yeah, thanks for telling me Midget. I didn't really read the site but was aware of the problems between the bands. Again I just think this is stupid that someone's actually threatening someone's life. This is the music industry, not first grade.

Randy Strohmeyer had this coming to him.

I do like Finch, they are one of my guilty pleasure bands, but Randy is the most out spoken member, but he is also the most careless and vindictive. He has been insulting Disturbed for ages, mainly because he hates their music, and once said he wants to rip out Draimans chin piercing.
