Bonnaroo 2010

The acts on Thursday are lower tier acts traditonally. If you just look at Thursday from last year, you can tell. The biggest name was probably either MURS, Chairlift or the Zac Brown Band. If you aren't camping, there's no real reason to show up on Thursday, to be honest.

Honestly, if I were super-rich I would go, because the line-up is amazing. However, I live in fucking Toronto and I'm not super-rich. :(

You are several hundred miles closer than I am. And you can probably do this all for under 1000 USD. Ticket is under $300. You can stay somewhere if you're smart for under $400. Then it's just getting back and forth every day and from Toronto to Tennessee.

Aw, fuck yeah. Conan O'Brien will be MCing the What Stage on Friday and Saturday, in addition to performing in the Comedy Tent.

If I believed in God, I would be thanking him right now. This is going to be epic.

Yes, I certainly have a thousand dollars to spare. <_____<

  • 1 month later...

So, it's a month away, guys (Lowerdeck :shifty:). I expect the schedule to be released by the end of the week or sometime next week. I'm starting to buy my supplies and a new tent and for the girlfriend and I.

I can't wait to be there again.

Schedule still hasn't come out yet. Gah.

But I see today they announced a new tent (or something) with dance and electronic acts. Kaskade and the Crystal Method are headlining that.

I'm flying down from Rhode Island on Thursday, will get to Murfreesboro Thursday night. Then just go back and forth Fri/Sat/Sun from there. Monday probably rest up, before going to Nashville for the night. Head back north Tuesday.

Really not liking the 12-2 block Friday between Flaming Lips DSOTM, Black Keys, and Daryl Hall/Chromeo. I wanted to see all three, and all three are the same damn time.

I don't get to Nashville until nearly 3, so me getting down in time to see Baroness is doubtful. That was the only one I would have liked to have seen Thursday.

Priorities:

FRIDAY

1:00-2:30 Conan O'Brien

7:30-8:30 Steve Martin and Steep Canyon Rangers

9:30-11:30 Kings of Leon

12:00-2:00 Flaming Lips Dark Side

1:30-3:00 Crystal Method

Notes: Conan vs. Gaslight? Ouch. I sense a lot of midday wandering, and just finding random bands. Might be open for recommendations here.

SATURDAY

1:30-3:15 USA/England

3:30-4:30 Isis

(End of Jimmy Cliff set here)

7:00-8:30 Jeff Beck

8:30-10:30 Stevie Wonder

(Jay-Z or Thievery Corporation here)

2:15-3:45 Deadmau5

Notes: Isis vs. Cliff... made much more easier when Isis said this was their last go round. Deadmau vs. GWAR might be another interesting decision, right now leaning Deadmau. Someone talk me in or out of considering the 5:30 Brandi Carlile set.

And what block could possibly be the Superjam?

Alternate idea: Conan on Saturday?, skip much of the USA/England game, Gaslight on Friday.

SUNDAY

Notes: I really have nothing I want to hardcore want to see, other than DMB closing everything out. I've already seen DKM twice, so that might not be a priority. Though it could be 50/50 I end up doing that anyway. Could be tempted to do Calexico, then Blues Traveler or Regina Spektor, then split Phoenix and Rise Against.

If you miss The National, you're a fucking idiot. Their last 3-albums have basically been masterpieces.

I'd also suggest Lucero on the Sunday, I think you'd really like them.

Also, some people show Frank 'fucking' Turner some love for Thursday.

I'm not familiar at all with The National. I keep hearing tons of positive about them though.

And besides, the alternative would be... Nitty Gritty Dirt Band? Maybe, but I'm planning on seeing bluegrass after anyway. OK Go? I already saw them three years ago, they were alright.

I'll probably miss the beginning of the National, since She & Him is my absolute #1 must-see band this year. I'm in love with Zooey, so it's a given. :shifty:

I don't know about the superjam. It wasn't there last year because of scheduling conflicts or something, and it's t-minus 3 weeks and counting and nothing has been announced yet. Maybe they will announce something a week or so before it starts. Hopefully, anyway.

If you can't get into Conan either day, don't worry, they'll be playing it live on the Lunar stage apparently.

12:00-2:00 ... Joe Pesci, why the hell this?

2:00-3:00 Crystal Method

The DMB set was pretty bad. Lousy song selection, too heavy on the lackluster new album. Nothing really epic out of the entire thing.

Here's what I ended up doing:

FRIDAY

1:00-1:35 Conan O'Brien

1:45-2:45 Gaslight Anthem (full set)

(gap)

5:45-7:15 The National (full set)

7:30-8:30 Steve Martin and Steep Canyon Rangers (full set)

9:30-12:00 split between: Kings of Leon, The Bakerton Group, wandering around

12:00-12:15 Flaming Lips

12:15-1:30 Daryl Hall and Chromeo (majority of set)

1:45-2:30 Flaming Lips, Stardeath, and White Dwarfs doing Dark Side of the Moon (full set)

SATURDAY

1:00-3:30 USA vs. England (was in Murfreesboro at the time though)

(gap)

6:15-6:45 The Dead Weather

7:00-8:15 Jeff Beck (full set)

8:15-8:30 Ozomatli (the part of the show they were in the crowd)

9:15-10:30 Stevie Wonder (majority of set)

11:30-12:30 Jay-Z

12:30-1:15 Thievery Corporation

1:15-1:45 Clutch

1:45-2:30 Kaskade

2:30-3:45 GWAR (full set)

SUNDAY

1:15-1:30 Japandroids

1:45-3:00 John Butler Trio (full set)

(gap)

5:50-6:10 Dropkick Murphys

6:15-7:15 Medeski, Martin, and Wood (majority of set)

7:15-8:15 NBA Finals Game 5

9:00-11:15 DMB (full set)

Some of you might be questioning the gaps in the middle of every afternoon. Why? It was 97 degrees out with a heat index of 107. It got rough to handle the heat and humidity, so I got out for a little while. Or in the case of Saturday, which saw heat plus storms, staying in Murfreesboro until 5:30 and then leaving for Roo.
