That sobbing you hear is every hip kid on the planet reacting to the Flight of the Conchords' decision on Thursday to retire their cult HBO series. Stars Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, who were nominated for two Emmys last year, told fans on their Web site: "The less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it. So in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won't be returning for a third season."

I never caught it. Was it really as good as I hear?

The first season was amazing. The songs and the sketches were all top notch.

The second season seemed to suffer a bit. The songs don't stick with you near as much as the first season's do. This decision is probably for the best.

I doubt it's the end of the Conchords and their comedy/music, but to stop the tv show is a good idea.

What Gabes said, pretty much. The songs in the first series were all material they'd performed live before, and they worked the episodes around them, whereas in the second series they had to come up with new material to fit around the episodes, and had less time to do it. They'd said for ages it wasn't likely to continue past the second series, so eh.

I loved them, some of their songs were genius but even when the music fell flat they were still fun to watch. I just want my damn Rock Band songs already :@
