Team Fortress 2

Let me make one thing perfectly clear. I am terrible...TERRIBLE...at FPS games. There are frozen mongoloids with a better K:D than me.

Alas, there's something about TF2 that I dig. The humor, decent pace, and random loot system are intriguing (the crafting system and crates can FRO, for the record.) So I propose some EWB shenanigans on said game, whether it be a few rounds or some discussion.

It's free to play, but requires Steam. Furthermore, picking this game up allows you to play the Goldeneye Source mod, which is just all sorts of excellent.

It is extremely fun when you get the right people. Going on 2Fort and totally ignoring the briefcases and just going for kills is what usually ensues, but I really cannot stand when people decide to Pyro or Heavy to the enemy spawn and just wait for them to open the door and kill them before they can step out.

Having 3-4 snipers on both teams or 2-3 engineers building turrets on the bridge/in the water under the bridge/in the enemy tunnel can get fun.

Ack - I tried to get into Team Fortress 2 super hard - but the amount of people running around and exploiting the classes just blew my mind. It seems really hard to casually get into.

Which is exactly why I've stayed away from playing online. Fortunately, it seems bots now work in all game modes. Which reminded me of just how out-of-it I was during a round of Payload :(

Was watching an Engie last night who knew WTF he was doing with teleporters. Even down a man, his Red team just mowed through every checkpoint in that PL round. Later on, they switched to 2Fort and he was able to hold down the pipes leading to Red Intel fantastically. Awesome to watch.

TF2 is all kinds of awesome, fuck the haters. It's hard to get into but once you play it for a while it becomes great. Plus it's free to play now with a shitload of new content still being released. It's pretty awesome for a game made 4 years ago. Also, hats.

And yes, we should totally do a TF2 server. I recommend CP_dustbowl as a map

I haven't played TF2 in ages, but I used to have some great fun on silly servers just being.. well, silly. Running all-engie teams and placing all our turrets in one place, shit like that. Pyro's still my favourite class though, love that feeling when you get the jump on an enemy and fry 'em like bacon.

I agree with your stance and would like to subscribe to your newsletter. I'll see about setting us up a server this evening, maybe run one through the week and see if it proves worthy.

And Cloudy, absolutely agree with ya on ambushing with a Pyro. Got the jump on a Scout last night while I was using the Backburner. Turns out he was in the back of a line with a Demo, passing Spy, and a Medic. Deep-friend dings were the order of the evening. Fried allll their asses before getting taken down by a Heavy. Glorious.

To me, TFC2 just isn't fun. And I was a diehard of the original TFC. They had a good thing going with the original, but all the tweaks they did just never sat right with me. I downloaded it a year ago, played for a month and just never got into it.
