Tottenham's striker Mido will leave the club and return to Roma at the end of his 18-month loan spell.

The Egyptian international, 23, was hampered by groin and knee injuries in the latter stages of the season after an impressive start at White Hart Lane.

Mido made 28 starts in total for Tottenham, scoring 14 goals.

Tottenham have also decided to release Serbia and Montenegro full-back Goran Bunjevcevic and Morocco defender Noureddine Naybet.

Mido, though, is the biggest name exit.

He had been expected to leave after the recent signing of Dimitar Berbatov.

So Mido, Benjecevic and Naybet are all gone....

I posted that 3 days ago.

We're continually linked with Didier Zokora, who I've never seen play. But, if he's as good as his reputation, he'll be an excellent buy, giving Carrick more attacking freedom where, as he showed against Arsenal, he can really excell.

Now for a left-winger.

Zokora's probably only second to Diarra in the Ligue 1 when it comes to holding the ball, but he is pure unadulturated shit when it comes to going forward. At least of what I've seen of him there. He does have a certain mean streak in him and he's willing to fight for the ball which is good.

So yeah, if we put him near Carrick, it'd be great IMO, as long as he's not too expensive.

We've signed Dorian Dervitte, which I think is outstanding. I've seen him play late this season for Lille and seen him play for the France U-18s, where he was particularly outstanding. This may mean we're out of the running for Davies, but Dervitte is awesome.

A bit more on Dorian Dervitte.

We are delighted to announce the signing of France Under-18 captain Dorian Dervitte from Lille.

The transfer is effective from July 1 and he will join up with our development squad at the start of the season.

Dorian made nine appearances for France Under-17s and played in all six of their European Under-17 Championship qualifiers in the 2004-05 season.

He stepped up into the Under-18s this year and played in recent internationals against Germany and Romania.

Sporting Director Damien Comolli commented: “Six foot four Dorian is a tall, strong defender with excellent technical skills. We believe he comes to us with enormous potential for the future.”

Beats Bunji and Bowyer. Anywho, he sounds promising, but there's nothing really to say atm.

Tottenham have signed left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto from French club Lens, subject to a medical.

The 22-year-old has agreed personal terms and Spurs sporting director Damien Comolli said: "Benoit is a young, very talented left-back.

"He's versatile and can play in three positions - left-back, on the left side of central midfield and left midfield.

"He's regarded as one of the best prospects in French football and is an excellent signing for the club."

Comolli added: "The player is ambitious and has always wanted to play in English football.

"He was consistent in his commitment to us in the negotiations we had with Lens despite a lot of interest from other clubs and Lens being reluctant to let him go."

Assou-Ekotto played in 34 of 38 league games to help Lens finish fourth in the French first division last season.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is celebrating the dramatic capture of Michael Carrick after reaching agreement with Tottenham in a deal worth £14 million.

Following high level talks between Old Trafford chief executive David Gill and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy over the last few days, Tottenham are believed to have accepted United's offer for the talented 24-year-old star.

Carrick is currently in Germany as part of Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad and he will join his new United team-mates for pre-season training once a medical and the final negotiations of his package have been finalised.

The move represents a stunning coup for Ferguson who has been scouring the world for a top class young midfielder following the departure of Roy Keane last season.

After checking stars like Deportivo La Caruna's Argentinian Aldo Duscher, fellow countryman Juan Riquelme from Villareal and Lyon's Mamahoud Diarra, Fergie has decided English is best - with Carrick recognised as a burgeoning talent.

Spurs initisally rebuffed United's interest, but with Ferguson adamant the club should push the boat out for Carrick, Gill was given the go-ahead by Florida based owners the Glazers to make Tottenham an offer they couldn't refuse.

That hit £14 million - and Spurs are believed to have said yes to United enabling White Hart Lane boss Martin Jol to recruit a top class replacement.

Carrick came through the West Ham youth academy and starred in the club's FA Youth Cup success in 2000. He made his debut for England against Mexico in 2001 but injuries hampered his progress at international and club level before he sealed a £2.75million transfer to Spurs two years ago. He returned to the England set-up for last summer's tour of the USA and impressed when starting in the friendly success against Uruguay.

... Shit.

Neither is the Spurs site... 4thegame is very reliable though and is barely ever wrong.

I hope you're right though.

We have reached agreement for the transfer of Mounir El Hamdaoui to Dutch team Willem II.

The striker arrived at the Club from another Dutch side, SC Excelsior, in January 2005.

Mounir, 21, had terrible luck in terms of injuries - typified by dislocating his shoulder during what was a promising loan spell in the Championship with Derby County last season – and wanted to return to Holland.

We wish Mounir all the best.
