2013 Summer Transfer Thread

Recommended Posts

I know it's a bit late joining the "Is Wenger Insane?" club but the thought of letting Cazorla go anywhere is mindblowingly stupid. Almost as bad as Chelseal letting Mata go, both by far the best players for their team and only going to get better. Thats hilarious.

Is anyone else getting the feeling that Moyes was brought in to steady the ship without spending anything, which is why the Thiago and Strootman bids didn't go anywhere and why Rooney has been told he will stay?

If so then it's the best news of the transfer window so far :D

The madness continues to spiral into hilarity:

http://metro.co.uk/2013/07/17/manchester-united-fans-react-in-disbelief-at-reports-club-have-turned-down-offer-of-juan-mata-and-10-for-wayne-rooney-3886358/

United fans have been quick to denounce their clubs decision, if indeed the reports are true. One called United’s decision to reject the offer as ‘insane’ while another said the he would be ‘angry and confused if anyone values Rooney as better than Mata’.

Also:

Chelsea confirm that they have made bid for Wayne Rooney but deny that offer included Mata or Luiz. Statement from club shortly ...

Interesting.

Metro just browsing RedCafe I take it, some of them are in meltdown at the idea we rejected cash plus Mata

Seems there's been a bid though, whether it's just cash, fuck knows. Don't personally want Rooney going anywhere.

Chelsea: 'The terms of [Rooney] offer are confidential but for avoidance of doubt ... didn't include transfer or loan of any CFC players'

CFC don't generally comment on anything but I think they know that there is going to be a Chelsea quote about this by the end of the day - whether from Mourinho in his press conference later or otherwise. The only question now is how that quote gets framed - and perhaps this way they will be asking about our interest in Rooney rather than endless "do you really want to sell Mata" questions.

From the bbc website:

Chelsea release a statement regarding Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

The statement says: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm that yesterday it made a written offer to Manchester United for the transfer of Wayne Rooney.

"Although the terms of the offer are confidential, for avoidance of doubt and contrary to what is apparently being briefed to the press in Sydney, the proposed purchase price does not include the transfer or loan of any players from Chelsea to Manchester United."

Oh snap.

What's happened is that Chelsea have opened with 10 + Luiz.

United have been all "lol, no. If you're offering ten and a player, it's gotta be Mata."

Chelsea have returned the "lol, no"

Then they've enjoyed crumpets and lashings of ginger beer.

Honestly Linekles and Rafa do I have to do all your work here!?

Let's say Rafa is not the smartest student of 'em all, and he is studying in vacations as punishment.

Seeing Rooney playing for another PL team would suck. He's got just as much chance of English and European success with us than with Chelsea.

If United did somehow get Mata in return, that'd be nice, although their sudden interest in Spanish midfielders is a surprise, possibly down to Moyes. Can't really say it's a bad thing.

Sky are saying Woodward flying back for the "urgent transfer business" is nothing to do with Rooney. Potential incoming transfer? :w00t:

Either that or he's just trying to get the United fans talking about something else.

Hulk to Monaco is not really a surprise. He wants out of Russia and Monaco are the club paying inordinate amounts for all the big names with 3rd party ownership.

According to Sky, Negredo has agreed terms with Man City subject to a medical. Could be a great signing for them.
