Recommend the Manics and Maiden to anyone, good albums from the two.
Prefer the later stuff of the EoDM, "Speaking in Tongues" the highlight of the album.
Bowling for Soup was just awful, couldn't wait for it to end.

17. These Are the Good Times People by Presidents of the United States of America (2008)

Fun fact, there is no band I have ever seen live more times than the Presidents. I've seen them at least six times, though only something like three of those were explicitly for shows where they were the headliners. Where most everywhere else they're just "oh yeah, they did 'Lump,' I didn't know they were still a thing," they're basically beloved cult heroes in Seattle. The funny thing, though, is that I haven't actually listened to an album of theirs from start-to-finish since those '90s ones, so I picked this one up.

Ultimately, they're kind of like The Ramones in that you pretty much know exactly what all the songs on the album are going to sound like. The Presidents have barely evolved their style at all since their mid-'90s fame; the songs are still mostly upbeat, fast-paced, and and frequently about quirky shit like bugs and balloons and so on. They do diverge from that on the final track, "Deleter," where there's suddenly a horn section and a female guest vocalist and it's a really cool divergence from the norm. But there's nothing wrong with the norm with PUSA, really. Just more songs for me to be reasonably familiar with the inevitable next time I see them live.

Best Track: "More Bad Times" is actually a cover of a folk song by a band out of the Northeast, and it's a really good one. They flip the lyric structure (in the Ed's Redeeming Qualities version, the chorus comes first) and give it more of a bittersweet tinge.

A trio of recent hip-hop albums. I ran across Kidnapped after hearing the guy on Sirius Thursday night, doing some freestyles and dropping a solid new track. Lupe's new album is fair, but it is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too long. I probably can't listen to this one in one shot, and should of been broken into two albums (or CDs) to make it easier to digest. Joey Badass is pretty good, would have been top five in hip-hop if it came out last year. It clocks in at over an hour as well, but it isn't as grueling as Lupe's shit.

An Awesome Wave had a lot of good stuff, recommend it to anyone.
From what I've gathered, a lot of Foster the People fans prefer Torches to Supermodel but I think the later album is the better one. The singles are probably the best thing on the album.
Everyday Robots was so boring, yawn.
Would have preferred more tracks similar to Uptown Funk in Uptown Special but In Case of Fire and Crack in the Pearl are some lovely tracks.
The EWB Eurovision winners! Loved the vocals, a great duo and highly recommend it for every track being pretty great.
Echo Benji for the review of Fall Out Boy, hit it out of the park.

I agree with you that Supermodel's singles are the best part of the album. I do think though that Torches is the better complete album, as I can't think of a bad song on it. Not that any tracks on Supermodel are bad, but it's kinda forgettable. As an aside, they were a bit disappointing live.

Thought the debut album of Gorillaz was the best to come from the band, a lot more interesting than Demon Days and the disappointment that was Plastic Beach. "Clint Eastwood", "Tomorrow Comes Today", "Sound Check" and "Rock the House" were good tracks. Albarn should do something different again.
Decent album from Rainbow, "Man on the Silver Mountain", "Sixteenth Century Greensleeves" and "Catch the Rainbow" all great but something feels missing from the album. It all seems to click by the time that "Rainbow Rising" was released, which is a quality album.
We are the Night was okay, has a good string of tracks from "All Rights Reversed" to "The Salmon Dance" but felt the album began to drag after those ended and it ended a bit meekly, so to say.

I just can't get with electronica-inspired Franz Ferdinand. Hard to begrudge them trying shit but most of the songs on this one alternate between grating (see: "Ulysses," where Alex Kapranos is schticky as hell) or boring (see: "Lucid Dreams" which has a running time of eight thousand years). I think I might enjoy songs from this album if I heard them live because, hey, dancing and shit, but though a set of headphones it all feels so drawn out and weirdly unengaging.

Best Track: "No You Girls" is a cop-out even though it is the actual best track. But like my second-favorite was "Katherine Kiss Me" and then that's mostly just a reprise of "No You Girls" through a different lens. Oh well, whatever. Moving on.
