189. MC5 - Kick Out the Jams
190. MC5 - High Times
191. Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream
192. Agent Orange - Living in Darkness (Reissue)
Man, Kick Out the Jams was a great album, it's hard not to get caught up with the energy and power. The title track, "Borderline", "Motor City is Burning", "I Want You Right Now" and "Starship" are brilliant and the picks of the album. One of the best protopunk/punk listens from the list so far.
I feel like the energy doesn't pass as well onto a studio album but High Times was good on the whole, although the weakest of MC5 that I have listened to. "Sister Anne", "Baby Won't Ya", "Miss X", "Future/Now" and "Over and Over" are the best tracks.
I actually enjoyed Empire of the Sun's album more than I thought I would. Thought it quite similar to Daft Punk meets MGMT, weirdly. The first half is certainly stronger with "Standing on the Shore", "Walking on a Dream", "Half Mast", "We are the People" but the second half did have "The World" and "Without You", that are quite lovely.
Agent Orange had a pretty good album although I felt that the reissue, that doubled the length of the album, brought the quality down. "Bloodstains", "Too Young to Die", "The Last Goodbye", "Cry for Help in a World Gone Mad", "Pipeline", "Living in Darkness" and "El Dorado" are all great tracks.

22. No Cities to Love by Sleater-Kinney (2015)

I held off on listening to this until I had already set off on the road down to San Francisco where I'd be seeing them live for the first of two times in a single week. I think with albums so long after a band breaks up/goes on indefinite hiatus the first album back has a bit of a "we're trying to remember how we used to sound" feel, or you have to grade it on a curve. That is in nooooo way the case for No Cities to Love which is pretty much just hot fire from track one ("Price Tag") on. Like, they're all good. It actually might be the most hook-heavy Sleater-Kinney album I've ever heard, I've had random tracks from it popping up in my head at work for days now. Well done.

Best Track: Oh dude it is so "Surface Envy." Pretty much everything I want in a The Band Is Back Together anthem.

22. No Cities to Love by Sleater-Kinney (2015)
23. Glean by They Might Be Giants (2015)

What the fuck is going on with 2015? There's been an embarrassment of riches as far as bands I really love putting out new stuff or albums that are aimed directly at me coming out, and I haven't even listened to the new stuff by Blur and The Sonics yet. Glean is the continuation of TMBG's renaissance in recent years, following Join Us and Nanobots and landing somewhere inbetween the two in terms of accessibility and sheer weirdness/eccentricity, respectively. It's sort of like their first couple albums; a lot of experimentation in terms of musical genres ("Music Jail Parts 1 & 2" sounds like oom-pah music, for fuck's sake) and oblique subject matter turning into something engagingly weird.

Best Track: "Let Me Tell You About My Operation" is They Might Be Giants playing with big band/jazz sound and that's always a good look for them. A close second is "Erase," though, which is probably the most straightforward "this is a single off a TMBG record" track on the album.

1. If You Wait by London Grammar.

2. This Is All Yours by Alt-J

3. So Long, See You Tomorrow by Bombay Bicycle Club

4. For All My Sisters by The Cribs

5. Cheeky For A Reason by The View ( :shifty: Fucking random numbers)

Loving London Grammar's album, lot of great songs on there. Quality drops in the middle but rises again from the Disclosure collaboration onwards. They've got a great ear for a cover ("Nightcall" and "Wicked Game") and I've got so much love for the lead singer's voice, great range. Favourite songs are "Strong", "Wasting My Younger Years" and "Help Me Lose My Mind".

Only real highlight to me of Alt-J was "Every Other Freckle". Rest just sounded like a band trying to create a movie score while showing off how many exotic instruments they owned, music which fades into the background.

Cannot remember a goodamn thing about Bombay Bicycle Club, just passed straight over me. Only thought I remember having was that Two Door Cinema Club are definitely the better club.

Only song that stood out to me on For all My Sisters was "City Storms". Everything else reminds me of crappy indie I would have been into in 2004/2005 but now just sounds dated. Doesn't help I've never been a fan of the lead singer's voice, kinda grating.

With the View, it's all quite pleasant for the most part but it all sounds so familiar. Sometimes the vocals have that lilting quality Amy McDonald has. "Hole in the Bed" is a proper ripoff of the Fratellis. There's Pigeon Detectives-style shouted backing vocals on every track. Most tracks end with pounding drums and one line being repeated again and again. "Lean On My World" was nice though.

Next 10:

6) Streets In The Sky by The Enemy
7) Too Much Information by Maximo Park
8) Slipway Fires by Razorlight
9) We Met At Sea by Pigeon Detectives
10) Education, Education, Education & War by Kaiser Chiefs
11) Sequel to the Prequel by Babyshambles
12) The Subways by The Subways
13) Wicked Nature by The Vines
14) Comedown Machine by The Strokes
15) Mosquito by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
All praise the Vines for breaking the British indie cycle I was stuck in!

The Presets released a pretty boring electronic album, nothing inspiring and a lot of tracks that could've been skipped/did nothing for me. I was fond of "Ghosts" as it was on a FIFA game while "It's Cool", "Push" and "Fail Epic" were decent.
Raw Power was a brilliant album, definitely the pick of this set of albums. "Search and Destroy", "Penetration", "Raw Power", "I Need Somebody", "Shake Appeal" and "Death Trip" were great.
I think the quality wasn't as good on The Stooges' debut album but had some good tracks in "1969", "Real Cool Time" and "Little Doll". I really liked the slower, kind of psychedelic songs such as "We Will Fall" and "Ann" a lot more though.
In my opinion, Rage Against the Machine's greatest asset comes in the riffs and jams. I can leave the whole "URGH fuck the system URGH URGGGGH". "Bombtrack", "Take the Power Back", "Bullet in the Head", "Wake Up" and "Fistful of Steel" made a fairly good album.
The Germs were good, not my favourite from the punk thread but I can see why others would be a fan. "Communist Eyes", "Strange Notes", "Manimal", "We Must Bleed", "Let's Pretend" were worth a listen but "Shut Down (Annihilation Man)" was the pick of the album.
I liked AJJ's album. "Rejoice", "Survival Song", "Bad Bad Things", "People II: The Reckoning" and "Personal Space Invader" were the best songs. It's a band that I would like to look more into.

I've only just seen this and I love the premise. Not sure if everyone is doing albums they've never listened to before or just any album they listen to but I reckon I'll do ones I haven't heard before.

So by pure chance I've started off pretty similar to Benji. Saw Maroon 5 on Chatty Man last night and realized I hadn't listened to the new album.

I've only just seen this and I love the premise. Not sure if everyone is doing albums they've never listened to before or just any album they listen to but I reckon I'll do ones I haven't heard before.

Listener's choice. I made it all albums I hadn't listened to, but I'm in the final third and forcing myself to keep doing it.

203. Run the Jewels - Run the Jewels
204. New York Dolls - Too Much Too Soon
The New York Dolls were great, lot of good songs on the album with "Looking for a Kiss", "Vietnamese Baby", "Frankenstein (Orig)", "Trash", "Bad Girls", "Private World" and "Jet Boy". I wasn't too enthusiastic for Too Much Too Soon, it could have been better, had the potential. "Babylon", "(There's Gonna Be a) Showdown", "Puss 'n' Boots", "Chatterbox" and "Human Being" are the picks of the album.
Chvreches surprised me, thought at first it would be as bad as the Presets were but ended up enjoying it. "The Mother We Share", "We Sink", "Gun", "Tether", "Science/Visions" and "You Caught the Light" were good.
Knife Man was pretty emotional at times and clever at others. I thought it was better than People Who Eat People, thought it is close. "Gift of the Magi 2: Return of the Magi", "American Tune", "Back Pack", "Hate, Rain on Me", "People II: Still Peoplin'" and "Free Bird" were good but the closing track "Big Bird" was the definite pick. Fairly mixed on Andrew Jackson Jihad's first album. had some hits but a greater number of misses. I liked "Cigarette Song", "Jesus", "God Made Dirt", "Lady Killer" and "Dylan Cook's Love Song".
Started to understand the hype behind Run the Jewels with their debut album. The title track, "Banana Clipper", "36" Chain", "Sea Legs", "Get it" and "No Come Down" would be my picks.
