Dead Rising 4

Being released tomorrow. Anybody picking this up?

Could easily wait for a price drop on this one but meh, it's one of the Xbox exclusives (albeit timed) I actually enjoy.

I had it pre-ordered....but some of the stuff I was reading on it just turned me off from the game. It moved further and further away from what the game used to be. I'll get it when it's cheap.

The last one I played was 2, and this seems quite similar. Not expecting the graphics, gameplay or story to be GOTY worthy, but it should be a fun game.

It will be fun, I am sure....but better at a $20 or $30 price instead of $80. Maybe by then they'll have the mission timers back in.

I think I read something about the mission timers being in the DLC/season pass?

Either way, it's not something that bothers me. One review said it had some fun collectibles (no idea about the purpose they serve) so to be on a timer whilst also searching for these would annoy me.

Which is bullshit to me, since the timer was a core element of the older games. It actually made the game a challenge.

 

Now it seems more like  'see how many ways you can kill zombies' type of game.

I did read that it didn't pose much of a challenge, but meh, I'll give it a go. Plus if it's meant to be quite easy, Baddarina will enjoy it.

And also any carnage you create no longer disappears from the screen. Once you kill something, it stays there.

The timer was more and more pointless as each game went on - in Dead Rising 3 I didn't even notice it to be honest, so I'd rather it be removed and used as an added challenge mode later on.

I haven't read a whole deal on it as to not spoil myself to much but stuff like the lack of timer does put me off. Smacks of giving in to the filthy casuals like when they put save anywhere into 3.

Still, @Baddar you can play multi with me, Kaney and Larz!

No multiplayer story though @King Kevin McCellister, although I've been meaning to use the free gold they've been offering me.

Yeah, that's another thing that's put a lot of people off. I mean, I think they've had co-op story in everything bar like the first one and Case Zero so it's something people have come to expect. Not something I'm overly fussed on myself as I'm used to just playing solo player in DR. Though, I think I did a little bit of 2 in co-op, played Case West with Kaney. 3 I got way after the fact so don't think anyone had it at that point.

Not entirely sure what the multilayer will actually entail but I'm down to give it a go. I'll be free for a few hours on Friday night from about 8.

I'll be getting it tomorrow for sure but I'm the same as Ellis, removing the timer is such a bad idea. I think it's one of the things that set it apart from any other random zombie game, even with how lax it was in DR3 it was still there. Bah. Don't know what else the dlc is but I don't fancy paying for a season pass if it's just timers & multi stuff.

Having fun with this! On Case 2 at the moment and I'm level 24 I think. Some great weapon combinations already.

Sooo I am messing around the mall in case 1 and at that hotel a door is missing but I got a key I need to use behind that WALL

Finished Case 2 before coming off. Played just shy of 5hrs so not a bad session on it at all.
