A Festivus For The Rest Of Us

I don't know why, but this just popped in to my head. If you could hold a music festival for a day this year, what bands would you sign if you had pick of the litter? Keep in mind about clashes, and genres. Also make sure the bands are still together as of today. Mine would be as follows:

Aerosmith | Mötley Crüe

Papa Roach | Velvet Revolver

Avenged Sevenfold | Buckcherry | Towers of London

Hardcore Superstar | Eighteen Visions | Bullets & Octane

Yes, we've done this a lot, but tastes fluctuate, and it's still cool to do, especially because I borderline orgasm at the thought of the punk-rock tent every time I do it. :shifty:

Because I'm a sad bastard ¬_¬ I've tried to put them in a realistic order, with stuff that would gel being put together. The 'rock' stage looks somewhat like a clusterfuck though. :shifty:

MAIN - ROCK STAGE

AEROSMITH

JAMIROQUAI

MUSE

Dream Theater

Placebo

Bad Religion

Jimmy Eat World

Brand New

Modest Mouse

Freak Kitchen

MAIN - INDIE STAGE

...THE LIBERTINES :shifty:

ARCTIC MONKEYS

BLOC PARTY

The Arcade Fire

Maximo Park

Death Cab For Cutie

The Decemberists

Rooney

The Weakerthans

Of Montreal

Beirut

PUNK ROCK STAGE

PENNYWISE

RISE AGAINST

Strung Out

Against Me!

Propagandhi

Death By Stereo

A Wilhelm Scream

Strike Anywhere

Ignite

The Falcon

The Draft

Authority Zero

'ACOUSTIC' TENT

JOSE GONZALEZ

GET CAPE WEAR CAPE FLY

SUFJAN STEVENS

Ben Gibbard (DOUBLE DUTY~!)

Chuck Ragan

Jeremy Enigk

Erik Mongrain

Afterburner/Joey Cape

The New Amsterdams/Matt Pryor

Chris McCaughan (aka. Sundowner)

'ELECTRO' KIND OF SHIT

THOM YORKE

ZERO 7

Lemon Jelly

!!!

LCD Soundsystem

Peeping Tom

DnTel

Styrofoam

Aqueduct

Electric President

If I thought about it properly I could probably do better. :shifty:

Going off the original format though (And stick with the 'realistic order'), I'd love something like this;

The Arctic Monkeys | Muse

Dream Theater | Jamiroquai

Rise Against | Zero 7 | Death Cab For Cutie

Rooney | Freak Kitchen | Strung Out

Iron Maiden | Judas Priest

Dio | Testament

Blind Guardian | Savatage | Iced Earth

Skyclad | Axxis | Pink Cream 69

Not in order of preference, but an order I could realistically see these bands billed. Angel Dust would have definitely been on the list, but I suppose they are not really that active anymore. At least not with Dirk Thurisch. Savatage is probably the same, but replace them with Chris Caffery if you want to nitpick.

Muse | The Arcade Fire

LCD Soundsystem | Lupe Fiasco

!!! | Menomena | Saul Williams

Of Montreal | White Rabbits | Charlotte Gainsbourg

And that, kids, would be the least attended festival in world history. >_>

I can't be arsed to format it like everyone.

If I was doing a more heavy metal festival, it would look something like this:

Opeth

Emperor (meh, they still do festivals and the occasional gig)

Neurosis

In Flames

My Dying Bride

Isis

Cult Of Luna

Paradise Lost

Cephalic Carnage

If I was doing something which was more rock/alternative, it'd be:

Tool

Jesu

Deftones

Porcupine Tree

Billy Talent

Reuben

Amplifier

The Bronx

Carnival In Coal

Queens Of The Stone Age | Gnarls Barkley

Arctic Monkeys | Black Star

Armin van Buuren | DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist | Gogol Bordello

The Long Blondes | Something For Kate | Rilo Kiley | Sway DeSafo

Keeping it to such a short list is hard, especially when you want to keep it realistic.
