  1. That's pretty much why I'm anti-Blue-Ray. Plus, its not exactly a great selling point when we don't know whether Blue-Ray or HD-DVD will be the future. If HD-DVD becomes more popular, Blue-Ray won't mean jack shit. And for the record, regarding Drifer_2000's comments about PS2s and different disk formats not working: The only DVD players I have at all are my PS2 (which is hooked up to a tv that is only used for my PS2 - its not hooked up to receive tv stations) and the one on my computer. I usually use the PS2 instead of the computer to watch DVDs (however, I only watch stuff I've burned to a CD on the computer) and I've never had a problem with it playing any type of disks that its supposed to in all the time I've had it, which is about 4 years or so.
  2. Really thought we'd see Shawshank fighting for the first position (maybe as low as 3rd). Not matter what movies you usually like, it seems everyone loves Shawshank redemption (and for good reason!).
  3. You've got to be shitting me. You think the mortal combat games are better than the tekken games? Thats laughable. The tekken games are actually much more techinical and complex and deeper then any and all of the Mortal Kombat games. Let me guess, you're just in it for the blood and gore right? Only someone who knows jack shit about tekken would even say that its gameplay engine is crap. I can actually back up my arguement if you'd like. For the love of God, no no no no no. I hate it when people fucking say that. That's what the haters see when they look at MK. It has solid gameplay, superb audio soundtrack, interesting characters (mainly the early ones), and an engaging storyline. The violence isn't even one of 5 favorite things in MK. MK's gameplay is ok at best. It's usually full of so much cheese and lacks real depth in its system. Ground game? Nope, juggles? very very limited. Throws? No where near as good as tekkens or VFs. Tech traps? Nonexistant (as far as I remember there is no tech rolling in MK games, last one I played was DA or the one after that). The AI is just flat out bad. MK AI has always been a perfect example of If-then-else programming. When it comes to pure depth in how well the fighting system is designed, MK doesn't deserve to be even mentioned in the same breath as tekken.
  4. w00t To Star Trek Voyager getting there. Damn good show. Hopefully TNG makes the list...TNG is the ultimate Star Trek series (well the later episodes, the first couple of seasons or so are really bad....Like TOS bad.)
  5. Gymnastics is a choreographed athletic display, and thats a sport. Ahhhh.......
  6. Fawlty Towers......awesome X-Files........damn good CSI: Miami: ugggh! I can't stand CSI shows. And I'm guessing theres more coming up. Never heard of The Mighty Boosh, and Have I got News For You.
  7. Well I couldn't be fucked going to work today, and I had been been drinking heavily last night, so I decided to call up sick. (Gotta love being the first one to work, so when you call up you leave your message on the answering machine, instead of actually having to talk to anyone). Anyways I was going through our PVR and had noticed that my flatmate had recorded something off ESPN. I was bored, so I thought why-not see what the fuck it was........and It was the glorious sport of .........Dominos. I mean what the hell? I know it's a strategic game, and one loved by nerds......but It's not a sport. Why the fuck was Domino's doing on sport channel. Anyways needless to say, I thought fuck it, went out and had a cone and watched some interesting games of dominos. It is particually interesting stoned. I'm also going to have to ask my flatmate why he recorded dominos of all things on the PVR. Anyways what other sports gems have you guys found on ESPN? It seems daytime ESPN watching is full of the weirdest 'sports' known to man. (Note: This was filmed on ESPN International, as thats the feed we get here in NZ)
  8. I probably wasn't too clear, I was giving Half-Life 2 as an example of a game that DID have good gameplay. I loved it. I do have to concede to the KotoR thing though, yeah.. that wasn't an FPS
  9. It doesn't need to be fiction, an entire series is a grey area, though, admittedly, and I don't think I'll allow it. If someone *has* voted an entire series, I'll check if anyone else has voted for a specific book from said series and just add it in as another vote for that, I suppose. My reasoning for that is someone could vote for something like the Discworld series, which is a huge amount of books, and they're not at all representative of one another, if you get my meaning.
  10. 01) Bram Stoker - Dracula 02) J.R. Tokien - Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring 03) Mick Foley - Have A Nice Day 04) Anne Rice - Interview With The Vampire 05) George Orwells - 1984 06) Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - The Hound of The Baskervilles 07) Agatha Christie - Murder on the Orient Express 08) Douglas Adams - The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy 09) George Orwell - Animal Farm 10) Mick Foley - Foley Is Good
  11. EDIT: gah, ignore this post....didn't see post's below the list (I don't know how I could have missed them; but they weren't on my version of the thread)
  12. using my other list....Ranking them and getting rid off 5 is going to be fun. 01) Buffy The Vampire Slayer 02) Angel 03) Dr. Who 04) House 05) Red Dwarf 06) Babylon 5 07) Star Trek; The Next Generation 08) The Simpsons 09) Saved By The Bell (original series) 10) MASH
  13. Well when there's (example) 100 shows with 1 vote each, 50 shows with 2 votes each, 25 shows with 3 votes each, 15 shows with 4 votes each, 10 shows with 5 votes each, 4 shows with 6 votes each, 4 shows with 8 votes each and 1 show with 10 votes, it's kinda hard to do a "Top (Insert # Here) List", since #'s 2,3,4,5 all have same # of votes.
  14. Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas.........w00t...I love that movie. Donnie Darko's good too. Not to impressed with the 40 year old virgin, but I'll deal.
  15. Well this will be interesting (although this has only been confirmed by a tabloid yet, and quite a few people are questioning its legitimacy)
  16. W00t, don't get to see them then, but not much after. They are coming to Christchurch, New Zealand on January 9th......syked am I.
