  1. No; that'll just stop football altogether!
  2. The Meat Loaf/Jim Steinman albums died, when I got a leaked version of Bat Out Of Hell III . I'll review the last two albums, and Bat Out Of Hell III, when I get a decent version and not a crappy net-release. Oh and I recently got some DragonForce, so that'll get reviewed at some point....lol. Without further ado, just one review today: 8 Foot Sativa's Season For Assault 9/10 With the new's that the original bassist has left 8 Foot Sativa, because he "wasn't having fun anymore", I thought I would review the only 8 Foot Sativa album I haven't reviewed. This so happens to be my favourite 8 Foot Sativa album (Well Breed the Pain is a close second). Sam Sheppard joined the band, on drums on this album giving this album the lineup that most people accept as the ultimate 8 Foot Sativa lineup (Jackhammer/Gary Smith/Brent Fox/Sam Sheppard). Sam gives a noticably better drum sound than Peter Young, and it really adds to the sound of this album. This is highly evident in the bonus track on this CD which is the "Hate Made Me" song minus Pete Young's drum track plus Sam Sheppards drum track, and It really just sounds 100% better. Jackhammers vocals have increased 5000% as well, and this album doesn't have the garage-metal feel of Hate Made Me. Add in songs, that once you hear you just can't stop playing in your head, and you've got a classic of an album. If you haven't heard 8 Foot Sativa before, this is the album you wanna hear. Tracks to look out for: Escape From Reality, For Religions to Suffer, Destined to be Dead, Season For Assault & Chelsea Smile Tracks to perhaps skip: Slight skippage maybe on The Abused

STP - Core STP - Thank You (nice greatest hits album) ZZ Top - Mescalero Slayer - got quite partial to the new "Christ Illusion" Of course the classic Tool "Lateralus" Now Meat Loaf, where to get me started: * Bat out of Hell II: Back Into Hell * Dead Ringer * Blind Before I Stop * Couldn't Have Said it Better And if you're getting it from dodgy suppliers get the leaked "Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose", its damn good. Hope thats a bit of help.

  9. A couple of famous NZ exports. These movies should be avaliable in your country. Anyways here we goes: Scarfies 8/10 A Weed-based movie that isn't a comedy. Well it starts out comedy like, but takes a very dark turn. 5 student's squating in an abandoned house, in NZ's famous "student shithole" Dunedin, found a stash of marijuanna stuffed in the basement. They decide to sell the dope and life the good life, but things change when the owner of the dope comes back ready to harvest the stash. A suprisingly good movie, and show's a massive amount of "scarfie" culture (the culture of the dunedin students, is infamous in New Zealand). I'd suggest tracking down this movie and watching it. Espically students. The Locals 7/10 New Zealand's attempt at a supernatural thriller is a very so-so affair. It's definatly a good watch, but not something that you are going to buy on DVD (unless your me who bought the DVD sight unseen ). This movie is full of New Zealand actors who any New Zealander will recognize, and even a few from Shortland St (It seems that every New Zealand actor goes on the daily soap "Shortland Street" at some point). It also contains quite a bit of music from New Zealand rocker's Blindspott, and New Zealand metaller's 8 Foot Sativa, as the director of all their videos is also the director of this move. Mildly suggest if your bored.
  10. On the road to "Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster is Loose", I am going to review the three Jim Steinman/Meat Loaf collaberation albums (Bat Out Of Hell, Dead Ringer, Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell). For interest sakes The Bat Out of Hell, and Dead Ringer albums are being reviewed from the Vinyl versions, whereas I haven't been able to get hold of a vinyl version of Bat II, so thats the CD version. Unfortunatly Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster is loose, isn't going to be like these albums, as only half the songs are written by Jim Steinman, and Steinman isn't producing the album. Meat Loaf even took legal action against Steinman in an attempt to use the Bat Out Of Hell trademark. As part of the settlement, Steinman can't even say anything negative about the album. To read more click here. Anyways on to the first review (the other two will follow in the next few days) Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell 10/10 To most people, this would be the quindesential Meat Loaf album. It introduced the world to the very operatic wagnerian rock that Jim Steinman wrote. It was a break from most of the glam rock of the time, to have a sweaty fat man belting out heart-wrenching tunes, which would go upwards of 8 minutes. This album is written by Jim Steinman, but unlike the other two albums, is produced by legend Todd Rundgren. Seeing as these are my favourite albums from my favourite artist I'm going to break it down into a song by song break down. : Bat Out Of Hell (9:52): This song starts off the epic journey that is this album with some impressive keyboard work, and some impressive guitar work til we hear the first from Meat 2 minutes in. As Jim Steinman explains this song by saying it is the ultimate motorcycle crash song. And slowly building up to the impact you can definatly see this. All through this song the pace suddenly changes, but your building into the great creschendo until he never sees the sudden curves Til it's way to late. This album is the ultimate Meat Loaf album, and this song is the ultimate Meat Loaf song. You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (Hot Summers Night)(5:06): We start with with the often repeated "would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?" spiel from Jim Steinman, before the opening licks of this song starts. This song is a personal favourite of mine, because It reminds me of my first Kiss (this song was infact playing at the time). Has the ultimate audience sing along part, which is awesome to do Live at a Meat Loaf concert (something I have had the pleasure of doing). Heaven Can Wait (4:42): A very slow meandering piano accompanys Meat on this song. This track has very little instrumental backing, and you can really hear Meat's amazing voice come through. I have stated to many of my friends that I want this song to be played at my funeral. Amazing beautiful song. All Revved up With No Place to Go (4:21): The only track on the album that isn't an instant classic. This track sounds like it has a very strong idea of where it wants to go, but never really gets there. Nevertheless has some amazing saxophone playing accompaning Meat's voice. Two Out of Three Aint Bad (5:27): Everyone knows this track. It has been covered by everyone under the sun. The slightly country, soft rock classic. No one does this song better than Meat Loaf. Meat has said on many occasions that he's an actor, he acts out the song, and you defianatly can pick up on this on this track. He feels the emotion of this track, he is the emotion of this track. Paradise by The Dashboard Light (8:30): If Bat Out Of Hell is the ultimate motorcycle crash song, this is the ultimate teenage car-sex song. Ellen Foley does the duet with Meat, but if you see the video the person used for onstage performances is Karla Devito. This song is broken up two three chapters. The first chapter "Paradise" involves the two going on a drive, parking up, and Meat trys to push the idea of sex. Then we get Phil Rizzuto broadcasting a portion of a baseball game that serves for a metaphor for Meat's attempts. The second chapter starts with Ellen Foley shouting "Stop Right There". Anyways I've started telling you the story of the song instead of how good the song is. Needless to say its an amazing, and painful song with lots of twists and turns. It really is just an epic song. For Crying Out Loud (8:55): This, in my opinion, is the most beautiful and amazing song on the album. It takes the premise of a man sitting at his wife's grave and just thanking her for everything in his life, and everything that she has done for him. It's a very chilling song, and always puts goosebumps on my back. It would be one of my top three Meat Songs, if not number 1. Instead of talking about it, I'll give you a little snippet of the lyrics to tell you what I'm talking about: Well that raps up my review of Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell. I apologize I don't know much about music, and how to describe It, but I know what I like, and I love this album. If you haven't got this album get it, and if you do have it put it on now. To put into small terms how big this album is, here's a paragraph from Wikipedia about this album: And over the next week or so I'll review the other two Steinman/Meat albums waiting for the Oct 31st release of "Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster is Loose"
  11. It is indeed awful, and this is from a man who has actually bought Robbie Williams albums before. A note for Robbie, instead of trying to sell out to the 'hip' crowd, just be happy selling albums to Mums and the like. I'm sure it will still make you a lot of money.
  12. Disturbed did a concert down here in Christchurch, New Zealand about 6 months ago I went to. It was a decent concert, espically that I absolutely love the band that opened them (local act, Redline), and didn't think Disturbed could live up to them, but they did a suprisingly good set. I wasn't really a fan previous to the concert, but after the concert I had a grown amount of respect for them. I only have two complaints about the concert: (1) This one really has nothing to do with the band, but the Pit fucking sucked. Teenie-Boppers everywhere, so I pushed my way to the front to get away from them, and found more teenie-boppers. One guy to the side of me actually cried when he got a big hit in the Pit. It's like don't come to the front of the pit, if your not ready to get hurt. And everyone was getting the security guard over the D-fence to keep giving them water every two seconds. Harden-up guys. (2) At one point David stopped the music to tell us to look after the girls who decided to mix it up in the mosh. Said this line somewhere through it: "I know all of us here are red-blooded americans, but yadda yadda yadda". Know what country you are in, and the fact that its not part of America. Hell the 12 or so hour flight from America, should have clued you in that you were no longer in the USA. But minus these two points, the Concert was really good.
  13. And Metallica on number one. Aint nothing wrong with that guys. I think we all accept its for music past, and not music present. Oh and I won't post my list, but that puts me on 8/10 of my list making the Top 100. I am just a EWB mainstream whore:P.
  14. Well I quite enjoy this review thing, so I'm gonna do a few more of the next few days....lol. If you don't like them just go to the next post. Today is going to be a classic, I have once again by going through my Dad's cd collection and ripping them onto my computer (FLAC all the way baby!). Got about 30cds....all up...lol. Anyways without further ado: The Beatle's Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 10/10 Well this is my first ten out of ten given out and I don't think that many people will disagree with me. I will admit I'm not a big beatle's head, but I know this album through my dad playing it non-stop when I was growing up, and it definatly deserves its position in the greatest albums of all time. Hell even growing up at my primary school we had to sing "When I'm sixty-four" in every assembly for about 10 years. It's seems very basic, but infact has some very elaborate arrangements. It's also full on explicit and not-so explicit drug references which is never a bad thing . (Including the obvious "Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds" which for years John Lennon said had nothing to do with LSD, but in 2004 McCartney said in an interview that, that might not be the case). I can't saw much more than wow, and I'm sure most people would agree with me. If you by chance have never heard this album I have one thing to say to you: Get your hands on it in one way or another. It will suprise you. I am definatly going to go on a venture to find more from the beatle's discography. Tracks to look out for: I'm am serious, when I say all! Tracks to perhaps skip: nil
  15. Chinese Democracy will come out the day that Duke Nukem Forever does. If I was axl id change the name of the album, because of the negative opinion people already have of the album. But then I guess it's also a good thing, coz contereversy equals sales.
  16. One thing when I buy a CD though, is that it's straight home and a FLAC version onto my computer. My computer is my home of music, and I hate changing discs, et cetera.
  17. Through the power of the internet....I bring you reviews on the first five episodes of...... STAR TREK: THE ANIMATED SERIES Now you hear trekkies always running down TAS as absolutely crap, So I had to get my hands on it to see if it was true. And what I found is that I really enjoyed it. Anyways on with the first 5 episode reviews (I may spoil episodes, so If you want to watch at sometime unspoiled skip my reviews): Episode #01 Beyond the Farthest Star - 6/10 Well the whole show did start off with a crappy episode. We see the first of the life support belts, which is just Filmation's way of not having to draw big suits over the characters. Anyways a entity they find on a abandoned pod ship takes control of the Enterprise, but Kirk outwits it into thinking that he's gonna crash into a star, to make the entity leave. Problem solved. Episode #02 Yesteryear - 8/10 Perhaps on of the best TAS episodes, and one that is still canonical for the Star Trek universe. (Different aspects of different episodes of TAS are canon or noncanon, but the Star Trek highups still count TAS as noncanon). Kirk & Spock are at the "guardian of Forever", but when returning to the Enterprise no one recognizes Spock. It ends up with Spock having to go back in time to help himself pass the Kahs-wan test, and help him decide if he's gonna grow up Vulcan styles, or Human styles. I love this episode, but thats probably because I've got a soft-spot for anything Spock. Episode #03 One Of Our Planets Is Missing - 7/10 The Enterprise gets stuck in a cloud that seems to consume planets. The cloud ends up to be a living thing. Shit unfolds, and Kirk thinks the only way to save the universe is to blow up the ship in his cloud. Why do captains always jump at the chance to go down with their ship. Even when there is no need. In the end a vulcan mindmeld saves the day. Spock always solves all. A nice episode, but in true TAS style, it doesn't fit into the Star Trek style of the day, and even less in the Star Trek style of today. Oh and a fun thing about this episode is that Lieutenant Arex speaks for the first time. In TAS they introduced two aliens on the bridge they could not have in TOS because of their weird look would be a bitch to do in the day. Heres an image of Arex: Episode #04 The Lorelai Signal - 6/10 All the males are attracted to a star away from their mission. Kirk orders them to go there. They beam down, and are under the control of the lorelai woman. All Males on the enterprise go nutty so Uhura takes control of the enterprise and saves the day. I wont ruin most of this story, coz I really found this one too boring to write about to put it bluntly. Only watch if you are going to watch all of them in order. Two major things happen for the first time in this episode: * The First time a female takes charge of a starship in a episode. (Uhura this time) * The first time the transporter is used to heal somebody. Episode #05 More Tribbles, More Troubles - 9/10 Cyrano Jones and those lovable tribbles are back. One of the most fun episodes of TAS. This time they are genetically engineered so they don't multiply, but know they get really big. Klingon's get annoyed at tribbles as usual. Ready to start a fullblown war with the federation to get rid of the pesky things. A must watch episode. This episode saw the first use of the Klingon isignia that is used today I'll post some more reviews as I watch more episodes. There is so much in TAS, that has been used in subsequent Star Trek shows, that even though its not strictly speaking canon, It is a major guide to people writing later Star Trek shows. And they are incredibly fun. I highly suggest any trekkies hunt them down and watch them.
