  1. Well, had you heard of AON before they sponsored United? Deals like this make companies bigger names, if not household ones (in the case of AON, that's probably cos their services don't really appeal to most of the people who are at the game rather than a company like Samsung). It's not hard to see why both Newcastle and prospective companies would be interested in doing this. Hell, I work as a barman for Man Utd and was told the company that provides the wine gives the club something like £10mil over 5 years to be the club's exclusive sponsor. You might not see the point in this, but the clubs certainly do. Football clubs are expensive to run and these sponsorship deals are what keep them competitive.
  2. It creates brand awareness. Seeing a brand logo on the shirt, or hearing Sky Sports call the stadium 'Brand X Arena' helps to make the company a household name, or certainly introduces it to more people than they would have before the branding. Especially with the global nature of football nowadays.
  3. It's a postcode thing isn't it? NW London?
  4. The lack of creativity in England's squad is frightening, especially when you compare it to Spain's. Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Alonso, Mata, Navas, Villa etc. are all just so much better than anyone England has called up.
  5. Is there somewhere I can watch the webseries with Andy and April? The NBC one is saying it's not available in my area (the UK).
  6. Hoillet's contract runs out in the summer so not too long...
  7. Absolutely love the fact the North Stand is now the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand. You could tell watching it just how much it meant to him. The statue is apparently being built by the same guy who did the Busby and Charlton/Best/Law one which is awesome too. Expecting the entire club to be renamed when he reaches 50 years in charge .
  8. I clicked add to basket and the price changed to £29.99 pretty much straight away
  9. I would absolutely love a 5-a-side indoor football game. They had it back on FIFA 97(?) so I'd be happy for it to just be a game mode on a new FIFA.
  10. 10 on Wolves and Man Utd -1 ACC 10 on Bolton/Stoke Draw, Man City, Newcastle ACC GG: Bolton vs. Stoke
  11. Quick Google search says it was "Listen I don't wanna here anything bout I didn't look interested! Everyone can fuck off in don't like it don't follow me!!!!!!!!!!!".
  12. It saddens me to see Berbatov stuck playing Carling Cup football and not getting a look in for any of the other games we play. How he went from top scorer to 4th choice striker so quickly is just amazing. I'm surprised Fergie never took the rumoured £15m bid from PSG when he had the chance. He's doing great today (granted it's Aldershot) so hopefully some first team starts are around the corner for him.
  13. Yeah he might be a good player for that level. Plus it brings in a bit of publicity which is never a bad thing for a club at that level.
  14. From the last line of that Guardian article: "But I don't care what people say about me. I am focused on my football, my manager, girlfriends and my family." I hope to god that using girlfriends in the plural was not a typo or mistake of any sort. It would just add to the legend if he had more than one girlfriend on the go.
  15. Only caught the last 20 minutes or so of the Liverpool game but that was a very entertaining period. For someone who had money on a draw, the Carroll header at the end and then Ruddy's save in the last minute was some tense viewing.
  16. Where's the cheapest place to get this? I'd probably be getting Xbox Live if I end up buying Fifa so hopefully it's cheaper somewhere than the £40 I see everywhere I'm looking.
  17. I hope Wenger takes note of the Arsenal banner that says 'we want Eboue back'.
