  1. Dont know how long the show will last but from what I have seen of Kings I have been interested. Basically a modern day monarchy based on the Biblical story of King David in a place similar to the United States. 4 episodes so far have been aired.
  2. US up 2-0 now with another goal from Altidore. It was a pretty good goal a good cross from Donavon I believe and then Altidore faked the T&T player and put it over the keeper, looks to be 3 points from this game which should be good after tying El Salvador on Sunday in El Salavdor.
  3. US up 1-0 vs. Trinidad and Tobago with the goal coming from Altidore. Defiantly should be more lopsided but the US has missed a couple easy chances hopefully that doesnt come up and bite them in the second half.
  4. From what I remember reading they are putting it to a vote for the team name in Philadelphia and it will be either, AC Philadelphia, SC Philadelphia, Philadelphia Union, or Philadelphia City. And I would be surprised if the Vancouver and Portland teams are called anything else since they both have a bit of history behind them and fans wouldn't be to happy if they changed.
  5. Yeah it looks like Portland is the next expansion team, with that being said it seems like Seattle has a good shot at doing well this season if tonight is any sign of how the team will look. Montero looks like a very good young player and they dont even have there DP at the moment in Fredrik Ljungberg.
  6. Along with that I think that Seattle had one of the top signing this year with Fredy Montero. They are already predicting him to have around 15 goals and he will probably be one of those players that spends a couple years in the MLS and then make the jump to Europe once he proves that he is a pretty good player in the MLS. I really wouldnt be suprised to see Seattle make the playoffs as well they have a good base for the team and if things fall the right way I wouldn't be surprised to see them as one of the top teams in the west.
  7. Didnt want to double post but whatever, it looks like Beckham was able to come to agreement with the Galaxy to extend his loan for 2 months for $10 million! Beckham extends loan We will see if that number is actually correct but if it is I think that it is a great move by the Galaxy, they get a good amount of cash and they also get him back from the last half of the season to help please there season ticket holders and sponsors. Although at this point it remains to be seen if $10 million is the correct figure. It also looks like Donovan is coming back although I wouldn't be surprised to see him get picked up by some other team once the summer window opens. And although Beasley isn't in the MLS right now it seems like he will probably be making a move in the summer with the speculated team being Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga. With that being said the MLS season is now just over 2 weeks away in what I think should be an interesting season with a new potentially good expansion team in Seattle and also seeing how everything shakes out with the galaxy.
  8. Lebron with another big game with 55 points against the Bucks tonight.
  9. Believe what you want but the MLS continues to grow each season and with more and more owning the stadiums they play in they will start to make money and actually be able to increase the talent level of the league which is already happening today. And as for nobody caring about the soccer in the US just look at the ratings for the past World Cups as well as tournaments such as Euro 08 which have started to catch the attention of even the casual fan. Football or soccer whatever you would like to call it has slowly been gaining popularity for years and I dont see any reason why it wont continue to grow in the US with so many areas still untapped.
  10. I understand where you are coming from on the red card when I first saw the play I thought it would just be a yellow but when they showed the other angle in reply it looked like Marquez pretty clearly went in with his studs which will usually get you a red especially against a GK. Like you said a stupid play either way since the US had pretty good control of the game the rest away although there were a couple of hiccups.
  11. Marquez from Mexico with the red card in the 67'. I think it was pretty obvious red IMO Marquez challanged Howard for the ball and went in with his studs and hit Howard in the leg, there was some pushing and shoving between the players with the US players not being to happy with Marquez for obvious reasons. US 2 - Mexico 0 Bradley (43', 90') Bradley scores from a blast from outside the box that probably should have been saved but nonetheless still a good result against Mexico and sets us up well with 3 points at the beginning of WCQ.
  12. US vs Mexico game 1 (Bradley 43') - 0 at halftime Pretty back and forth game so far with Bradley getting the goal off of the corner kick just before half.
  13. Yeah that would be him, he really has come on as the choice at LB recently since no one else really has stepped up and I think he has done a relatively good job and defending and getting up field when needed. And again I dont know if anyone cares but ill post anyways the people that made the bench for the US are : Brad Guzan, Jonathon Bornstein, Marvell Wynne, Danny Califf, Ricardo Clark, Jose Francisco Torres, Jozy Altidore
  14. Dont know if anyone other then HTTK is following the US Mexico game but the projected line up for US for the game looks to be: --------------------Ching-------------------- Beasley----------Donovan--------Dempsey ------------Bradley------Kljestan----------- Pearce----Bocanegra---Onyewu---Hejduk -------------------Howard-------------------- No suprises really Bradley is going with a lineup of players who he knows rather then testing guys right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Altidore to come on in a sub if need. I would say a Win is what most are expecting with a tie not causing to much of a problem for the US in this game. A loss for the first time in a while against Mexico would not be a good way to start off qualifying but wouldnt be a huge problem to overcome being this early in qualifying.
  15. It now looks like the MLS has set a deadline of Friday for a transfer deal of Beckham between the Galaxy and Milan. The MLS is saying that they wont approve a deal anytime after that, this could defiantly throw a wrench into the deal with only a couple more days left for a deal to be completed Although sorta off topic I gotta say that I am really excited about the US - Mexico game tonight in Columbus. I am going to college in northern Ohio so I thought about going to the game but the weather and the price of tickets on my budget wouldn't allow it. Either way I am looking forward at starting the last round of WCQ well with at least some points.
  16. Not exactly a big deal but Toronto FC just signed Pablo Vitti a former U20 player for Argentina that won the tournament in '05. It is to be seen as to weather he pans out but it has been nice to see the MLS go after young South American players rather then continue to throw money at players that may be closer to washed up. Hopefully it is a trend that continues through the off season and in the future. Also for anyone that has been paying attention the rumored asking price that the Galaxy want for Beckham is $22 million, which even though would be the highest transfer paid for a MLS player I think is a good number. He has been in form so far for Milan and losing Beckham would likely cost the Galaxy a good deal in attendance since that was basically there main draw. Compact that with the fact that they will possibly also lose Donovan to Munich and that makes even more sense for them to ask for that much.
  17. Yeah he just made me feel old although I wont deny that is one of the best endings to a football game I have seen. It was amazing to see that Dyson (Titan's player) end only a yard short if that, from making a heartbreaking moment an amazing moment.
  18. Yeah it seems as thought he is being reported as going to San Jose which should allow him to get some playing time as has been mentioned. I believe as HTTK that if Convey is able to show quality again in the next season or so he can head back over to somewhere in Europe again. I think this move will also give him a chance to get back on the radar for the 2010 WC which he has almost completely fallen off of since his playing time has been limited. I defiantly believe that he can be a quality player he just needs to get his confidence back and he should be able to do that in San Jose.
  19. I would say Lebron had a arguably better game going for 10 rebounds and 12 assits while scoring 52 being the first since Kareem to accomplish that. Either way both were historic performance just 2 days apart against the same team on the same court and both great games to watch.
  20. It also does seem like some of the younger talent that went to Europe specifically some of the Scandinavian leagues is choosing to come back and play in the MLS rather then just get paid more overseas. There is also rumors of Convey and Beasley coming back because they just arent playing at all at there respective teams which I would be happy to see. I think a step in the right direction will be in a couple of years when the new Collective Bargaining Agreement is signed which will likely raise the salary cap a couple million dollars. We still wont have the money to compete with the European leagues obviously but I think it will help the league be able to sign more up and coming South American players like they have started to do and also give them the ability to sign some of the US younger talent that is going to Europe to play straight away. Along with that many if not all of the teams will have their own stadiums in the near future which allows the teams to not have to rent out place like Giants Stadium and allow them to actually turn a profit like some of the teams have begun doing.
  21. I thought I would bring back this thread after the hour long episode they had after the Super Bowl for anyone that hasn't seen it just letting you know my post will probably contain spoilers. I think this defiantly my favorite episode this season and was a good episode to air after he game. The whole fire drill at the beginning was hilarious especially with Angela throwing her cat through the ceiling and the CPR class when Dwight cut the face off the dummy had me rolling. I would say that Andy may have had my favorite roast of Micheal along with Pam's Ipod shuffle comment. Many other parts had me laughing out loud and I think the roast at the end of Micheal ripping on the rest of the office was great. The only part that I really didn't like was the movie, it just seemed forced as if they needed a reason to have big guest stars for after the Super Bowl. Other then that as I said it was defiantly one of my favorite episodes in some time and after seeing the previews for what is coming up it should be interesting to see what way that storyline takes.
  22. I dont think that it's a terrible move since it only looks like it will be till the end of the EPL season and I think that the Fire should be able to get along alright without him. I also kinda want to see how this works out with Dempsey coming on recently I have been trying to catch more Fulham games.
  23. Looks like another American might be making their way to Europe with Sacha Kljestan heading to Celtic for a trial this week. It seems like $3.5 million is the figure being discussed for the deal and I think that with some training Kljestan could be a player that could impress.
  24. Just saw this article posted on another basketball board about Eddy Curry and I can only hope it not true but I dont know why the guy that filed the suit is just nuts, Eddy Curry Atleast no matter how the knicks are doing you know they will be entertaining.
  25. Yeah he was a 2 time all ohio WR back in high school but stopped due to dedicating himself to basketball. The photo are apparently about an upcoming commercial(s) that he is doing potentially airing during the superbowl.
