  1. Nice team, I had a look at Premiership players but everyone's incredibly expensive :( How's IF Given? Have you used other GKs to compare him with? I've only had Abbiati and I've just bought De Sanctis so haven't really been able to judge whether the mistakes he's made are down to being shit or just the way GKs are in this game. Next buy will probably be one of Serie A's top GKs (Stekelenburg, Cesar and Buffon all at 85.)

    I've got:

    Forlan - Cavani

    Robinho - Hamsik

    De Rossi - Vidal

    Balzaretti - Samuel - Chiellini - Cassani

    De Sanctis

Bench: Frey, Mexes, Dias, Boateng, Zarate, Cisse, Klose

  2. For UT there's a really good site that tracks the average price of a lot of the players:

    http://www.ultimatedb.nl/

Shiny gold players are worth 650-700 if you quick sell them, so at least that much on the market. Premiership players tend to be worth more. Players that are 74 or 64 rated tend to be worth a bit because they're the best OVR players in the silver and bronze categories. Championship and Brazilian silvers can be worth quite a bit. Anyone who's fast (no matter the rating) is worth more.

  3. I'm happy this thread exists because it allows me to bring up the single worst bit of acting of all time from Troll 2.

"Nilbog is Goblin backwards! This is their kingdom!"

    "Eggs?" "BLEH!"

"You can't piss on hospitality! I won't allow it!"

Seriously for all the love The Room gets here, Troll 2 deserves almost as much.

And that film's also responsible for possibly the best documentary of all time - Best Worst Movie.

  4. UT is being shit tonight. I keep getting disconnected and it seems to happen regularly just after I've completed a match (meaning I get a loss and all my players lose contracts.) I've pretty much played tournaments non-stop since I got the game yesterday and my record's 13-0-15 with at least 6/7 of my losses as disconnections. Already have a trophy in the cabinet though, got 5,600 coins for the final :w00t:

  5. 500 coins in a few hours?! What are you trading? You can get 5k in an hour just trading cheaper kits and badges.

Well, obviously, but the kits don't always come up cheap enough to generate much profit.

I think the most profit I could've made off anything was around 20k, when I bought a Tevez on buy it now for 2k in 2010 - I was building a past/present United team at the time though, so I kept him.

    What I do is this:

    1) Set maximum price to 1,000

    2) Kits and Badges section (don't specify one or the other)

    3) Go through club by club and add anything you can find in the next hour (home/away/badge) that's under 1000 to your watchlist. I look at these clubs:

    Arsenal

    Chelsea

    Liverpool

    City

    United

    Tottenham

    Barcelona

    Madrid

    Inter

    Milan

    4) Don't bid until the last couple of minutes to save on tokens. Don't chase profit because otherwise you end up raising your selling price to avoid taking a loss, tying up your money and wasting your time relisting and relisting.

    5) There are incredibly valuable silver kits that don't come up as often - Celtic, Rangers, Leeds, Seattle Sounders, Swindon.

  6. If Tevez is that desperate to get out he could've told Corinthians, or Inter, or whoever that he'd accept a pay cut so they could offer a higher transfer fee. As it is he didn't and he stayed. And acted like a cunt. Just because he's not as much of a cunt as Joey Barton doesn't change that.

He did, he reportedly accepted wages of 100k/week (less than half what he gets at City) so Corinthians could fund a £40m bid (which is, incidentally, £15m more than City paid for him in the first place.) City refused the deal because they wanted the money up front.

Refusing to work is the same as not turning up for work, which doesn't consitute a sackable offence even if you're working on a production line. This happens in public because his job is performed in public. If I embarrass my employer when I'm in an office job I've fucked up big time. When I'm a professional footballer then it's a facet of my job.

  7. Can't believe the outrage this has provoked. What he did was unprofessional, but no worse contractually than anyone who's ever failed to turn up for work. That's not a sackable offence and neither is this. I know plenty of my good, good friends that have done far worse things in life and I forgive them. I'm sure worse things happen all the time in football. Modric did similar and he doesn't get nearly the vitriol. Bizarre too that he's still accused of money-grabbing despite clearly wanting out of a club that pays the biggest wages in the world to go to a club where he'd earn far less. He's got a huge contract and he still wants to leave. The fact he's getting paid more re-inforces that point, it doesn't weaken it.

To call him a cunt for being unprofessional is totally lacking perspective in an industry where someone can flick a cigar in another player's eye and be widely forgiven because he grows a moustache and plays well. Or where a manager can virtually breach his contract and contribute to the death of a club but be massively praised for being funny in post-match interviews. Reckon if we met and chatted with Tevez we'd find him a lot more of an empathetic character than a bellend like Graeme Souness.

The whole saga is so unfortunate. Showed footage of him arriving yesterday looking miserable while the rest of the team laughed and joked. Then he seemed to spend most of the warm-up with Kidd rather than the players. Compare him to Joey Barton, who deliberately insulted his employer in public and sowed as much discontent as possible in his workplace as possible to get ahead. When Tevez says his head isn't right, it's because he's genuinely unhappy (unlike Modric or Barton who say that to advance their careers.)

  8. And are they doing the same retarded co-op like with the first one, where you have to put down an item and you have no control over who joins your game?

Dunno, but I heard the developers were pissed off at people who were playing it early, so they went into their games with max level characters and wrecked shit up :D

  9. Really looking forward to UT this year! In my loyalty packs I got the 78-rated IF keeper and discarded him for 9.5k, which is apparently roughly what you get for all gold IFs this year. Since I wanted a Serie A team and I got a 4-1-2-1-2 Andre Dias in my packs I've gone for that formation (even though it's ridiculously over-priced.) Guess if I don't like it I can sell up and get quite a bit of profit once the game launches.

Have about 10k left once I can sell all the stuff on my trade pile. Gonna try and get either Forlan or Samuel before shit starts to go crazy once the game launches.

  10. I disliked VATS as well, but there's no fun in just running forwards and backwards pushing one button. At least it was a system with something to do and something to think about rather than just 'Backwards, Forwards, Hit' over and over again.

  11. Yeah, I worded that poorly. What I meant was that Fallout showed that they actually care about combat at all - melee combat was still basic. The VATS system and general attention to the weapons in Fallout is better than the simplistic set-up in Oblivion.
