  1. The images of the men's team sweating through them are awful, I couldn't play in that.

    Starfield

I agree, I am enjoying the game but find the forced menu navigation a bit of a joy-killer. I'm not as into space fights or mining procedurally-generated land areas as this game wants me to be, sadly. My girlfriend went on Fallout yesterday and it reminded me how fun it is to just stumble across random stories or enemies. I definitely haven't been able to do that in Starfield outside of the few cities you go around.
  3. Donny and Everton winning on the same day, this is exceptionally rare.
  4. I knew when I went to bed and the Cards had a 20 point lead that I should still be worried. Of course. They better beat out the Bears and the Texans for the #1 pick. Because that is clearly what this team are after.
  5. What a great race to watch. Loved seeing the differing strategy play out for the first 2/3s of the race, and then that mad dash to the finish which ultimately led to Russell crashing was fascinating. It helped that Red Bull were driving around in treacle for a lot of it and were never in contention for the win. It also really helps that my man Carlos won it.
  6. Good grief, Soccer Saturday is a difficult watch today. I don't know if it's a new thing but Merson and Sherwood are both commentating on their old clubs, and they have both been interminable. I mean, yes it is well known how much of an imbecile Sherwood is, but Jesus wept he is clueless - keeps calling Sheff Utd "Sheffield" and is as biased as can be.
  7. Wow. Red Bull seem to have real issues this weekend, and Verstappen may well get a penalty to knock him further down the grid yet too. I really hope this is the weekend we see a different winner. Anyone will do to be honest!
  8. Good lord that was a heavy crash for Lance Stroll. It has spoiled a really exciting end to Q1, every single driver was running faster than the best previous times. Is there a way for them change the regulations at some point which doesn't mean that a late red flag borks 5 people's qualifying? It's not fair at all that Piastri, Bottas etc. are out purely because they didn't get to finish their last lap when several others did.
  9. All of the counter-points to the protest group are just classic whataboutism. The one who keeps listing the UK's war crimes whilst the bloke literally agrees with him on them is laughable. A very good friend of mine is a season ticket holder at Newcastle. He's very politically active, used to campaign for Labour in Doncaster (albeit for Caroline Flint) and is a staunch Corbynite. But he also employed these "What about the UK? What about Man City?" tactics in debates about the Saudis when they took over. He knows it's all bullshit but he loves his club too much. And that's the sad thing - if you had asked the majority of Newcastle fans, I imagine they'd not say they wanted a nation state such as Saudi Arabia to take over their club. But they want their club to be successful, and they feel they suffered for years under Mike Ashley, so ultimately all it comes down to is whether or not the football team can be successful or not.
  10. That's the Cards all over. I'd rather stick with Kyler if he comes back from his injury okay. Not that it matters, the team is a dumpster fire top to bottom anyway.
  11. I wouldn't bother with the lottery tonight, like. Satisfied with a point and some goals. Hope we have somehow found a way to win a game by the end of the month.
  12. Everton's bench today has only 7 players on it: two goalkeepers, two crap defenders, a youth midfielder, an injured winger and a teenage striker. Says it all about where the club is at.
  13. It doesn't give me any hope to be honest, not least because we have already lost at home to Wolves. Got Sheffield United tomorrow after barely scraping by Doncaster in the cup as well. The reality is that Everton are only going in one direction whilever Moshiri and Kenwright remain in charge. This is becoming year on year now and I cannot see another season of toil ending in an unlikely/gutsy escape. It reminds me of Villa when they scraped by for a few years under Lerner before finally going. The fear is that it actually ends up more like Sunderland.
  14. It now appears Everton will today sell Iwobi and Cannon, and loan out Maupay, whilst signing...nobody. Short at least three players already, and letting a pretty consistent first team performer go. Superb. It'll be absolute carnage at the next home game I imagine. My belief that we'd be relegated has been there all summer and this should just about confirm it.
  15. Chelsea have signed Cole Palmer for £42.5m. That is an astounding signing to me. Palmer may well be an amazing player but that amount of money for a player who has started two league games in his career is madness. It's also baffling to me that City have willingly sold him to a team capable of challenging them for the league title in terms of finance and stature.
  16. Southgate has proved that cohesive selections and consistency in his squad works. You can't just always pick players on form, it's disjointed and as if the national team is a reward/prize when it isn't, it's an ongoing team that only get to work together so often. That is why Maguire and Phillips are in the squad. Maguire always performs for England - he had an excellent World Cup - and Phillips was England Player of the Year before the injuries cost him a lot of last season. You can work new players in, and form is absolutely a factor in selection (like Sancho being gone from the fold now, Nketiah being called up) but a lot of people take it as the main reason for squad selection and it just shouldn't be. I think Southgate does well with it.
  17. They could do a Netflix documentary just on the events of the past 10 days with this Rubiales story. Mind-blowing stuff. His mum's been in the hospital after less than two days of hunger strike.
  18. Doncaster 100%. Probably for the best Everton have won but I'm happier as a Donny fan after that than I am as an Everton fan, if that makes sense.
  19. Doncaster 1-0 Everton at half time. Offside but a deserved lead overall, Rovers have been the better side. As soon as the game kicked off, I can't lie, I didn't feel any split allegiance at all.
  20. I am astounded. I know the Spanish FA has previous for pervading a culture of sexism and misogyny but bloody hell. The evidence is there for a worldwide audience to see, and this really is just completely spoiling Spain's achievement now. Rubiales and all involved in this at the FA should fuck right off.
  21. Jenni Hermoso 'didn't consent' to Luis Rubiales kiss as 83 Spain players refuse to play He will surely have to resign in disgrace now.
  22. Spain's government is going to take Rubiales to a sport tribunal, so they aren't letting it lie. This has kinda dominated the sports news today, so definitely hitting the worldwide media. Such a shame for the Spanish national team in the wake of their World Cup win that this is all anyone is talking about.
  23. I like Simmons, hope he does well for the Giants. Our roster is very lacking now. So many have left, and we already weren't very good. I can't think of many marquee players - Kyler, Hollywood Brown, Ertz, Budda Baker and James Conner are about it. And there's asterisks against nigh on all of them. I'm expecting it to be a long, barren season.
  24. Ben Anderson has mentioned it and he's legit, so it's not just Twitter rubbish but, surely, it's a nonsense thing.
  25. I'd love to say he won't end up at another English club before long, but honestly I think he will. A club somewhere will decide his football ability outweighs the PR flak and think they can ride it out. It happened with Ched Evans, and multiple clubs tried it with David Goodwillie albeit not clubs as high profile as the Premier League or EFL.
