  1. Marina and the Diamonds leaked. Quite a good album. I prefer her new songs to the ones that have been around ages, for the most part, and I preferred the original version of "Girls" to the album version (mostly just lyric changes, if you've seen her live in the past 9 months or so, it's that version on the album). One or two songs just seem "there", but there's nothing remotely bad. The lack of Seventeen is shit though.
  2. Manchester and/or London. The idea of guests tba hints at a 'big' band playing with them as opposed to 'local' supports they used last time. This Is A Standoff have their own dates on the 4th/6th/8th (for definite) so they wont be on the whole tour. I've got my fingers crossed for Pour Habit, the idea of Strung Out/This Is A Standoff/Pour Habit on one show is fucking unreal...they're on Groezrock at the end of the month, so I could see them doing this with Strung Out and then a week or two of mainland Europe dates before Groezrock. Plus the fact Jordan/Pour Habit guys are good buddies, I think it's a good shout. No Newcastle or Leeds? Manchester it is, I can get a lateish train back to Leeds and just stop there for the night, though it's right in the middle of Easter break.
  3. Best support since Chuck Ragan was announced for Frank Turner. Fuck it, buying my Pennywise ticket tomorrow. edit: Strike Anywhere are the other support. Cracking lineup.

    Big in 2010?

Saw Delphic and Two Door Cinema Club recently, free gig, both were really good. Owl City are excellent, definitely gonna catch their tour with Lights next year. Marina, well... I think that speaks for itself.
  5. Ignite's "Our Darkest Days" is one of my favourite albums of the past five years. I lost it the last time my laptop fucked up, and only just re-acquired it. Best thing I've done all week. Also listened to "Miracle Kicker" by Dark Captain Light Captain before for the first time in a while. Fantastic album. Other than those two, I've listened to a lot of Four Year Strong and Strung Out today (basically all week, really). Been a good day.
  6. hahaha what the fuck, Milburn? Is this 2007? Tom Waits is one of those people who I feel like I should listen to, but never have. Maybe at the weekend or something.
  7. Strung Out Frank Turner As for the others, I strongly dislike Iron Maiden, find the Smiths and Death Cab horribly overrated, Prodigy are quality, and I either quite like or don't have an informed opinion on/don't particularly care about the rest. Oh, yeah, and Oasis. Morning Glory and Definitely Maybe are good, shit otherwise.
  8. Ugh, I'm well behind, so I'm just gonna comment on the ones I actually want to comment on. I like Blink-182, always will. They're a band I grew up listening to, and the songs never seem to get old. Birds from Waterloo Road. I will listen to the Weakerthans one day. AJJ is pretty good. Pendulum are good, but I tend to get sick of them after a while. Better in small doses. Coheed are good. Ryan Adams has ruined any chance of me ever listening to him. What a cunt. Jenny Lewis I hate the Libertines. I've never really "got" them, plus I think Pete Doherty's a twat. Arctic Monkeys are good, as long as they stick to doing shit like "...Dancefloor". New album is dire. haha, that pic of Lewis Hamilton with KISS is genius. I love Nirvana. If I was voting now, I probably would have had Steetlight Manifesto in there somewhere. But I started listening to them too late. Los Camp are fan-dabi-dozi, they're always touring yet I never go and see them for some reason. Wow, Belle and Sebastian are ugly, ugly people. THE SUDDEN SIGHT OF MIRRORS BROUGHT THE HERO'S DEMISE! HEY OPERATOR OPERATOR STOP ACTING CIVILIZED! AWS are brilliant. I have a horrible feeling I forgot to vote for them. Reuben are fun. WHAT THE FUCK? KID FUCKING CUDI? Day 'n' Nite's good, but that's pretty much his only song. His mixtape's shit. THE BOSS! I fucking love Springsteen. He was absolutely amazing at Glasto, I want to see him again.

    Big in 2010?

Last year's thread introduced me to Little Boots and Marina. If this year's doesn't live up to that, I will be highly disappointed.
  10. Coldplay have, erm, one decent album. haha, no way do Electric Six have 7 albums. JEW are great, though I haven't listened to them for ages. Crystal Method, no idea. REM and Hendrix, I've heard the "big" songs but never really bothered with them, probably deserve to be in a top 100 list though. Needs more fit birds. In addition to novelty ties, not instead of. Combine the two if possible.
  11. Awesome, it's on a Saturday, so I'll just come home that weekend. Would rather a Leeds date though.
  12. 2 is Deadmau5, as YI said, any offers on the song? And next list will feature less stuff YI knows. Promise.
  13. 2: Canadian DJ/producer, collaboration from his most recent album. 3: Canadian pop singer, well fit, about to start touring with Owl City which makes me really want to live in America. 4: LD has the artist right. 5: Manchester-based band which every UK band for the past 20 years has claimed to have been influenced by. 9: Currently supporting Frank Turner on his UK tour. 10: Ugly bird with awesome voice who can't swim.
  14. Nope. I'll probably throw some clues up in an hour or so if I don't go out.
  15. Fucking hell. I thought it might have been Cut Ups before, so I listened to it again, but I didn't think it was right.
  16. New list time. 1: Not long ago in my high school days 2: It's been so long, I've been out of my body with you 3: Seems somebody put out the moon 4: Silently I step up with a subversive subtext 5: What she said how come someone hasn't noticed 6: You're walking on a broken foot this time 7: Bless your gilded tombstone heart 8: Feel it coming in the air 9: Well oh well, oh well oh well 10: Mom thinks that you're sad and that you're living alone
  17. fuck. I can hear 3 in my head, but I have no idea who it is. 8: Leatherface - Trenchfoot 9 is clearly Bob Dylan from the metalman clue ( ), though no idea what song. edit: Note to self: don't combine washing the dishes with posting on the internet.
  18. If you wanted to do Propagandhi/PTH/SA at Leeds, you could crash at mine for the night, nobody from home lives round here, so I can pull off the "mate from home" thing with anyone who has a remotely Geordie accent. Also, the Los Camp discussion has reminded me I need to get a Cockpit wristband from somewhere so I can see them for free on Friday as part of the 15th anniversary thing they're doing.
  19. Close enough - it's the cover by the mighty, mighty Four Year Strong. Clue time! 1: Blackpool based pop-punk band, lead guitarist died last year. 4: The artist topped YI's 2008 Best Albums list, this is from the follow-up. 5: Long-running Californian punk band, singer recently left. 7: YI basically had it, anyone wanna give the correct song title? Eagerly awaiting YI coming in here and kicking himself, I'm surprised he didn't get all ten straight away. I'm shit at giving clues, so they're all well obvious, you should at least get the bands.
  20. 5 is Gaslight Anthem - Navesink Banks. Fuck it, might as well add another list. 1: This sound is so romantic (let's tear it up!) 2: Before you say a word, before you turn away 3: You've got me stuck on repeat 4: Outside my window I see trouble 5: If you leave I'll be right behind you 6: She's walking around, she's got her headphones on 7: When Jack was born he winked at mom 8: I woke up on a sofa in an unfamiliar house 9: Somebody tell me how to get to Saint Maria 10: You think that we connect Some of those are well easy. :/
  21. Frank Turner has announced March dates. Well, he announced them about ten days ago, but I've just found out the support. CHUCK RAGAN. Leeds Academy 1 is a two minute walk from my uni accommodation, so I'm there.
  22. Yeah, my top 7 is fairly solid, but for 8, 9 and 10, I was thinking of the fanny. If I wasn't, AWS and Hot Water Music would definitely be in there somewhere. I had loads of candidates for the last few spots, it was well hard to narrow it down.
  23. 1: Strung Out 2: The Gaslight Anthem 3: Frank Turner 4: Dropkick Murphys 5: Bruce Springsteen 6: The Prodigy 7: The Low Anthem 8: Little Boots 9: Slow Club 10: Marina and the Diamonds I have seen 9/10 of these in the past 12 months, 7/10 at Glastonbury. Not bad at all. Though I had to do dark, dark things to see Frank Turner... It involved travelling to Middlesbrough.

  25. Best I can tell from a quick search, one of the Bloody Elbow guys heard a rumour about it, and that qualifies as fact on Wikipedia these days.
