  1. I am on a big Andrew Jackson Jihad kick again today. People Who Can Eat People Are the Luckiest People in the World is such a fantastic album (not to mention album name.)
  2. I was really worn out from this past weekend, so I spent my whole day off yesterday in bed watching TV shows on my computer and I finally finished the first season of the show. Needless to say I am very excited for the second season. As one of the board's resident Rollins marks I am super stoked about him joining the cast. I checked out the preview stuff they have up on Hulu and it looks like his run will be a good one even if he is just around for 6 episodes.
  3. 1. Townes Van Zandt 2. Tom Waits 3. Ween 4. Bruce Springsteen 5. The Libertines 6. Pearl Jam 7. The Misfits 8. Andrew Jackson Jihad 9. Gogol Bordello 10. Little Joy
  4. I have always thought that Motorhead should cover some Sinatra standards. Who wouldn't love to hear Lemmy growl out a version of 'My Way'?
  5. Wow, I have no clue what they are saying in that Pillows' song but, Christ, is it catchy as all hell.
  6. So I really dug the musical spectrum thread, but also had a bit of trouble trying to decide what I wanted to post. Ultimately I came up with this rule and figured it might be worth its own thread for shits and giggles. So what song has the highest play count and by comparison what song has the lowest play count in your library? Most Played, Ween - Transdermal Celebration Least Played, Also, I had no clue I had that Nu Shooz song on my computer. It is such an amazing 80's track. After this thread I am resolving to boost its play count out of the basement.
  7. I forced the kitchen at work to listen to Danzig all night. There was surprisingly little protest.
  8. I don't think I saw this anywhere, but apparently Guy Ritchie agreed to direct a Lobo adaptation.
  9. What are some songs that you typically need to listen to more than once to feel fulfilled? For some reason every time I listen to The Flaming Lips' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9saeLg_GQg, I end up listening to it again. Sometimes up to like 4 or 5 times. It is just such a fun, catchy, quirky little song. I don't know if it is just because it is a shorter song but I tend to need to hear it the multiple times to really feel ready to move on in my listening.
  10. I also loved The Irredeemable Antman, but the decision to make him a supporting character in other books was definitely the right choice. Plus it yielded us the great panel where he and Taskmaster sit out of a fight at Camp Hammond to watch videos on his Ipod. A girl I work with recently loaned me her copy of Box Office Poison and I've really been enjoying it. I usually don't go for this type of comic, but it is exceptionally well written and loaded with some great tips of the hat to other comics, movies, and pop culture et cetera that makes it an awful lot of fun.
  11. Well, wont you lend your lungs to me?

    Mine are collapsing

Plant my feet and bitterly breathe

    Up the time thats passing.

Breath Ill take and breath Ill give

    Pray the day aint poison

Stand among the ones that live

    In lonely indecision.

  12. My love for Brubaker continues to grow by leaps in bounds. I just finished reading the amazing Immortal Iron fist run he did with Fraction. I've never really cared for Iron Fist, but he totally sucked me into the character and his lore. Also, Fat Cobra! Nuff said!
  13. I may be way late on this but wow awesome...
  14. I love you, Buzz Cooper
  15. Doin' it Bloggy Style starring Blog Jeremy
  16. Yeah, at the risk of beating this horse to death, any vehicle for Woody Harelson to return to the silver screen gets a thumbs up from me. Killing zombies on a quest for Twinkies is just the icing on the cake.
  17. Micheal Jackson died today, cause of death was heart failure... Apparently his heart simply "stopped after getting enough."
  18. So last night I took my Dad to a Blue Oyster Cult concert for his birtday/Father's day. I've always been kind of aware of their work but man did they rock live. Both guitarist were amazing (epic guitar solo's galore!), they had an amazing bassist touring with them (who did a cool medley of all the other bands he'd toured with prior [Quietriot/Whitesnake/Ozzy] during the breakdown of Godzilla), and the drummer wasn't bad either. They even played off the More Cowbell joke abit during their intro. All and all, the concert completely exceeded my expectations. So EWB, when has this happened to you? When has a band's awesomeness totally taken you by surprise?
  19. Alright, so I've just jumped into Peter David's 2005 run with Dennis Calero on X-Factor and WOW am I loving it. The art is graceful and complementary to the noir feel of David's writing and I really can't understate how much I've enjoyed his storytelling. You can really tell that he has written these characters before. This is a comic I probably never would have checked out if not for Marvel's Online library but boy am I glad I did. I haven't been so pleasantly surprised with a book since I checked out The Irredeemable Ant-man. Can anyone recommend anything else by David? I am not overly familiar with his work but there are only 34 issues from this run online and I'd love to either check out more of his work-- preferably from the last 9 years. I am not a huge X-Factor buff either. Is it worth checking out their earlier titles? Also, more Madrox = Greatness.
  20. Ugh, I hate Humberto Ramos' artwork. He is an instant interest killer in any comic for me. Anyone have that effect for you guys? I seriously cannot read something if he has done the art.
  21. "AND YOU CAN'T PISS ON HOSPITALITY. I WON'T ALLOW IT." Oh, man the line that shall live in infamy. The best part of that movie is that there is a whole counter culture that widely celebrates it as the best worst film ever made. In fact, there is recent documentary about it. Here is the equally funny trailer for that.
  22. GRIFT

    Punk rock.

Not to mention his childhood friend Ian McKaye... was in like half the bands in DC.
  23. GRIFT

    Punk rock.

It is the same album minus the bonus track. I think the performances are the same, but I am not sure about the mastering. The difference mostly falls, I believe, in the fact that the first release was only on cassette and when they finally got around to releasing it on LP and later CD formats we came up with the latter. But it has been ages since my days of Bad Brains fanaticism. So take all that with a grain of salt.
  24. Ah, yes. I just read The End not that long ago and I will say that I loved Gambit's story. Hell, I kind of hope Spoiler: Click here to viewthat Gambit being Sinister's clone works its way into official continuity (feel free to yell at me if it has). But didn't Byrne do most of the plot work on that? I think that my main problem with most of Claremont's recent work is that his writing style is so anachronistic . He is simply using the same storytelling techniques he used in the 70's and while I respect his original tenure with the X-Men, he has been more miss than hit since he gave up the reigns in '91.
