  1. Grabovski had an unkeepable contract and part of placating Kessel enough to sign means having to take care of his roommate, too. Bozak's been probably the best Toronto forward since he came back five or six games ago anyway and he undeniably compliments that top line. You can see the difference when he's away and when he's not. Kadri had ample opportunity to play with Kessel and VR when Bozak was out hurt - he generated 4 points in 3 weeks. Bozak's been back 6 games and has 7 in that time - "not a number one centre, I just play one on television!" Carlyle came advertised as a dick. He's a dick. If you can't handle playing for a coach who is not nice, you should quit professional sports. The players he's being hard on need to wake up. Kadri is a soft floater most nights. Gardiner needs some defensive responsibility scared into him. Games where you surrender 50+ shots and your top lines can't produce a goal don't need to be blamed on fourth line muckers who play 3 minutes. That's passing the buck away from darlings who aren't getting it done. edit: I wish we could talk about all teams with this kind of vim!
  2. http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-philadelphia-flyers/tims-twitter-qa-ryan-team-usa-more Never heard it before, but that's the source. It kinda doesn't pass the smell test because JVR then was a diminished prospect with concussion red flags coming up and Yandle was and still is among the best at what he does and certainly his team's premiere player. You can't believe that Phoenix would make the offer because it's a bad bad trade.
  3. The whole "allowing reporters into meetings, expecting them not to relay exactly what is said" thing is just mind blowing. I think the audacity of not selecting Ryan is maybe overblown, but the way it was handled is so catastrophically stupid.
  4. Burke's hair is getting to be a sort of Donald Trump/Flock of Seagulls amalgam. It's beautifully dishevelled. Reporters now firing questions about the rebuild in Toronto...
  5. The glass shattered right behind the visitor's net last night in Florida. They didn't have a replacement pane... (apparently it is glass, but they left the sticky paper on because it was too difficult to peel)
  6. Neal's blatant knee to the head of Marchand is about as stomach-turning. Two teams just out of control. I was totally disgusted too by Boston's idiot announcers saying Orpik wouldn't have been stretchered if he "manned up" and accepted a fight with Thornton when it was offered. The stupid thing is that it's a clean hit on Eriksson which precipitates the whole deal. Orpik lined him up and Eriksson left himself really badly exposed.
  7. Unmasked is Ciclope, next to him is Miedo Extremo if I'm not wrong.
  8. Bob McKenzie pointed out that they didn't have any NHL games from 98-02 either, during which time they significantly ramped up coverage of hockey. So that's probably what will continue to happen. They still have the regional agreements for the Jets and Habs games going forward, so it's not totally the end. But there will probably be people crossing the parking lot to Sportsnet before long. It's gross to think that, in lieu of actual hockey, they'll be adding even more hours of talking and potstirring over trivial player issues or constructed narratives. Interestingly, CBC didn't have the cash to pony up and keep HNIC alive. It was only with Rogers taking them as a partner that they were able to figure into the deal. Rogers will have control over HNIC w/r/t advertising, on-air personnel, game selection, and pretty much everything else though it remains on CBC. Weird day.
  9. I'm leaning towards nature of EWR. The feature I think is more about throwing a kink in the gameplay and hamstringing you by taking certain wrestlers (generally good ones) away at random times. I don't know that it was designed to really replicate the Japanese scene - I don't recall the early data Adam released including a great number of Japanese workers in it. Probably just a key few. You could add the essential Japanese wrestlers in with their touring commitments and maybe rig the deck a bit by giving them low overness relative to a high salary to discourage the AI from signing them. If they're good wrestlers, the game might still want to take them regardless.
  10. Wow, they must have really wanted rid of Versteeg. Olsen might crack the Panthers lineup, but that's robbery especially with the salary split. Tallon Remodel 2.0!
  11. I like that Larionov is trying to help them out a bit on this one. Like, they refuse to bite the bullet and deal one of four or five young offensive snipers who all fit a very similar role, so maybe if one demands a trade they'll be backed into a situation where they have no choice but to improve.
  12. Santo v. the Martian Invasion is a good one and I think the first I was able to get my hands on. Martians land in Mexico and use their high-technology belts to control people's minds and abduct them. Lots of cheesy setpieces and weird setups and all the action scenes are done like lucha sparring. It's great. is really weird and a bit tough to follow, but it tries to do something of an origin story for the Santo character and there's lots of fighting in dungeons. I've had my wires crossed for a long time on the Guanjuato mummies one, because I have a different movie altogether than the Santo/Demon version in my collection. Turns out someone took virtually the same story a year later and cast Tinieblas as the lead with the fake luchadores Superzan and Blue Angel as his sidekicks.
  13. It's been pointed out many times that this thread has very little to do with Bill's data particularly and is about correcting pervasive issues across all different kinds of EWR data. If you could not re-re-re-re-open that can of worms, I'd just love it.
  14. They did win the titles (and immediately vacated), so I'm guessing someone just included them because they were on a list of champions.
  15. I'm curious about this one They did team, but it was so shortlived I'm surprised anyone put them together in-game. Typhoon came to Memphis as Big Bubba and was taking everyone's belts. Jerry Lawler had an issue with Don Bass & Dirty Rhodes who were the tag champions. To get a shot at Lawler's Southern title, Bubba agreed to help him take on Bass & Rhodes in a match. The team broke up like a week later when Bubba turned on Lawler because he wanted his title shot.
  16. Moulson's a great complimentary player with this knack of getting up to the level of his linemates. I just don't know who he compliments in Buffalo, mean as that sounds. He seems like a way better fit to play with Vanek rather than be traded for Vanek. Sabres are a disaster. I really wonder what the offers for Ryan Miller are looking like.
  17. Snakesonaplane, you've only been helpful and informative in trying to explain the game engine. As has been said, you have nothing to be embarrassed about. Please don't shy away or think that you are being lumped in because it's not the case. You're one of the only people talking sense while keeping it respectful in here, so thank you.
  18. I didn't ask for your closing remarks - quite the opposite - and I'm within the scope of my 'power' when I moderate terrible discourse like this. Thanks for your continued patronage.
  19. That underlined part means training as well. If you want a stat update based on all of your own arbitrary definitions and preferences, I strongly urge you to make that update. This thread isn't your special dominion for proclaiming what will or will not go in the data. This thread is for proposing changes that the majority of users can agree on for the sake of better play. You are one voice and (like with much of what you contribute) most of the other voices don't really seem to agree, so maybe you need to back off on this one a bit. Not interested in hearing more on this 'debate' and I will definitely suspend people who want to keep dragging it on or throwing out personal attacks. It's beyond stupid - if you don't like the attribute one way or the other, it's definitely in your power to correct it. Moving on...
  20. John Scott probably looking at a lengthy suspension, this seems like the most blatant headshot of the year. Air Canada Centre is putting a Bon Jovi banner in the rafters...
  21. 1. Dan Mintz 2. Tig Notaro 3. Louis CK 4. Patrice O'Neal 5. David Cross 6. John Mulaney 7. Bill Burr 8. Eugene Mirman 9. Natasha Leggero 10. Todd Barry
