The 2010 Summer transfer thread
britneyspearsisgod replied to ChrisSteeleAteMyHamster's topic in Myke's Sports Bar
And Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in their times didn't attract the glory hunting fans at one time or another? Successful teams attract know-fuck-all "fans". This is life. One day, Bristol Rovers will be one of those teams As for Milner... yeah, £30m is too much. I would say £15m is sufficient, £20m for a profit maybe. Anyway, don't City have enough wide midfielders? Or would they stick him in the middle? -

If Austria, Poland, Ukraine and Switzerland can all capably host the Euro's, I don't see why Portugal couldn't host an international tournament with Spain. Although England are going to win anyway because we win. At everything. Even life. -

David Beckham won La Liga with Real Madrid and then left for LA. Not exactly the downfall of someone's career. Beckham always hits troughs and peaks, regardless of what league they play in. I'm not saying MLS is a bad league, because it is not. It's growing and will become top quality, I am sure. Although just like the North American Soccer League before it, they seem hell bent on signing anyone after their prime The whole Beckham debate is fruitless to me - he went there on a marketing strategy and keeps going back to Italy to play a higher level of football. Not exactly a strong commitment. However, if he can still play at that level then fair play to him and may he continue. -

I don't think it's 100% confirmed, but it's widely accepted to probably be the case. -

Obviously, as an Englishman, I want England to host it in 2018. But if we're talking what's best for football? I would say USA or Russia. But, England would be a great World Cup. In terms of 2022, Qatar is definitely my vote. The Middle East need to get in the game more. Their money already is, so why not their physical beings? But yeah. USA would make some good money. But Russia would be a strong statement, considering it was not THAT long ago they were hidden behind the Iron Curtain, blocked away from the rest of the world. -

And in all fairness, I saw his son play against Bristol Rovers's youngsters - he was shit. Well, shit is harsh. But he wasn't anything special. He'll be a solid League Two addition But yeah. I was not impressed. Now, speaking of Bristol Rovers - we have signed some players! HOW AMAZING!!! ACTUAL PLAYERS!!! He have now got: - GK Luke Daniels (LOAN) from West Bromwich Albion - DF James Tunncliffe (LOAN) from Brighton & Hove Albion - MF Wayne Brown (FREE) from Fulham - MF Harry Pell (FREE) from Charlton Athletic - ST Will Hoskins (FREE) from Watford - DF Gary Sawyer (FREE) from Plymouth Argyle From what I am told, all of them are young players with the potential to do good things for a club of our stature. I am pleased with all of these so far. I have a particular hard-on for Will Hoskins thanks to Football Manager. Tunncliffe has potential to be a good centre-back, Daniels is apparently a good goalkeeper, Wayne Brown has good experience of first team football (Finnish Premier League)... all good. All young with potential. -

If this is the one against Chile, then that was a dive and a half. But fair play to him, because diving truly is an art form these days I don't want the Dutch to win. I don't like the idea of the Dutch coming back to South Africa and putting their stamp on the country again. Although not like last time obviously Spain I would kind of like, but Germany would be acceptable as well given how they have played in the tournament. The only thing is that I kind of want something different to happen. And Spain have never won a WC. And given how that team have performed in the past, they should be somewhere near that level and win. To be honest though, once England gets knocked out of these tournaments I lose all interest anyway -

He fails to perform for England, but that doesn't mean he's crap. He was not utilized properly at Manchester United for quite a while, but Ferguson worked out how to use Rooney properly. -

On the subject of Rooney, he is a quality player. However, he dropped in way too deep today to make himself a threat. Having Gerrard up behind him would have brought out more of him. Any player can be shite when you play them out of position. It is up to the manager to get the best out of the players. Messi is a class player, but stick him in defence and he would be shit. Ozil isn't much of a finisher, so sticking him as a lone striker would fuck his game up. Rooney is by no means the messiah he's made out to be, but he is a quality striker who can become World Class if used to his advantage. -

I am just amazed that a team of players can just perform like this. Italy still give it some fight. The French COULD have given some fight had they not decided they don't like anybody. But that? That was just absolutely inept. I am shocked they could be THAT bad. Just absolutely shit. It was a disrespect to Germany for us to provide such abysmal opposition. We were just god damn awful. -

To be fair, the manager has constantly picked a flawed system with the players he has. They have been woeful, but they're playing in a woeful formation. Just... shit. -

WHY ARE YOU BRINGING EMILE HESKEY ON!?!?!?!?!?! WHY IS GERRARD IS STILL ON THE LEFT!?!?!??!?! WHY DID YOU TAKE MILNER OFF!?!?!?!??!?!?! I am just... amazed. A team of players who should be performing at ten times the level that they are playing at right now. -

Look, everyone - IT IS VERY OBVIOUS IT WAS IN. No one has to debate this fact. It's clearly a goal. But it was not given for some clearly insane reason. All we can do now is go for the win. -
