  1. Despite my dislike of Bristol City, it seems Crystal Palace really are just shit out of luck. It's a shame and I will never understand how the referee never saw it was a goal (coincidentally, who uses goals like that anymore? It's not kids football). They should have replayed the game in my eyes. However, it's hard to sympathise with the perpetual moaner that is Neil Warnock, even at the expense of City.
  2. Hey, if they can make it work, then fair play to them. Regardless of his motives or reasoning, he has a good level of contacts and knowledge that can at the very least get them around the bottom of the Championship. Premiership straight away may be a stretch, but they will definitely move forwards if they utilize both Sven and Ian McParland to the fullest potential possible.
  3. A true legend in football and life. To see someone who spoke so passionately about what he loved, it's a great loss for anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. However, we should remember the good times he give everyone and to remember what he taught us all. RIP Good sir. My hat comes off to you
  4. We haven't announced our kit yet at Bristol Rovers, but I would have LOVED this to be it:
  5. So Bristol Rovers are starting off at home to Leyton Orient and finishing at Leeds away, which should be a good game. I'm pleased.
  6. [1] Chelsea [2] Manchester United [3] Liverpool [4] Tottenham Hotspur [5] Manchester City [6] Arsenal [7] Everton [8] Aston Villa [9] Fulham [10] West Ham United [11] Blackburn Rovers [12] Wigan Athletic [13] Bolton Wanderers [14] Portsmouth [15] Sunderland [16] Birmingham City [17] Stoke [18] Hull City [19] Wolverhampton Wanderers [20] Burnley
  7. The fact is, it's a bit like WWE - people buy into whatever Seth MacFarland produces and he is able to sell that concept to FOX. FOX know they're going to get a similar kind of audience and some good money. It's not too hard to understand. It will draw some viewers in to justify the decision. Although I do agree a Mayor West spin-off would have been nothing short of awesome.
  8. Bristol Rovers sign Carl Regan from MK Dons on a 2yr deal. Yeah. We got it going on in the lower leagues too, ya know
  9. Aside from the aforementioned two Champions League wins and the Scudetto win, he has managed a team that wasn't built by himself and the egos that came along with it to achieve considerable success. He was unable to win two titles in 2004-05 and 2005-06 because Juventus have been convicted of fixing the matches to alter those years wins. He guided Reggina to Serie A. He guided Parma to 2nd Place of Serie A in a league filled with Milan, Inter, Fiorentina, Lazio and Juventus, amongst others. Add this fact to the two 2nd place finishes he had with Juventus. Plus, Milan's 2002-03 Champions League win was coupled with a Coppa Italia trophy too. Plus the Club World Cup. Not much, but it's still something. And considering he did all that when the sad fact about life and sport is that you simply CANNOT WIN ALL THE TIME says to me Chelsea have a man with immense credentials. I personally believe Hiddink is the better manager, but it's a bit like trading a Porsche for a Ferrari - either way, you've got a beast of a car to drive in.
  10. O'Neill or Moyes would be my bet to succeed, but one of their coaches may fill the void too. You can never rule out anyone of Mourinho's class, but his ego is bigger than the clubs he manages. It's whether Man Utd could handle that and I'm not sure they would want to. It'll end up being whoever Sir Alex recommends the most. There's always the option to "keep it in the family" with son Darren. The future holds many answers to these questions.
  11. To be honest, as much of a twat as he is, he's still got a great defender's mind on him. If he can impart some of his former talents on the other betters, then good. Let him be about. It's not like he'll definitely play or anything and, in all kindness to the other teams, it's Kazakhstan and Andorra. I think we should get a victory or two over them A bit of a surprise, but not by any means an upsetting one.
  12. QPR released a bunch of players, including Liam Miller. Maybe it's me, but we are looking for a midfielder at Bristol Rovers. Liam Miller might work for someone at our level. Can anyone remind me of how good he is? I see him in his Sunderland strip on the BBC Sport site and I keep thinking of Liam Lawrence
  13. I want Millwall to go up because I'm fucking sick and tired of watching them play crap football at the Memorial Stadium. We're getting Southampton and Norwich, so why add Millwall to the list of shit matches?
  14. Don't be too sure of that. If you give us the right offer, we'll let you talk without question. To be honest though, while I am a fan of Lambert and his goals, you wouldn't want him at Leeds. He has absolutely no pace and he is only good when he puts the effort in. If he's just not feeling it and feels lackadaisical, then he's no better than anyone else we've got. Honestly, for the money we'd ask for him, get someone younger and quicker.
  15. League Two generally favours the late gasp run of form for the play-offs, so Shrewsbury have as good a chance as ever to succeed.
  16. Nope, I fully agree. I wanted Barca to win so we'd get the final and I'm happy they did. However, the referee had a very shocking game and I'd be fully pissed off too. I'm fed up of everyone expecting these people to be robots and not get angry if they get slighted in anyway. Ballack I'll agree with because he did it during the match and should know better. But Drogba was justified. This is what else pisses me off about refereeing - they are not allowed to be angry? Heat of the moment situations like that should be avoided, yes. However, the fact is Chelsea can honestly look at the game and think "what if?". For a lot of those players, they may not get that opportunity again and it is bound to hurt. Besides which, if they dare say anything they'll get reprimanded and accused of bringing the game into disrepute for essentially telling the referee he did a shit job. If either manager or any player did shit tonight, they'd be rightly told so. Yet you are not allowed to tell the ref how crap he was? How is that justified? You can't condone the swearing and on the field of play it's not justifiable to round on the referee like that. But it's very understandable and at the end of the game, why can't they discuss it with the ref? It was a very poorly handled game and I have every sympathy for Chelsea. Whether they should have won or not can go either way. Ultimately it wasn't to be their night. But the manner of defeat can only raise questions. Given the referee's performance, I don't think he can justifiably say he didn't deserve a bollocking. Full credit to Hiddink for the way he handled the interview afterwards. Chelsea need to do everything they can to make him their permanent manager. Also, Jamie Redknapp it a tit. And so is Graeme Souness.
  17. Hey, people react differently to watching their loved ones die right in front of their eyes I think he must have been emotionally fragile beforehand anyway. There was an issue that was exacerbated by the defeat.
  18. All in all, I said I'd take 10th as an extremely good season and 11th is just as good. We've made some good progress on last season and I am quietly confident we can challenge for the play-offs next season. Not as exciting as it has been for Bristol Rovers in the last good few years or so (both good and bad), but compared to where we had been before, this is a complete turnaround and I am permanently pleased. Here's to Norwich/Charlton/Southampton away next season! And a quirky take on sponsorship for next season - Bristol Rovers announce this via our official website: I got to be honest, for us this is pretty quirky. Still, if it works? £100,000 in the kitty. EWB, fancy being on a League One shirt next season?
  19. Regardless of relegation or safety, Newcastle just need to get this season over with. Take a break, relax and recharge. Then, when July 1st comes around, return to work. Sit down, have a long hard think. They need to clean house and rebuild. Remove dead weight, both on the coaching staff and the playing staff. They don't build a strong youth team - even that needs to be looked at. Everything needs re-evaluating. Inspect even the blades of grass on the pitch. And from there, bring in new blood. Players eager for the chance to play at whatever level. Most of all, don't get too ambitious. If they stay up, simply look to consolidate their Premiership status next season. If they start next season in the Championship, aim for the play-offs. Build afresh and new. A complete overhaul isn's necessarily what is being asked here, but a complete and intensive look at the entire club is something they need to watch.
  20. There seems to be this hatred of your lot and, if I'm honest, I think whenever we (Bristol Rovers) have had you guys down, compared to Millwall, your lot have been alright. There are much worse fans about. I certainly know from our away games the pricks we can get "supporting" us. Every away game I've been to, I can honestly say I've always heard at least one racist. Honestly, not just "he's a darkie" racist - I mean proper "fucking kill that spook" racist. Home games? Not one incident. Away games? Every time. But yeah, I hope they alleviate the problem. Part of the problem as well is that by constantly putting these restrictions on, it gives the bad sets of fans more reason to feel aggrieved, thus expanding the problem. It's a shame. I would like to see Leeds again next year, but I guess maybe we might not get it. Millwall I'm not fussed about. Tranmere I would like to see promoted because I use to live near there, so it's loyalty more than anything. Scunthorpe I care not for. MK Dons I want to see stay because I despise what they become and want to see Wimbledon face them some day (a feat more manageable the lower they are).
  21. CREDIT BBC SPORT That's quite a shroud move me thinks. Gould's not amazing by any standards, but he's still sound for that level of the pyramid.
  22. I think Ashley just knows it's a better prospect to sell the club to someone when a younger man is in charge that everyone likes than an old guy who is close to keeling over if the situation turns ugly. Plus Chris Hughton, as nice a guy as he is, isn't exactly a great manager by any means. I get the feeling if this turns out true, then Ashley is simply giving in to every demand Shearer is placing on him in order to set the club straight. As this news shall tell you: CREDIT BBC SPORT The wrestling fan in me wanted them to say "we wish him luck in all his future endeavours" If Shearer is getting as much leeway in how the club will be run, then he's being given the dream ticket of having the biggest of says in the club he manages - that's the kind of job very few people turn down. So it would make sense for him to take the reigns. Plus, it would take nothing short of a Benoit-esque self-destruction for his reputation to slide in the eyes of Newcastle fans, I'm sure. If correct, it's a very shrewd move for Shearer. And if it goes tits up, blame Ashley. EDIT: It's being confirmed on the BBC.
  23. The new England Shirt (apparently) Spoiler: Click here to view My god. They just couldn't have been any lazier if this is true.
