  1. Won't help them any. Gasol can't move any more.
  2. Dwyane Wade's shot to beat the Warriors tonight is pure amazing and what basketball is all about.
  3. Isn't he a free agent this summer? Or have a player option?
  4. There's plenty of stories out there of Stockton playing pickup games at Gonzage and still being the dominant player on the court, even in his fifties.
  5. Thank you, @Jasonmufc for researching Stockton's assists and not just believing that he had the benefit of home cooking. Like you mentioned, his assists on the road were 10.1 per game, while at home it was 10.9 per game. It's always made me laugh when people have tried to discredit him that way. @DMN, I have to agree that context does matter and your explanation was excellent. Magic truly was a great player, tragically cut short. I would still think that Stockton would have the assists record, even if Magic had played a full career. Kareem was already gone, Worthy was breaking down, unless they had traded for another All-Star, I see Magic as firmly in second in assists. Anyway, to get this back on track, my hot take for today...steroids made baseball a lot more fun to watch and follow in the 90s then it is now.
  6. @DMN, Magic's height I think is my main problem with putting him at number one. Now-a-days, height at the point guard spot is a lot more common than it was back in the 80s/90s. Magic had a major advantage over other PGs. I wouldn't say that Stockton playing over 600 more games and yet having less per game stats is a major deal. If Magic didn't get HIV and had played more years, his stats per game probably would be lower too. And you mentioned earlier that Jordan had a short career, and that was a knock against him. Wouldn't Magic having an even shorter career be a knock against him too, regardless of circumstance? Nash's prime was probably better than Stockton and Thomas, but it was super short. I can't put him above Stockton or Thomas because of that. Top five point guard of all time, however.
  7. I will admit to having a very big hometown bias towards Stockton. I even have a tribute wall to him in a spare bedroom. He's my favorite player ever. Saying that, him, Thomas, and Johnson are the top three point guards ever. Nobody can convince me what order they go in and I wouldn't dare try to come up with a way to. Three totally different players, three totally different play styles. Want a scorer? Go with Thomas. Want a play maker? Go with Stockton. Want the all-around game? Go with Johnson.
  8. Reading that made me feel how my wife must feel when I try to explain American Football to her.
  9. @GhostMachine I wouldn't really say that any of Kobe's teams were a "super team" besides the year they lost to the Pistons. They were great teams for sure, but didn't have more then three future hall of famers at any more, or really any all stars outside of Kobe, Gasol, and Shaq. If his team was a super team, it's because of him being on it. @It's Pronounced Zoom-E while I agree that Lebron mostly gets by using his athletic ability, he's still a great basketball player without it. To me, he's just lacking that drive to win every single game that some of the other all time greats had.
  10. @DMN, like I said in my post, I was young when Jordan was playing, but i saw plenty of his games. Both on TV and was lucky enough to even see him play in person during the Finals. His game did have flaws, everybody's does but his strengths, for the time period he played in, and how he was able to evolve his game during his career, plus take two years off, and still be able to come back and play at the level he did, sets him apart from those other players you named. I would also rank Kobe above Lebron, but maybe that is becoming a hot take?
  11. This is only a hot take for people who grew up with Kobe and Lebron and only have seen highlights of Jordan or a full game here and there. I wasn't super old when Jordan was playing and actually hated him and refused to admit that he's the GOAT. I would always say that he was the greatest of his era but Wilt and Russell were right there with him. Talent wise, I would argue that Kobe and LeBron are right up there with Jordan. But what sets Jordan apart from Kobe and Kobe apart from Lebron is his competitivish (is that a word? If not, I'm making it up now.) Jordan never wanted to lose, never wanted to take a day off, made his teammates hate him if they were playing up to his standard, never wanted to make a super team, hell, he was a super team. I laugh now a days when I see people trying to argue that Jordan isn't the best ever. Like you said, he's so far ahead of everybody else, it is laughable.
  12. To me, if you can compete in something, train in something, and it takes either athletic skill or mental skill, it can be considered a sport. Definitely a hot take here. Kyrie and Durant are much better players than Melo and Amare were. The Knicks will be a top team if they somehow managed to sign those two, but I don't see it happening.
  13. Basketball, when played as a team sport and not a one-on-one hero fest, is the most exciting sport to watch. The MLB season is way too long.
  14. Harden complaining about the referees is great. If anybody has no right whatsoever to complain, its him.
  15. It is a pretty funny thing to think of somebody that rich doing. Nobody was making a joke about the girls involved and if it comes out that Kraft knew the girls were being held prisoner there, than yes, fuck him.
  16. Patriots owner Robert Kraft has been charged with 2 counts of solicitation after a prostitution sting.
  17. I think mine was just bad luck. Had three city-states to the north of me that I could have easily taken out but had three barb camps that all aggro'd at basically the same time. And right as I managed to take care of all of them, one of the two civs to the south of me surprised warred me and I had to send what troops I had to battle them. I managed to save my capital from them but that was only because I managed to convince the other civ there to join my side. By the time the war ended, I had enough cities established and unlocked the Hansa, and didn't need the city states any more.
  18. Umm..yea...totally meant to type Hurricanes. Even double checked the source to make sure it was the Hurricanes owner. Habit to just type Panthers after Carolina, I guess. And the article I read was unclear if that $250 million was to get through week 2 or the rest if the season. Either way, probably a good thing they didn't give Kaepernick that $20 million contract he wanted.
  19. Apparently the AAF was super close to folding this weekend, but the owner of the Carolina Panthers put $250 million into it to help out.
  20. Ugh, I just started a game as Germany planning om doing this. But instead of being able to attack the city-states around me, I had mass amounts of barbarian camps spawn all around me and had to take care of them. By the time I had taken care of them and turned to the City-States, i had the AI surprise war me from the other side and the City-States had already started to spam out units like crazy.
  21. Civ VI is a completely different game when compared to Civ IV. Outside of just watching a Let's Play on YouTube (I would recommend Quill18), the best advice I could give is just to forget anything you know about Civ and dive right into the game. Play on an easier difficulty to get used to the new game mechanics and just enjoy the ride.
  22. Yep. I never thought it was about the money for Kaepernick, he always made it seem like it was about actually making a change and proving that the NFL and its owners was in the wrong. Reports are saying that its between $40 and $80 million so I don't blame him, but I've lost respect for him.
  23. So...nothing changes but those two are richer and the NFL is a little poorer?
  24. About time. Still won't be enough to keep Davis. I wonder if it was in respond to him not trading Davis?
  25. Nah. They will sneak in. Clippers aren't going to make the playoffs, I can easily see the Jazz not making it either. LeBron will go on a tear after the All-Star break and pull the Lakers into the playoffs.
