Pooker

Thanks to Denver and Portland both winning tonight, Houston has dropped to fourth and will face the Jazz in the first round. As a Jazz fan, I'm actually happy about this. Facing Portland would have been easier to move on to the second round, but if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.

Mainly for his play against the Jazz. I can remember quite a few times Dirk had a dirty foul on either Matt Harping and Andrei Kirilenko. And all the great games he had against us.

Can I rant about Rimworld for a minute? Been trying the naked brutality scenario lately. First time, using the prepare carefully mod, made a character that had good shooting, cooking, construction, and growing skills. Got an pretty good colony going, up to three people. One died one rescue mission. Oops. Second died after being hunted by a cougar. Got another person to join. He was attacked by a man hunting muffalo. While he was downed, I stupidly tried to draw away the muffalo with my first character but he was downed too. Time to start over. This time, I decided to try a cannibal. Had a pretty good start, lots of food, was pretty good defensive wise. Had a second character join who was also a cannibal. She was a great researcher but was also non-violent. Sent my first guy off to do a quick mining job on the far side of the map. And had a wild boar go into man hunter mode, heading right for him. Probably could have ran away, but I thought I could fight him off. I was wrong. My guy went down. The boar went off on his way. Thought I could save him using the non-violent character. She picked him up, was almost to the base, and the boar came back. She couldn't get away and the boar killed her. Oh well. Going to try the lost tribe this time.

The league just won't be the same without Dirk or Wade. I've both loved and hated Dirk during his career. Wade was always a pleasure to watch. Magic stepping down is hilarious. Not telling Buss about it is even better. Just proves that just because you were a great player doesn't mean you can put together a great team.

I don't know why everybody is freaking out about the Lakers. The NBA will rig the draft lottery so that the Lakers get the first pick, they'll get their other superstar in Zion, sign a few key players, and be back on top next year.

LA would have been much better off just signing Lebron and letting him play with the young guys. No Rondo, Lance, or McGee. Until New York gets a new owner, one you can completely change the culture of that team, they're screwed. Even if KD and Kyrie sign there this summer, they still wouldn't have the pieces around them to compete for the title. And both players would hate dealing with the New York media. It would just be a disaster waiting to happen. @DMN, glad you posted that Korver piece. Everybody needs to read it, not just basketball fans. He brings up some extremely good view points, including a few I've never seen/read before. Also, if you haven't already, there's a video the Jazz put out of Korver, Niang, Udoh, and Thabo speaking about racism. It's quite a good watch.

I don't know how to feel about that on-call. To me, he clearly lost control of it. Which shouldn't be a double dribble. But since another player didn't touch it to cause him to lose control, he shouldn't be able to pick it up and dribble again I guess I get why the referee didn't call it but I can see why people are upset that it was a no call. The foul on the three pointer, however, was clearly a foul. No idea why people are complaining about that one.

That was a hell of a finish. Rare that you see a game won with free throws!

Makes sense. At least you have a couple good reasons to hate them. Most people seem to hate them just because it's the cool thing to do. I've never been to the campus but from your description of it, I would probably end up hating it.

I'm more of a University of Utah fan but since we typically don't have that great of a basketball team, I've always rooted for Duke in the tournament. I've always liked Coach K. I've never understood the hate Duke gets. I was talking to my sister in law last weekend about her hatred for Duke and all she could say was she didn't like Coach K but couldn't give me a reason why. I'm really hoping the NBA does away with the age limit. Let the top players go right to the NBA if they want to right out of high school. It's not like them playing one year of college ball is doing them any good.

Well, fuck. Hell of a game. It's a shame all three of Duke's freshmen are leaving. One and done really sucks the fun out of college ball.

Lakers are shutting LeBron down for the rest of the season.

Feel bad for the kid that missed that last shot...but man, what a finish! Two in a row like that for Duke. Like Zion said after the game, this is madness.

Booker played great last night. Hopefully they can get some talent around him this summer. Also, a devastating blow for the Blazers last night. Hate to see any player go down like that, especially one playing as good as Nurkic has been.

Jimmer Fredette got a standing ovation tonight in Utah. And then proceeded to shoot 1-10. Say what you will about him, but he will always be loved in Utah.

I wouldn't be surprised if he came back towards the end of this season. But definitely agree that he will have a Wrestlemania match in two years.

For some odd reason, it makes me so happy that he is still playing. I would love for him to sign with the Jazz this summer and finish off his career here.

Well, yeah, I just thought that if Kaepernick thought that he actually had a case, he would have either held out for more money, or taken them to trail.

Reports are coming out saying that the NFL paid less than $10 million to Kaepernick and Eric Reid to settle their cases. Maybe Kaepernick didnt have quite that good of a case?

It's funny how obsessed Jazz fans still are with him. Every comment I read is a variant of why the Jazz won't sign him. But really, as an end of bench player, he wouldn't be that bad of a pick up for most teams.

The Phoenix Suns have signed Jimmer Fredette for two years.
