Manny Ramirez (BOS) to the Los Angeles Dodgers Jason Bay (PIT) to the Boston Red Sox Craig Hansen (BOS), Brandon Moss (BOS), Bryan Morris (LAD), and Andy LaRoche (LAD) to Pittsburgh Pirates I am pumped that the Dodgers got Manny for next to nothing. Bay will work well with all the protection in the Boston lineup while Pittsburgh, well, the LaRoche brothers can play together possibly.

The Houston Rockets now own the second longest winning streak in NBA History at 21 games, after beating the Bobcats last night. This is an astounding run they've been on, alot without Yao Ming, but honestly I think it'll hurt them come playoff time. Tracy McGrady can't carry an entire team by himself through even a first round of the playoffs as he's shown on more than one occasion so I personally don't forsee a Colorado Rockies-esque run to the Finals for H-Town. With that being said, I hope Houston does well and they create an even more exciting Western Conference playoffs than already expected.

Dallas is trying to keep up with the West by getting Jason Kidd. The only snag? Devean George and his no trade clause. What I want to know is how in the blue hell did Devean George get a no-trade in his contract?

If they want to ease any of the young kids into a full rotation spot they can use Freddy Kruger...I mean Julian Tavarez as the #5 early on in the season. There are also some serviceable pitchers still on the market that could be had on the cheap. Livan Hernandez, Josh Fogg, and Kyle Lohse (unless he doesn't come off his 10 mill a year pedestal) aren't going to set the world on fire but if you don't want to burn Buchholz, Lester, and Masterson out they'd do. And if Schilling knew even an inkling that he was hurt before he signed his new deal, he's a dirtbag.

Gasol will fit in perfectly in Phil Jackson's triangle offense. I heard on the radio that Memphis is starting to shed cap (Stromile Swift is on the outs too) so that they can eventually sell the team without having massive startup contracts on the books for new owners. With Stoudamire taken care of and Gasol and Swift elsewhere, Memphis doesn't have a single player making over 10 mill a year. Mike Miller makes 9 mill and change, Darko makes 7 mill, and Brian Cardinal (ugh) makes 6.2 mill. None of the three though are signed past 2010. Memphis is more than likely going to stink out the joint until then but if ownership's plans are to sell, they are trying to soften the cost substantially. Speaking of stinking out the joint, the Knicks kill me. Jamal Crawford missed his last 13 shots but they consistently ran plays for him and gave him crucial shots in crucial times. I know he has been one of the few bright spots for this team so far this season but come on now. The guy didn't hit the rim for a whole quarter and you're banking on him to win you the game. Just sad.

It seemed as it pertains to Santana when the Yankees balked on including both Hughes and Kennedy and bowed out of the sweepstakes, the Red Sox felt no real need to pursue Johan anymore. Guerra and Mulvey are top notch prospects. Humber is a 5th starter at best. I'm really surprised the Twins took Carlos Gomez over Fernando Martinez. All in all I think Johan will dominate even more in the NL and this propels the Mets to the top of the East if not the entire NL.

Yunel Escobar's emergence at SS for Atlanta made the banged up Renteria expendable. Not only that, they got two high quality prospects for him. Jair Jurrjens could be in Atlanta's rotation next year and Gorkys Hernandez could fill the void (not power-wise though) in center field filled by the expected departure of Andruw Jones either at the end of this season or next year. As for Joe Torre possibly to the Dodgers, I am all for it. If A-Rod tagged along as well, I'd be cool with it but he better step his game up if LA is going to be a serious contender...something I've been waiting for for quite a long time.

Kudos to the Sox even though I wanted Colorado to win. Boston just imposed their will on the Rockies, they didn't stand a chance. I thought at the beginning of the season that Boston's pitching wouldn't hold up. Damn was I wrong. Beckett signed at a bargain 10 mill per and that bullpen emerging into one of the best in recent memory, this team is one to be reckoned with for the next 5 years at the least.

And after losing two in a row in convincing fashion, Cleveland gets hit with the bomb that Paul Byrd bought $25K of HGH from that Florida clinic. Cleveland just can't buy a break, and they looked sullen towards the end of the game last night. Unless Matsuzaka implodes early (which could conceivably happen), Cleveland is dead in the water.

Two walkoffs in one night...how can you go wrong. That whole gnat infestation in Cleveland was repulsive. Chamberlain's entire neck was covered in no less than 30 seconds. The OFF was ineffective. Just like Joba's ability to throw a strike. I was preparing for the Sox/Angels game to go extras to but Manny, did he know that was gone instantly or what? The funniest part in my opinion that it took so long to sink in for K-Rod that he had to wait for Manny to get down the third base line before he went to the dugout as he passed. Two incredible games, I would've rather seen the Angels win theirs but it doesn't take away from the spectacular nature of both.

Both Holliday and Rollins have had spectacular seasons. If either of them won the MVP it wouldn't be too bad. Funny to see how the last crazy week of the season and the Phillies storming into the playoffs and the Rockies coming out of nowhere pretty much knocked Prince Fielder and his 50 homers out of the MVP conversation.
