  1. Wow that much cash for Bobby Simmons when you already have a player like that on your roster (Desmond Mason) is pretty steep. All the power to them trying to try to show some effort in bringing in talent after last season's abysmal showing but I can't speak for Bucks fans but I'm sure they realize that last season's poor showing was primarily to be blamed on a rash of injuries. All this spending is going a tad overboard for a team like Milwaukee. Should be a fun team to watch though.
  2. I went to an Angels/Mariners game during Ichiro's rookie season and if he's hitting BP pitches he can really crank them. He plays to his strengths (speed and bat control) during the game but in a situation such as a Home Run Derby I don't think he'd embarass himself. While I am talking about embarassing, I have given up on the Dodgers. And Derek Lowe. But the worst is when your lefty specialist hurts himself warming up in the bullpen right before he is coming in to face the most lethal lefty in the opposition's lineup with the game tied. The result was a bomb of a home run and enough profanity coming out of my mouth to fill the pages of a novel.
  3. Yeah Hughes has agreed to terms which is basically signing without the signature. And I thought nobody this off-season would sign on to be LeBron's second fiddle but to my surprise the Cavs got a defensive/scoring dynamo in Hughes and just made the Cavaliers a lot better and the Wizards a bit worse as I don't think that Washington was expected to make a big investment in the market this offseason outside of Hughes. At least they have Jamison and Arenas locked up.
  4. Any decently rated reliever can serve as a closer, it was smart to dump Wagner making that much per season. Gagne got hurt in my Dodgers season (just like real life sadly) and Wilson Alvarez stepped in for me and was filthy. There are a lot of good players to be had for cheap just make sure you have the resources to pay them once their contracts expire.
  5. The reason I think so many high schoolers went in the second round was because of the whole developmental league setup. The teams in the first round wanted impact instead of projects and that allowed players that were projected as first rounders to fall behind some proven college players. With Andray Blatche specifically, if I heard the telecast correctly, he pissed off alot of teams by refusing workouts and only having a 30 minute timed interview. That caused him to drop from where I saw him going (Seattle at #25) all the way to Wizards at #49.
  6. Foulke not only allowed the runs in the ninth but he also allowed the two runners he inherited from Mike Timlin in the 8th inning to score. Any way you slice it Keith Foulke has been horrendous this season. And I know he threw alot of pitches last night but no Foulke today as Timlin shut them down in the 9th to pick up his first save of the season. And the Dodgers won!!! But speaking of shaky closers, Brazoban...he's my Foulke, I'm nervous when I see him getting up in the bullpen.
  7. Panic when you've watched the movie Snakeater with Lorenzo Lamas (of "Renegade" notoriety) more than once. God does that movie suck but the one liners make me laugh. Crappy movies can draw me in if it has something I can quote from it for like a month.
  8. Wow. Boston needs some serious bullpen help and FAST. It's only a matter of time before the "Keith Foulke sucks" chants start and he's rained with boos every time he starts warming up in the pen. I know many a Red Sox fan and each of them cringe whenever there is a remote chance Foulke is going to come into the game. USE MIKE TIMLIN, TERRY!
  9. Who did they draft? I don't know nothing about it yet. ←
  10. The Knicks draft wasn't too bad for me. They picked the guy that most Knicks fans thought was going to be the pick at 8 in Channing Frye but David Lee at 30. I never thought of him to be above pick 50. And Dijon Thompson in the 2nd round I think he'll open some eyes the way another UCLA product Trevor Ariza did last year. Biggest Steals: IND- Danny Granger, New Mexico (#17), BOS- Gerald Green, Gulf Shores Academy TX (#18), MEM- Hakim Warrick, Syracuse (#19), TOR- Roko Ukic, KK Split (#41), ORL- Martynas Andriuskevicius, Zalgiris Kaunas (#44) Biggest Reaches/Wastes of a Pick: TOR- Charlie Villanueva, UCONN (#7), GS- Ike Diogu, Arizona State (#9), DET- Jason Maxiell, Cincinatti (#26), NY- David Lee, Florida (#30), LAC- Daniel Ewing, Duke (#32) Good Luck finding work: Kelenna Azubuike (Kentucky), Randolph Morris (Kentucky), Anthony Roberson (Florida), Matt Walsh (Florida), Daryl Dorsey (Brevard County CC), Sean Banks (Memphis)
  11. Bruce Willis (Die Hard, Hostage, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Last Man Standing, The Last Boy Scout, etc.) Tom Cruise (The Last Samurai, Collateral, Risky Business, etc.) Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski, Arlington Road, Tron, etc.) Just keep "The Kid" and "Cocktail" away from me, those movies suck.
  12. I've never been a real big hockey fan but as a casual fan I'm glad to have hockey negotiations looking on the up and up. Hockey is a sport that just draws people to it but can't keep as wide of a fan base as the other professional sports. If I'm in a place and a hockey game and a basketball game is on, at first there will be more people watching the b-ball game but slowly over time the crowd shifts. I never understood it but it happens. The hockey playoffs are also the hardest contested games I've seen in any sport which draws me in.
  13. Wow, this trade was much worse for the Suns. Thomas doesn't even fit in their package, not to mention that he is past whatever talent he had. ←
  14. The Pistons looked last night like they had never been there before. San Antonio gave them so many opportunities to put them away and the Pistons just didn't capitalize. Congrats to the Spurs and their fans, I still loathe the team but you deserve this Championship. Tim Duncan as MVP though, I saw that coming. He just had to show up to take that bad boy home with him.
  15. This list also sucks because none of the quotes feature swears...except for the controversial Gone With the Wind saying DAMN...Oh you've gone too far. I know that was big like 50 years ago but seriously some of these movies shouldn't even have one quote nevermind 3 or 4. Here is my 5 favorite in no particular order. Bruce Willis (Die Hard)- Yipikiya Mother Fucker. Samuel L. Jackson (Rules of Engagement)- Yes they deserved to die and I hope they burn in hell! Robert DeNiro (Meet the Parents)- Are you a pothead, Focker? Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte (48 Hours)- Jack tell me a bedtime story. FUCK YOU. Oh that's my favorite. John Goodman (The Big Lebowski)- Donnie you're out of your element!
  16. The Finals take up the least amount of TV time of any of the big 3 sports finales. The World Series takes forever and is seemingly everywhere and the Super Bowl build up is sickening. I'm glad the Finals went this long as it forced me to watch the last two games which were actually good.
  17. Why trade Kurt Thomas? Seriously. So they can put another guy on the floor who can only shoot and do nothing else. Kurt Thomas though playing against people bigger than him night in and night out is the only person on the Knicks that gets boards consistently. If this goes down I'm calling for Zeke's resignation!
  18. You would think after an RBI double, an intentional walk, and a 3-run hit by Bernie, it'd be time for a new pitcher. REALLY might want to go to the bullpen after Posada hits a 2-run shot...but you leave him in even when the next two batters hit singles? If you don't want to manage, fine, but sheesh, don't let the kid get murdered out there. ←
  19. This Dodgers team finds new ways to play with my emotions every game. They've all developed Derek Lowe syndrome. And by they I mean the entire pitching staff. Every time a call goes against them or someone makes an error, at least two runs have to come in. It's almost a guarantee at this point. It's sad now that the guy that scares me the least when he comes out of the bullpen is the guy that used to scare me the most, Giovanni Carrara. At least the rest of the division keeps losing for the most part. And on a second mini-rant, Jeff Weaver sucks. Thank you.
  20. I started watching Game 5 (and my first time watching the finals at all) late in the 4th quarter when the reruns of Family Guy were over on Cartoon Network. But in retrospect I'm glad I turned to it. That was a thrilling finish and overtime for two teams that usually make me doze off. There are just two complaints I have. I just find it kinda pathetic that you can't give the ball to your best player (Tim Duncan) down the stretch because he can't hit a free throw to save himself. And the other, who the hell leaves the inbounder on the play that Horry hit the game winner on? Rasheed Wallace must've been high because that is almost a golden rule late in the game "Don't leave the inbounder after he passes the ball in." Especially when is 4-5 from 3!! The even worse thing is that Sheed didn't even try to recover he kinda just stood there with his thumb up his ass as Billups rushed at Horry with futility. Great end of the game though, makes me wish I watched the whole thing.
