  1. Yeah all those off-season moves are really paying off for the Knicks. This team is difficult to watch. They are getting physically dominated by the likes of the Warriors and the Trailblazers. Granted both teams are much improved but the Knicks just out and out suck. This team will never get under the cap so they will just continue to take on marginal players with crappy contracts. This will perpetuate their sucking for years to come. Thank God I have more options for games to watch because I will not watch this team for a great while.
  2. Los Angeles Dodgers Paul Bako, C- decent backup catcher but no tears will be shed if he is gone Elmer Dessens, RHP (m)- is never healthy and when he is is very inconsistent and doesn't have a defined role in either the rotation or the bullpen Darren Dreifort, RHP- Dodger management should be doing backflips now that this hideous contract is over, let him go, and his 21332 elbow surgeries or whatever Jose Valentin, 3B- LA needs a better third baseman than this but in spots last year while healthy Valentin showed bright spots...I'd bring him back as a last resort Jeff Weaver, RHP- this guy makes me pull my hair out...it'll be a 2 hitter with 11 strikeouts one game than the next he wont make it past the third inning, he's probably going to command more money than he should but if he could get some type of mental directioning from somebody like Hershiser I'd say bring him back FA's I'd like the Dodgers to consider Bengie Molina,C, LA Angels- The Dodgers got run on so much last year, Molina could stop that and provide better pop than Jason Phillips in my opinion Paul Konerko, 1B, Chicago White Sox- Hee Seop Choi is not the answer, let Konerko come in and have a reputable first baseman for the first time in several years Guillermo Mota, RHP, Florida Marlins Danys Baez, RHP, Tampa Bay Devil Rays B.J. Ryan, LHP, Baltimore Orioles any other decent relief pitcher.... sure up that bullpen, because without Gagne that pen is in shambles, Brazoban can't close, Sanchez is better suited for the 7th or 8th innings and if I have to see Steve Schmoll or Kelly Wunsch in the same game again I am going to punch my TV.
  3. I need something else to talk about rather than the playoffs so I thought awards predictions may be in order... AL MVP- Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees NL MVP- Andruw Jones, Atlanta Braves AL Cy Young- Bartolo Colon, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim NL Cy Young- Chris Carpenter, St. Louis Cardinals AL Rookie of the Year- Robinson Cano, New York Yankees NL Rookie of the Year- Ryan Howard, Philadelphia Phillies AL Manager of the Year- Ozzie Guillen, Chicago White Sox NL Manager of the Year- Bobby Cox, Atlanta Braves
  4. I have lost a lot of faith in the sport of boxing lately. With the decision in the Peter/Klitschko fight and the snorefest that was Tarver/Jones Jr., I am very skeptical about ordering a fight on PPV or even setting time aside in my day to watch it on HBO or Showtime. The sport of boxing needs an epic fight real quick to earn some of my trust back.
  5. If Garret Anderson was half the outfielder he used to be, that Cano bases clearing double does not happen. Instead the Yanks go up 3-0, giving Mussina a cushion to allow him to have his first good start in like a month. Wang in Game 2, the Angels should pummel him. Figgins just needs to get on base once and run all over this kid. And I wouldn't be surprised if the Red Sox put a hurting on Buerhle today after yesterdays 2 TD to a safety defeat at the hands of the White Sox. He's been kinda shaky lately and the Red Sox are pissed.
  6. Why Isiah? Why do you make me cringe every time I read the New York Knicks transaction report? Eddy Curry coming to New York sounded like a good idea, LAST YEAR when it wasn't a possibility that he could have the same heart problem that killed both Reggie Lewis and Hank Gathers. Didn't you just draft a center (Channing Frye) and pay an exorbitant amount of money to another (Jerome James)? Why trade away a player who came into his own in the Knicks offense last year (Tim Thomas) and one of your best rebounders (Mike Sweetney) for a guy who may possibly collapse on the court? And to make matters worse the deal is for reportedly 6 years, $55 million. The Bulls were ready to offer this guy a retirement package of $20 million over the next 50 years of his life and the Knicks are trading three players to get him and signing him to a the longest term contract you can sign a player to. Why don't you just extend Penny Hardaway's contract so the Knicks NEVER EVER get close to the cap number. I am not asking to get under the cap, just shed some salary for once.
  7. Wow, the Rockies put a HURTING on the Padres last night 20-1. The ever so comical moment of a position player occured and grew even funnier as Matt Holliday hit an absolute bomb off of Sean Burroughs. Reading the box score of this game prompted me to watch the highlights. The fucking highlight package was almost 3 minutes long. It was that much of a beatdown.
  8. Nice win for the Dodgers last night. Taking 2 out of 3 from Atlanta in Atlanta is big seeing how San Diego continues to lose almost as often as the Royals. Wow, whoever thought that a team 10 games under .500 would be only 4 games out of first come August? Pretty sad.
  9. Matt Cassel has already gotten more playing time this preseason with the Pats than his entire career at USC. He has played pretty well and just goes to show that the Patriots, no matter how much I hate them, draft well and everybody that goes to USC these days is nasty.
  10. I'll make the back to back again with... Kevin Curtis, WR St. Louis Rams and Reuben Droughns, RB Cleveland Browns
  11. Nets pull out of Abdur-Rahim deal and the Kings pick him up. I don't what the Nets were thinking as Shareef is still a solid 3-4 combo. And the T'Wolves finally got rid of Sammy Cassell for two younger point guards in Marko Jaric and Lionel Chalmers. The Clippers also got a first round pick out of the deal. After last season the only role Sam Cassell should play in LA is a mentor to Shaun Livingston since Clipppers management is convinced he will be the point guard for a long time. Or in usual Clippers' style, until his contract runs out.
  12. With the Bears' QB carousel last year, there is no real gauge on what the Bears plan to do in response to Rex Grossman getting injured AGAIN. Last year they went even as far as to bring Jeff George in to the frey. I haven't seen any of Kyle Orton yet (outside of college games of course) but I know for sure that Chad Hutchinson is a bum. And if I had to choose a QB off that list of FA's, I'd probably go with Jeff Blake. He could help some of these young receivers out and I think him and Muhsin Muhammad would be a decent QB/WR combo.
  13. I tried Superstar Mode a couple of times but I always seem to end up on the Jaguars so I gave up on that. For all the complaining about the vision and precision passing I see it as an attempt by a video game to try to do something for the cornerbacks. In past Maddens I could rack up receiving yards with one guy by just chucking it over and over at him. Now I have to look him off or throw it low or behind him, and that's if I haven't been sacked already. Yeah, it's a pain in the ass at the beginning but I've seem to got used to it after getting pissed off with all the picks I threw. And oh yeah the made the Colts D just as shitty as in real life. WOO HOO!
  14. I don't think this latest thing coming out of Eagles' camp is going to keep them from winning the division but I am not as sold as I used to be on them being a lock for it. With Pinkston now out and T.O. taking his ball and going home will put a damper on the whole offense. But as long as McNabb and Westbrook are around and at least one receiver steps up (Brown, McMullen, Lewis) they should be fine. T.O. will play come the season opener and will be the #1 receiver no matter how much of baby he is right now.
  15. Though I am not fond of either team, this White Sox/Yankees series was a very good one. The Sox took out Rivera today in his second inning of work for the first run he's given up in like 3 months. All one run games and the White Sox showed good resilience even though they have a rough stretch with the Red Sox, Twins, and the Yankees again on the schedule over the next 15 or so.
  16. In War Zone, me and my brother made up like four extra members of DX. The worst of these four would have had to have been X-Fat. He had the grubbiest move set and moved ridiculously slow. Oh yeah and in Smackdown vs Raw, my friend created R. Kelly. That's not the bad thing though, he created the girl that got pissed on by him as well and gave her Goldberg's entrance so it came off with the illusion that she was being pissed on. It was funny at the time but we were a little bit deep in the alcohol department.
  17. It's a real shame that it came to this. This show was one of the funniest sketch comedy shows ever and even if it didn't suit you I'm sure you tuned in at least once and at one point in the show or another, laughed. I'm glad it has done it's work though for all of the other actors on the show. Charlie Murphy and all the others now are out on full fledged comedy tours all because of the exposure they received on Chappelle's Show. I just hope that this whole emotional breakdown doesn't keep Dave from going out on the road sometime soon. I've seen him live before and he was funnier there than he ever was on the show.
  18. ESPN.com That's a serious blow to them given how thin they are at WR after you triple team TO. McNabb is the Madden coverboy is he not? Looks like this year his whole team is cursed, much like last year. Though Ray did get injured at the end of the year. ←
  19. I'll make my back to back picks right now... Patrick Ramsey, QB Redskins Anthony Becht, TE Buccaneers
  20. I am the biggest Barry Bonds hater in the world but sometimes players late in their careers tailor their swings for more home runs and for power because their bat speed has diminished and their batting averages are lower. For instance, Steve Finley was primarily a doubles/speed guy throughout most of his career but in the past few years he's been more of a HR guy. Same with Luis Gonzalez, he went from a slap hitter for average to a guy who hit 57 in a season. Not saying that Bonds didn't roid up because alot of signs point to him being on steroids I'm just stating the fact that it isn't that unnatural of an occurence for a player's power #'s to jump a bit later in his career as a way to keep themselves in the league.
  21. The NBA Free Agent Moratorium ends at noon ET today. HOORAY The Knicks signed...oh its only Jerome James. Hooray to Knicks management though for thinking about getting rid of Allan Houston. Kudos.
  22. LOCKS FOR THE HALL OF FAME: Roger Clemens Greg Maddux Rickey Henderson Ken Griffey Jr. Barry Bonds Alex Rodriguez Tony Gwynn Cal Ripken Jr. Randy Johnson SECOND BALLOT MAY BE THE CHARM: Derek Jeter Mark McGwire Rafael Palmeiro Mariano Rivera ON THE FENCE RIGHT NOW: Goose Gossage Bruce Sutter Jim Rice Don Mattingly Lee Smith WILL BE ON THE FENCE WHEN THEIR TIME COMES AROUND: Edgar Martinez Andres Galaragga Tim Raines
  23. At the end of PTI yesterday Tony Reali (Statboy if you will) brought up the interesting stat that he had something like 1 home run in his first 100ish at-bats and almost 20 in his next 250, hmmmmm. Whatever I knew the day would come where a big named superstar would get nailed for it. I just found it funny that the lead of every sport's show that night was Palmeiro's testimony in front of Congress. "I did not take steroids...PERIOD!" You just kept yourself from being a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame.
