  1. Ben Gordon is filthy but he's just too inconsistent. Alot of that has to do with Skiles rotation but it will be a 25 point game followed by a 6 point game almost every time with Gordon. I think that Gordon should be starting over Duhon even though Duhon is better on D. I think Duhon would be the better sixth man.
  2. Just for the length of time they actually kept him on TV that takes the cake but I think the worst guy that I've seen so far was the guy who tried to sing "Thriller." He didn't have Leroy's incessant charisma so he got tossed rather quickly but this guy was so much worse. The judges couldn't even laugh it was so bad.
  3. It was the classic football player/dork situation. The football player kept going after the kid even though when Kurt Angle came up to him with the dorky kid the football player looked like he was going to shit his pants 4 times over. Angle was nice about it but the football player was like a 2 yr. old. Once the adults were gone, just start doing whatever you were doing again. It's like that at almost every high school though because 95% of football players think they are King Shit of Fuck Mountain and can do whatever they want because they play football.
  4. I know this is a couple of days but I just felt the urge to rejoice in the departure of Hideo Nomo from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Back in the mid-90's, this guy was one of my favorite players on the team. Even when he came back to LA a couple years back I was happy about it. But after last year, I wanted Nomo out at any cost. Luckily the Tampa Bay Devil Rays decided to give him a whirl with a minor league deal. Now I know it's not good to jump off a bandwagon just because a guy/team starts to go downhill but Nomo didn't go downhill, he fell off the fucking cliff. Every Dodgers game with him on the mound led to massive amounts of cringing and trying to guess how far the last home run just went. Don't get me wrong I wish the guy the best in Tampa but Hideo needs to hang 'em up soon if last season is any indication of what he has left in the tank.
  5. Qyntel "I couldn't get minutes in Portland" Woods. Yeah good addition. I never saw what NBA scouts saw in this guy. He's not a good shooter and when he takes a smaller player down low posting up, he doesn't have any moves to get a decent shot off on him. And it doesn't look too good when you can't get PT over perennial underachievers Darius Miles and Travis Outlaw. Oh well I hope a new setting turns his career around. And with the Pistons, I don't think they are the same team as they were last year. Even though their roster is somewhat upgraded, they don't seem to play with the same fire and urgency that they did last year. I know they will probably turn the after-burners on at the end of the season like they did last year but every time I watch the Pistons I cringe and say to myself "These are the champions?" And after getting thwacked by the Clippers a couple of days ago, the Lakers get more good news. Kobe could miss TEN more games even with the All-Star break on the horizon. HOORAY IRA NEWBLE!
  6. LeBron came 1 rebound shy of a triple double again last night even though he screwed up his ankle a little bit. After that he relied on his jumper and did very well with it. Is it just me or do the Suns seem to have at least three guys over 20 points in every game. That team is filthy. Shaq dropped 33 on the Raptors after saying earlier that he didn't know who Rafael Araujo was so he didn't care. Seems like he didn't need to. Rafy only scored 2 points and had 4 boards, all meaningless. C'mon Big Diesel though, you need to shoot better than 35% (7-20) from the line. That's hideous. And finally I watched about 10 minutes of the Detroit/Denver game. God does Denver suck. George Karl will do no good there. They just run and gun, except they have no shooters. But hey Darko got two minutes...and two turnovers.
  7. If you are talking about the Ghost World with Steve Buscemi, Scarlett Johannson, and Thora Birch in it. That's a good movie. Having HBO has allowed me to see many high quality under the radar movies as well as enough crap to last me a lifetime. All I have to say is that I saw "The Base 2: Guilty as Charged", "The Adventures of Pluto Nash", and "Rocky 5" within the course of a week. Why you ask? Look where I live.
  8. I saw a commercial for this show a couple of days ago. This guy has not been able to keep himself a steady job since the NBA on NBC went under. He ran the SlamBall league for the first year than it went under than he made guest appearances on the NBA TNT show than I saw him with Jim Lampley every time I flipped on Jim Rome is Burning. Now this... Pat GO AWAY! If your kid is so fucked up that you are calling Pat Croce in to help you, you need to really reassess your life options. Move and don't leave a forwarding address or something...
  9. Even though it was on Comedy Central last weekend, a movie that a lot of people don't know about that I enjoy is Out Cold. It is kind of moronic but I find Zach Galifanakis very funny and overall the movie just works for me. And for anybody who cares it is about a bunch of snowboard people who work in an Alaskan ski resort who have to fight back against the potential new owner, Lee Majors.
  10. Jimmy Jackson didn't report to New Orleans at all because he didn't want to play on a team in the cellar of the NBA. He basically held out until he got traded. New Orleans didn't want to give him what he wanted by trading him to Miami. In my opinion they did him better though by trading him to Phoenix. He lost over $300,000 in pay (through fines) by not reporting to New Orleans.
  11. Enjoy this season because the NBA might lockout next year if several issues aren't worked out between the owners and the player's union over the course of the end of this season/this offseason. The owners want a hard salary cap, limit of four years on contracts, and getting rid of the concept of guaranteed contracts much the way the NFL did. This is terrible. American professional sports does not need another lockout. Work this shit out NBA, please.
  12. The Next Year's Most Wanted list is a good one even though Meet the Fockers is already out. I really want to see War of the Worlds since it is one of only two books that I have read cover to cover in my life. The other one that I really want to see is Batman Begins. I think Christian Bale is gonna rip shit up as Batman. And for the Most Disappointing List, Club Dread and Mr. 3000 were big ones for me because they had a lot of press and didn't last more than 3 days in my theater. I never saw AVP but everyone I know that did said it stunk, so I'll take their word for it. At least the Top 5 movies are all good in my mind.
  13. Last night's episode was intense. I for sure thought that the girl was going to be left inside and get hit by the airstrike but that hypothesis was squashed very quickly when Jack single handedly fucked everyone's shit up. And once again, no offense in any way meant, it's the black woman for the second straight season fucking things up. I called it from the moment she appeared on screen and I got to gloat about my call last night. And one last thing was I the only one that finds the torture method they are using on Heller's son ridiculous?
  14. What New York needs to do is get people with short term contracts in trades. It is not as easy as it sounds but if it means taking lesser people in a trade so that their contract expires sooner it is worth it to take the hit now so the Knicks can get closer to what seems like an impossible goal, getting under the salary cap. This would allow them to play the free agent market and not have to just to sign and trades and veteran minimum contracts. Adding Phil Jackson would bring almost a sense of stability to the Knicks. He never seems to leave a team until he wins a championship and Isiah wouldn't have the gall to fire him. Oh yeah and Crawford and Marbury need to shoot a little better than 9% combined from 3-point range over a little span of games. That's just atrocious. I also read something about the NO/Cleveland trade with the lone difference being that Cleveland would also send a future 1st rounder and a future 2nd rounder as well.
  15. Last night, the Pretty Boy Floyd Era continued in Miami. He beat up Puerto Rican Henry Bruseles for his second win at 140 lbs. An 8th round TKO did the trick as Bruseles never got a good shot in on Mayweather. Earlier in the card though, a promising new heavyweight was showcased, Nigeria's Samuel Peter. He floored Cuban Yanqui Diaz 6 or 7 times in 6 rounds leading to the ref stopping the fight. Peter lacks Championship discipline at this point in time (he lost two points in the second round for hitting Diaz while he was down [which led to a funny burn directed at co-commentator Roy Jones Jr. whose only loss prior to last year was on a DQ for doing the same thing]). He hits hard with both hands and comes with hooks from different arm angles making it very hard to guard. Next week Arturo Gatti vs. Jesse James Leija with the winner more than likely to face Mayweather later in the year.
  16. Hopefully Herb Williams can keep his perfect record as a head coach and the Knicks will blitz through the rest of the season and win the Atlantic. The more realistic scenario: The Knicks continue to tank and make it extremely clear that Lenny Wilkens was not the problem...the fact that this team can't play as a team is the problem. And me and my buddies were talking about this yesterday, I wonder if anyone on New Orleans is going to take a shot at JJ, the next time they play Phoenix. I say no because New Orleans is on a roll (if you can have one and still have a winning percentage under .200) and having a couple guys get suspended would do nothing but hurt the chemistry and Byron Scott's rotation.
  17. The QB position is a big wild card in this draft, as many as 5 or 6 QB's could be taken in the first round but only two are locks. I myself think Charlie Frye is also a first round lock with Leinart staying at USC but there are several others that could creep into the first round/early second round if teams can't keep their shit together in the offseason, the one guy that seems to be shooting up draft boards is Jason Campbell of Auburn, from what I've seen he's in Round 2 right now but as I said in an earlier post, scouts said the same things about Kyle Boller and Cade McNown and they both ended up Top 20 picks. In Carolina's case, I think that they are confident that they have or could get a compitent backup QB if Delhomme were to go down but I think that Miller would be the perfect compliment to the trio of Keary Colbert, Steve Smith, and Muhsin Muhammad just as Marcus Pollard/Dallas Clark is to the trio of Marvin Harrison, Brandon Stokley, and Reggie Wayne.
  18. With Matt Leinart and D'Brickashaw Ferguson pulling their name out of the draft hat and countless other players either raising their stock with workouts or play in postseason All-Star games, my initial mock draft is really outdated, so therefore it is time for an update... (-> = moved up on the board, <- = moved down on the board, $ = new addition to board) 1. San Francisco- Alex Smith, QB (Utah) -> [He's Mel Kiper's #1 pick and he's been right 6 years running so I'm going with Smith over Rodgers here] 2. Miami- Cedric Benson, RB (Texas) 3. Cleveland- Aaron Rodgers, QB (Cal) -> 4. Chicago- Mike Williams, WR (USC) -> 5. Tampa Bay- Cadillac Williams, RB (Auburn) 6. Tennessee- Alex Barron, OT (Florida State) 7. 19. Jimmy Jackson's lifelong quest to be in every NBA organization at least once is on the move again. New Orleans could have got one decent player instead of three marginal players but hey they're young and they most likely will get a good dose of minutes in New Orleans. The Hornets to make room for the three new players though had to waive Junior Harrington and Matt Freije, both of whom at one point in the season were starting for the worst team in the league. And with Darko, he only has the Wallaces and McDyess ahead of him. Derrick Coleman was released a while ago. But the Pistons plan to pick up Campbell off the waiver wire once he clears and put someone like Ronald Dupree or Lindsey Hunter on the IL. And in closing, last night's Suns-Spurs game was one of the best basketball games I've seen in recent memory. Ginobili played filthy, and on ESPN this morning it was said that he had the 6th lowest career scoring average for a person scoring 45+ points in a game. Top of the list, Tony Delk's 53 a few years ago and Tracy Murray's 50. I never even knew Tracy Murray scored 50 in a game before, whatever team let that happen should have to fold.
  20. Yeah Sloan was pissed because he said that Arroyo wasn't a team player and had a me-first attitude. So Arroyo's punishement was four consecutive DNP-coach's decisions. Then someone on the Jazz said that Arroyo wanted out of Utah, which he denied denied denied. But with regards to waiving Campbell, he was included to make the money match up, I don't think Utah needs another center. I would laugh though if the team before Detroit on the waiver wire picks up Campbell so their plan is somewhat foiled.
