I’m currently working on the mechanics for Tag Team Mafia where everyone is a mason and see what mess that becomes.

I thought of a wild new mechanic for The Thing 2 and so many different things to do with it.  Now I want to run that so badly, except set it in the movies Aliens instead of the Xenomorphs.

I read Book One, then watched the first three seasons, then read all the books ahead of season 4.

The only thing that I recall being spoiled was the Ice Dragon reveal, because as said the episode leaked and there were images everywhere. It also meant I had the complete anti-spoiler of Lady Stoneheart in the books, which was dope.

I did the inverse.  I watched episode 1 when it originally aired, then stopped and read all 4 books out at the time then watched the rest of Season 1.

The biggest lesson I took from GoT is if a story relies on you not being spoiled to be good then maybe it's not that good of a story. I don't think this is as much the case for the book telling of the story, but man did the show fall back on "you'll never know what's gonna happen next week!" hard.

I agree strongly with this.  A shock does not equal good storytelling.  One of my biggest issues with the end seasons of GoT was that there was so many mini stories built up that just went nowhere.

Up to you, I have no preference. I got my game good to go, but if you want to go first, let me know.

Do yours if its good to go.  I might use the time to draw up The Thing 2 and see if I like that better.  Since I had the original cast and the remake in the first one I might take a completely different universe and throw The Thing in there for some spice.

My dog game was going to have 48 hours. I was going to consistently make the deadline noon (accommodate UK and NA players). Let me know if you want to go first @Azazel.

I did kind of get boned and didn't get to run it because of the long pause in mafia, but I don't think I should be able to leapfrog the others waiting to run a game now.  While I would like to do my weird Godzilla mafia with a weird mechanic. If people would prefer I could do The Thing 2 as well, I think that would benefit with shorter game phases.

Did the TV show basically confirm Young Griff is a fraud by writing him out and merging Jon Connington's story with Ser Jorah though?

Now that I think of it, the show left so much good material out that could have extended the series by years. Arainne and Quentyn Martell, and Victarion Greyjoy just don't exist in the TV show. The last few series of the show were such a missed opportunity.

My three favorite book characters are Victarion Greyjoy, Strong Belwas and Wyman Manderley and they all got written out of the show (no, I will not count Wyman being in one scene to get scolded by a little girl as being in the show).

I will absolutely read the books because there are so many more plot threads that the show cut out and they got too actiony at the end.  The Battle of Winterfell was pretty badly done, but the episodes featuring every before and after were fantastic.

The one spin off I want is The War of the Ninepenny Kings.  Nine usurpers put their armies together in an attempt to take over the Free Cities and Westeros so they could each take over one of them.  Robert's Grandather, Euron's Father and Tywin's father leading an army across the sea, with a young Barristan Selmy, Tywin, Kevan, The Blackfish, The Mad King, Littlefingers father and basically all the old men being part of it.

After last night, I'm 99% sure I'm done with Survivor.

I saw stuff on twitter and it sounds terrible.

On a funny unrelated note.  I'm pretty sure they brought Carter back from Phillipines in Edge of Extinction and just renamed him Gavin as an experiment to see if anybody would notice.

How do you like Reem? She is one of my favourite Survivors of the last few years.

She hasn't really done much yet except go from caring motherly figure to "I want to talk to the manager".  The news anchor dude is pretty great too, I love how he went on this big thing to Wardog about how he was going to work with him and then just stopped and basically told him to fuck off because he was in the majority now... then immediately got flipped on.

  8. There is always some stuff to enjoy in every season once you get passed the actual game of Survivor.  In Edge of Extinction I'm liking Wardog.  Mostly because he calls himself fucking Wardog, and partially because he is laughable bad at literally everything and constantly getting yelled at by the women and complaining about it.  Survivor needs more comical idiots who don't realize it.

  9. Working through Edge of Extinction now.  I think the biggest tell was the first post merge challenge, two people got eliminated and when Probst said their name I had no idea who the hell they were, 6 episodes in.  I hated the Outcast twist in Pearl Islands so I'm not thrilled to see it back.

It looks like Season 40 is finally an all winners season.  I'm glad to see a few early/mid season winners.  I think the only acceptable result is if Sandra wins again so she can stay the only two time winner.

  10. I've started watching again, I needed a break after that Heroes vs Hustlers vs Healers or whatever seasons because it easily ranked as a top 3 worst seasons for me.  Redemption Island, Caramoan and this season.  All for the same reason, they felt completely rigged for certain winners.  I called who was going to win in like the first 3 episodes and the entire end of the game felt super rigged to make sure it happened, especially the change to the Final 4 fire challenge.  It felt like they handed him 3 idols and when he still lose the final immunity challenge they changed the rules so it was impossible for him to get voted out for the entire second half of the game.

Ghost Island was not very good either, but more so because the heavy focus on all the returning advantages seemed to leave the actual castaways not matter.  I finished the finale and like 20 minutes later I couldn't even remember who won, or was even in the final 3.  Just mostly a forgettable season.... except that one dude that looked like Matthew Lillard for some reason.

I'm watching the finale of David vs Goliath as I type this, a much better season with more focus on the actual players.  It blows my mind how insanely jacked Johnny Mundo looks.  Also, Christian talks exactly like Hank Azaria's character, David, from Friends.

Man S3 was really great.  Much better then S2 was.

But I am wondering though...spoiler for the end of the season

How many people are left alive in Hawkins?  Its shown to be a rather small town to begin with, then the Mind Flayer takes control of a whole bunch of people and they die.  I really don't blame Wynona Ryder for moving away!

    Spoiler

Didn't they say at the end 30 people died?  The mall scenes had a ton of people so I'm guessing the town isn't that small.

  12. Loved Season 3, especially Robin.

    finale spoilers

    Spoiler

The pay off to Suzie was absolutely the best part of the show and amazing awkward mood whiplash with everyone listening being just confused as hell.

    Spoiler

Westerosi people have never been innocent when it comes to raping women when sacking a city, so it’s not like the Northmen are above that.  If anything it’s more out of character for the Dothraki to do since their Queen forbade it... but she’s also decided to kill the entire city so that’s probably out the window.

Right I just think it's a setup for Vol. 3 which will deal with them trying to find her.

    Spoiler

With a major part of the plot being 2014 Gamora being more attracted to Thor than Starlord.

Honestly it could be a good twist, Thor saves her life instead so things never go back to “normal”

  15. Spoiler

I really think Melisandre realized she was wrong about finding the Prince who was Promised and that she was just following R’Hllor because she thought she had seen his power in action.

Then she saw a darkness in Arya, she saw the one true god, Death.  Death has many faces and R’Hllor was one of them.  That’s why she drops the Lord of Light stuff and inspires Arya with “what do we say to the God of Death?” Instead.  She was always looking to the flames for vision and not into the darkness.

I didn't need the 1vX, cool as it would have been, because NK had already proven powerful enough to keep everyone on the verge of death with his ability to bring forth overwhelming waves of the dead.  And even if they had gotten past them, there was still zombie dragon, and even if they had gotten past that, there was still his entourage of White Walkers who seemed to serve no purpose in this episode other than showing us how much the Night King likes to roll up to the club with his whole squad.  So I feel like they did a good enough job of saying this guy so powerful he's made it  nearly impossible to even get close to him.   What absolutely was needed though, was a fight between him and Jon Snow.  I'm fine with Arya landing the killing blow, but to never have Jon Snow even fight NK one on one seems like a huge mistake.  That's Jon's villain.  Its like if Luke and Vader never actually fought in Star Wars.

Didn't see him come back either, but there by the grace of the seven goes Ghost!

    Spoiler

That story has almost entirely avoided having the cliche hero fights bad guy and wins arcs.  Jon just wanted to stop the dead, he didn’t have a personal vengeance against The Night King anyway.
